Scenario 5 and 9 need some reworking, as all i had to do was make contact with the AI once i had universal translators and they immediatly surrendered due to the power of my fleet (a Battleship with 10000000 attack or whatever is a bit much). Also, on mission 9, you only start out with 1000 BC, and your maintenance from your ships costs will over 80 BC a turn, meaning you cant build anything before you run out of credits. Something needs to be changed to make this an actual, playable scenario, n

I cannot submit alliance victory games to the metaverse from the latest beta build. It keeps saying that this is "still currently in beta testing" and i would not be allowed to submit the game. It says it is a scenario, but it is not, i successfully submitted a military conquest game using the EXACT SAME starting specs as the alliance victory, save for alliance victory being checked.
it is the latest beta build. I have no clue why it will not let me submit
eh.... its not letting me submit alliance victory games. Ive got one i finished in about 75 minutes on huge, and then a couple smaller ones after that didnt work to see if it was just that 1 game or something else. It appears to be something else, when i try to submit it says: Error, this game can not be submitted as this feature is still in beta testing.
the campaign (for the most part) is very good. The only missions that need a rework are 5 and 9, because your starting ships are so powerful the AI immediatly surrenders. In fact, in mission 9, if you dont get the AI to surrender in about 10 turns your bankrupt and can no longer build anything anyways. Not really a mission... just rush for universal translators (all you have time to research since you start on a PQ 6) and then peace treaty for all there planets. All the other missions are fi
Don't worry about Greldon - he's just a man with a mission (which he has now successfully achieved).I think one of Mindshock's compatriots, Slothrop banged in about 11 60K masos in one day Basically, it's as Mindshock says - keep tha AIs happy early on, so you can do what you want, when you want, and an Alliance victory will get you 60K on a huge map in Altarian Prophecy V1.49. I'm not as fast as some, but can churn those out in about 90 minutes. To go for a military victory takes a bit
Like someone already said in this thread, it is both easier and harder. The smaller maps are much, much harder as there are 2 more civs who try and pick on you (at higher difficulties anyways), since most everyone only has a handful on small/tiny anyways. On larger maps, this same thing happens, only to your advantage. The AIs rush each other to death, trying to beat themselves out for the far away planets (they dont go for the short ones first, except as stepping stones then come back later).
?? the map sizes are still the same, make sure when you start your game your galaxy setting is not on one of the smaller map sizes. edit: i say this because when you patch your game, it restores the galaxy size to the default (tiny), and i ended up playing a game this way by accident. Is it just me or is this mission very, very hard. The whole concept of this mission is backwards, starting off with a good military fleet and no funds. What use is the fleet since they cant go farther than 1 sector away from your homebase? Even with spending at 0%, you still lose over 60 BC a turn in maintenance, while still starting with the basic 1000 BC. The only way to beat this mission that i see is to disband all your military ships and start from scratch, which is again hard since the A
just a month or 2 ago you had to go back to at least page 2 to find 1 day old topics, now its a few posts before the day old stuff comes up. Wheres everyone gone? Feels like a ghost town out here...
not sure if this has been said already but: saved games for the campaign are in their own seperate folder, which is a great idea, except that it looks in the normal saved game folder for them. oops and on mission 5?? of the campain where you are to kill the torians, my survey ship was more than slightly powerful. it had over 150000 attack, and 4000000 defense. Needless to say the torians surrendered on turn three once i got war declared on them. I was able to duplicate this
ug finially beat that mission. It is about 10x as hard as every other mission so far (on mission 7 now)
wow this is an old thread, i dont even remember making this post. Jeffrey, the key to keeping the AIs off you with no military is basically this: a) Your inital planet rush must be good (you need about 25% of the planets that the major civs control). b) Your allignment towards the AI should be the same or nuetral. Opposite allignments= hostility and degrading relations no matter what you do, unless your military is much stronger than theres (which it probably wont be until ar
your guys enemy ship is an avatar?? mines an excalibur with 500 hp and a crapload of movement. This level is literally impossible for me, i cant colonize more than 1 planet because it is able to cross several sectors in a turn (meaning that the scout thing doesnt work). ummm help!? [Message Edited]
Whenever i save a game in AP, it doesnt show up on the save game list. So if i get a CTD, or some other bad bug, i cant reload to try and recreate it or continue the campaign.
planetary bombardments would be nice too... im guessing thats why it only takes 1 turn to capture a planet (your ships blowing stuff up).
that would be a nice addition for newer players who are just learning how to play. Also, a setting on the governor screen would be nice for a mass destroy (i.e. if i conquer a planet, i dont want what the AI has on it cause it builds everything). So, when i take a planet, if it has a building on it on the destroy list, that building is automatically destroyed without me manually having to remove thousands of buildings per game.
I had a game that i was close to winning (me and the big bad yor left). I have aprox 50 star systems, they have 8. I upgraded from 1.9 to 1.2 (or was it 1.2 to 1.2b or whatever??). Anyways, the system enhancements are totally fubared, and my huge manufacturing planet (orig planet quality 49) lost every useful improvement, and instead had them replaced with things like star system defense, and its planet quality is reduced by about 10. Same for every other planet i have, and the mor
I dont do combat a lot: I just wasnt sure if I should have seen each corvette attack separately or not. As it was so many souls died in one attack phase but I'm reassured that it is working correctly.
yeah, its working right. The best thing to do with those corvettes is to park them in your systems to boost up your military rating (but make sure you have at least 2 spots open so you can continue building ships). I had one event where i got 100 corvettes, maybe even
yeah, you have no benefit from fleets other than less micro management currently. This means that your corvettes are attacking the death knight 1 at a time, and gradually lowering its hit points. Maybe in the future we will actually see fleet/tactical combat. [Message Edited]
ah, with more tech options maybe things will be more balanced. Still need defense modules for starbases. Now they shouldnt be able to take on an excaliber, but they should be able to kill an overlord without too much trouble. That never ever happens in my games, maybe 1 out of 15 fully upgraded starbases can survive an attack by an overlord. the constructor cost for full upgrades is more than the overlords cost, yet the starbases get destroyed easily.
In 1.2, we have very few options for reducing logistics costs, in fact, theres only one (1). If your playing on gigantic maps, after your 10th starbase it becomes near impossible to keep building more starbases and keep up with the AI in tech/starships (on maso anyways). The whole system to me seems unfinished and rushed. There needs to be a few more techs done up to aid in reducing logistics costs, or possibly have it scaled by map size/difficulty. Another thing that would be useful
Populist Party (+20 Diplo/Morale) +60 Diplo (5 points) +20 Morale (2 points) +5% PQ (3 points.... this one im debating on whether i should change it or not, its not terribly useful) I use these to make maso games easy, i can trade tech like crazy, along with having a high tax rate because of the morale bonuses so i can pump out ships/tech faster.
The AI on maso uses AMM all the time against me. Its a royal pain in the ars, the drengin in particular do this. They build over 100 AMM, which pumps their military rating sky high. Then the launch them into all corners of the galaxy, where i cant find them without specifically looking for them. When it comes time to invade their planets, they will never gift planets to me in a peace treaty because of their AMM hiding all over the place. I have to send at least 15 excalibers aroun
i think what he means is they always start in areas with many yellow stars- and hes got a point. I have never, ever played a game (except on tiny/small) where all of the minor civs had just 1 or 2 worlds. 1 of them always gets at least 4-6, and its usually the caranoids. Last 6 games ive played they have had no less than 5 star systems. edit: after rereading his post and the title, i could be off the mark and you guys are right. It always pays to reread stuff BEFORE you make yoursel
