yeah, the traffic has been dropping off month by month since the forums were split up. A lot of it has to do with the split up, and some of it probably has to do with people moving on to different games. Hopefully with AP shipping soon, itl liven this place up.

The AIs influence bonus is also directly tied into difficulty. The higher the difficulty the AI is, the bigger the bonus, and on maso games, it is simply huge (i.e. good luck owning any sector you dont have a planet in tell latemid/late game). edit: and on the revolt thing, he probably had maxed out his cultural resitance buildings, and as someone has previously said, it takes a while for influence to calculate. The higher difficulty AIs, again, have a very strong resistance to flipp
So, I'm not sure what the problem is, but every time a vote ocmes up (Multiple games, the first time I switch to republic and my people vote) the game crashes. At this point, I don't know what to do to fix this as I have uninstalled and then reinstalled it even.
well... try asking yourself the following: Am i using a Mod Political Party? If i change my current political party in a new game, does the bug still happen? What happens if I use a diff

as requested, here is my post from the jedi comm. thread: NewfyScotion- What i do is i make sure that planet setting is on rare (the less planets there are, the easier the game is). Then, i just CTRL+N until i get 2-3 planets. Set your spending to 100%, taxes to 50%, then research 50-60%, military 20-30%, social 20%. Here is my usual research path for the start: Comm THeory--> Universal Trans---> Med Theory---> Basic Enviro Ctrl---> Nano Electronics---> Nano Frequency Elect

in the past week ive gone from roughly 720k points to 670k.... rank 18 to 24. One was a major drop, of about 40-45k, probably due to a bad block shift. But since this time, ive submitted 3 more games. And my score has not changed, in fact its gone down in farther. In my latest game, i submitted at 671k, i checked score after submit, and its down to 670k. Whats going on?? Why should i even bother to submit games to metaverse if im only going to lose points doing it? I believe jtqwerk is also

yeah, thats the thing, i was just looking through my history, and all my games on the 20th do not add up to my point loss (i.e. there less). Not only that, but these games have been degrading over time already, so them dropping off the table shouldnt have hit me so hard.

dont know if this has been implimented yet, but an auto save at the start of every campaign mission is needed, that way once i can complete the campaign i can play whatever level i want. Currently i can only replay levels on which i have saves using the reset button, or restart the entire campaign. edit: and by currently i mean the build before the latest release client.
How bout the Gamblers??The origin of the Gamblers goes back to the Big earthquake of 2087, where California fell into the ocean. When Nevada ended up where California once was, Gambling was outlawed and Those that had made their living at it formed the Gamblers movement (which later became a political party). The Gamblers, using their poker faced experience are excellent Diplomats. And their card playing has instilled in them creativity. And though those on the outside always claim they ar

ok havent had time to do much galciv related recently (4 AP tests will do that). anyways, for the logo, the universalists logo is good for me. Party name: The Inventors (ok, bad name, but i dont really want to think to hard ;) ) Backstory: The inventors are a highly creative party, specializing in doing groundbreaking work that others simply cant. They are also pacifists, preferring to solve problems through diplomatic means rather than brute force. Because of this, they

ok, heres the thing. Im lazy (really), and i dont want to take the time to learn the modding tools myself. Yes, im sure it wouldnt take too long, but i really am (lazy). Anyways.... i was hoping someone could make a political party with: +20% Diplomacy +25 Creativity **** Another ability here for the above ability, it doesnt much matter, preferably moral/economy/military production... i would say PQ but then this would be overpowered and the AIs would take it everyt

im fairly sure you must be at least chaotic good to use the paladin- as for how much it heals, im not sure. It is more than slightly overpowered, as my paladin (dreadnaught tech) was easily taking on the AIs overlords- and if you have a military starbase or 2 they seem to never die, like ever.

1 Replies 203 Views
In the AP beta anyway, you get free starbases equal to the radius of the galaxy. Thus if galaxy is 12 sectors wide you get 6 free starbases. Then the cost depends on your logistics capability. There is at least one galactic acheivment and a wonder (I believe) that increases logistics in the early game. And a couple more later in the game.
yeah, when i made this thread, there was only 1 improvement for logistics, and it wasnt scaled for map size, and it was about 4x more e

You should always, always colonize PQ 14 planets. Once you get up to terraforming, grab those PQ 13 as well if you have the spare time. The terraformer is useful, but if your playing maso and going for an alliance victory you wont ever get that far into a game. If your going all out war with the AIs, you might be able to get it since those types of games usually last a while. edit: and the AI does colonize 13-14 planets on Maso. In my last game, i Ctrl+U at the start to find out whe
I meant the difference between 1.49M[b].003 and 1.49M[b].002.
i believe mission 3 of the campaign was changed so that the ships the AI starts with are no longer excaliburs, but 3 battleships (which means they are restricted to within a few sectors of their home due to the poor range and speed of battleships).

3 Replies 174 Views

mission 3 is much easier now, as the AIs ship(s) are restricted to sectors that they control at the start due to the BS having very small range. It is about on par with the other levels in difficulty now, and requires no new strategies (i.e. sending scout ships all over the map and praying that the excalibur targets those and not your transports).
When blockading a planet I've noticed one of two things happen. Either i) If its a major AI and they're powerful they tend to declare war on you OR ii) I often shield my trade minors with a wall of ships and they just seem to be able to pass straight through mine without any problems
ah... i turned minors off... they just get in the way and ruin great starting positions ;)
