Update... Completed the entire board with HQ to level 5. At no point did I ever get the chance to build the ice condenser I spent 1/2 of my starting money on. UGLY BUG.

Ok I started my first campaign and I appear to have stumbled across a pretty bad bug which may force me to start over. I chose to play the default Seneca Development and deployed to an engineering world. Under Hire staff I chose two specials: Free Turbine, Free Ice condensor. I got the free turbine on founding, but I do not get the ice condensor and it is not even an option to build one. I spent 1/2 my starting funds on this what gives? Thanks.

Thank you for the replies. The Steam promotional thumbnail I clicked on did not say pre-order, beta, or anything that led me to believe it was not ready to play. If you go to the full steam store and search there it is listed as a copy that may not run. Perhaps in time the developers will fix this title to run on my platform with a modern 24" HDMI monitor. Perhaps not. I do not see the point in paying now for a product that may or may not work some day in the unspecifi

I recently purchased Galactic Civilizations III. It was not advertised on Steam as either a beta or a pre-order, though there may have been links buried somewhere which would provide such disclaimers. The price point was not for an unfinished product. This is extremely misleading for customers. I was shocked when I ran the product for the first time and saw it was only a beta. The intro video plays fine but at the splash screen the text does not display (or is invisible due

Guys-- I have toi play GalCiv II on a laptop with no internet access. I DL patches etc. here, and port it over via external media. Unfortunatley, after running the 1.1 patch, I can no longer play the game. It asks for my serial number, which I input, but the game then attempts to access the internet. The Secure laptop I use to play will NEVER have access to the internet, so how can I get it authenticated so I can play with the patch installed? Thanks. SPC Hancock U.S.

Sheesh play anight of Fallout tactics and I am three pages behind on the list. I like the idea of maintaining our own top 100 list very much if it was more reflective of skill and we got it working would be funny as hell. Strat First would be crazy not to adopt our model then! I like Rays parameters and would like to add the following: Score should be the cumuluative total of all points after weighting by map size and difficulty. (and otehr factors if decided). DO NOT MAKE

Mad: I think you are coming to the same disillusioning consequences that I am. I submitted a defeat game and is _lowered_ my score. That of course encourages me to cherry pick and only submit certain games... this does not give the people of the metaverse an accurate picture of what players are like. Persoanlly I would liek to see low scores and defeats posted without penalty. it is a human truth that we often learn more form failures that sucess and I would like to ask the Big players abou

FREE NEW GAME: ok you guys may have seen the thread on the guy who wanted an XCOM like game, thread starts "OT..." someguy recoomended the game spellcross which never hit the American market. After massive experimentation I found the game and got it working for FREE on one of my machines. It looks like a lot of fun. See my latest post in that thread for detailed instructions how to get it running

GUys-- H50: Yeah I noticed you submitted a game your score bounced over min all of a sudden heh. MP: What you mentioned seems correct about cultural influence. Since flipping is not disabled when cultural victory is off I assume cultural social projects, TG's, wonders are still useful. Odd though on my huge map where I have near total cultural domination not a single planet has flipped.. ever... MMORPH: Hmmm I guess the Green knight from the story of Sir Gwain and

HOW TO GET SPELLCROSS WORKING: After four hours of fiddling I have critical functionality with SpellCross, now here is what I did. 1) Download the game from the Underdogs website it is 54 megs. 2) do a google search for "spellcross patch" click the first link it shows and walk through the awkward directions to download the 455k patch. 3) Dearchiving the 54 meg game file in Win Zip on my win 98 machine only produced 38 sub archives each of which had to be de-

Ray-- Playing my first huge map. Wow what a pain so big you cannot get deatiled info in teh mini-map and have to scroll around and memorize tons of place names! I turned off cultural victory this game for the first time. Not a single planet has flipped. Does turning off cultural victory prevent all planets from flipping? In such a game is ther any point to influece or building cultural social projects?

XCom UFO Defense won many different awards and was one of Microprose's best selling franchises for a long time. I still play Xcom Apocalypse and Interceptor from time to time. (I reatin old computers and operating systems for this purpose). I think the death of the franchise had more to do with Microprose being gobbled up by Spectrum holobyte, then Hasbro etc. The people in charge at this point do not have the same vision. There is still al ot more than could be done with the XCOM serie

Thanks for the advice on picks Ray, I think I will expereiment with different things that adds some replay value for me. I heard that the govt. out your way a couple days ago finally allowed the import of chewing gum. Granted it has to be sugerless, is only sold at a pharmacy, and has to have "medicinal properties"; still it sounds like Singapore is letting its hair down a little. Have you indulged yet?

ChainMail was the 70's precurser to D&D which later became AD&D and now D&D anyways I played it too along with Arduin Grimore (original printing hehe) and many others. Well thats 'nough of that lest I date us. As the higher end strategies all seem to revolve around military rush and its resulting, enormous cost, I wager Mad will have to bump that tax slider up to teh healthy 40% I play me games at. As Far as some empire confederation thinga-ma-jigger I haven't a clue what your
