Thats the thing, I have that turned off too. Which is why I mentioned the oddity. Will check it out in my current game, and see if I can establish a pattern/re-creatable incident. I think I will test it with the GNN off (currently), then again after that. Only realy takes a couple of reloads to test the theory out.
Are you already turning on "Active Gov ignores GNN" in the options screen, couslee?
Active Gov ignores GNN: off Is that the problem? I noticed that sometimes the Gov will replace social build items, and sometimes not. When adding a new item to the queue. I think if the new item is highlighted when you close the Gov screen it will change it, and it don't when you make sure it is not highlighted. Further testing needed to be sure though. Making sure it is n
Yes Ray. Matter of fact, I am nearing the end of my first game. Will be starting an Empire. I have a basic story line done, but not sure if I want to tweak it. I have never written any fiction/role playing stories before, so is new territory. Worst thing that could happen if ppl laughing and calling it stupid. (like I give a shit lol). Although having an acomplished writer persue it first would be nice. Not playing the beta, will wait until thats finished. 1.05(?) is fine. <b
And I thought this might have been about the build notifications at the begining of the turn. Have to deal with the same planet screen too many times every time something is built. The notifictions on the right are enough. I don't need the planet screen poping up and requiring me to hit the "next" button, in addition to the build notifications.
Best way to extend the demo time limit is here http://www.galciv.com/purchase.asp
I suggest a cease-fire! Between the top two Empires . . . we could all take a holiday . . . relax and watch the other empires catch up! Place bets, argue and do all the things we ussually do. Just not post our games . . .?
The idea I had about a "Hall of Fame" would be good here. When an empire hits 1 million (or 1.5 M), All current members get their name in the HoF anlong with the empire name. The empire would then be disbanded. Start over with a new one.
Alte
How about every single point that you submit to be counted in your score and also how about your score never being degrated and how about if you make it to the top 25 keeping forever your 25th position medal not loosing it when someone gets on top of you on the list.
Because if you want to stay on the list, you should be submitting games. That is why I suggested a "Hall of Fame". If your good enough for it, you can get in there. With Re-activation possible. No score d
Diplomatic couter-proposals, open ended offers and auctions. IE: 1. We will not give you 800BC for 500yr for medical theory, but we will give you ______ for _____yrs (or this ship, or that tech. Or, If you throw in propulsion theroy with it you have deal) 2. I would like to offer you medical theory, what would you be willing to give for it? 3. (new turn notice) the Terrans have placed medical theory (ship, planet, ect.) up for sale, highest offer gets the tech (ship, pla
Oh goody, I get to repost my idea in an apropriate place ;) Funding for the metaverse has long since run out from what I have read. Getting ANYTHING new put in there is not going to be an easy task. I suggested that the powers that be, provide a link so that the metaverse can be run, operated, upgraded and wotnot by player donation. Donations would not be required to utilize the board, but those players that wanted to keep this most excellent endeavor going for a long time to
and you can repair the ships at a starbase that has a repair module.
I thought they only had to be in the same sector as the SB to get the BOUNS repair rate of the repair module. The empire itself should have an inhearant repair rate once basic repair is researched, plus any anomolus repair bounses you might get.
ANZACS Space Ship is hereby Cristened "The A.S.S." and bears its name with pride
You had your cristening ceremony in a G.R.O.S.S. step-child thread? :SURPRISED:
Your going to have to do better than that if your going to try to insult us...
I could go away for 6 mths (i.e. not sumbit any games) and come back if that is your bidding Master?
And your hall of fame score could be re-activated. (grin)
From a noob POV, I would find it frustrating to have to pass someone who has not submitted a game in ages (>6mos), and most likely is not going to be submitting one soon. If that "legend" is not playing the game anymore, get the F**K outta my way. Alternately, perhaps MEATaverse could make a "hall of fame" (say limit it to 20 or 30 names/scores) for players that have become inactive, and let the current players have a chance at top-dog. This would allow them to retain their legendar
I guess it just depends on your POV about the Metaverse. I don't look at it as a winnings tracker, but a scoring tracker. And losing games have a score too...... OMG, that sounded like a gooey goody/fuzzy bunny statement. Where is that vomit smiley when you want it. LOL
Interested. But as they say, good advice is only good if you use it.
Aye, not only without an empire at the moment, but still doing the massive FV dl. Right now it's 88% done. Only took about 30 hrs to get this far....this time. Last time the DL manager lost the history at about 68%. It's a genuine race between my 56k dial-up and snail mail. Must keep in mind, that after I get this on the HD, I still have to DL the patch. Gonna take a few days off the computer in between tho. Having to monitor the DL is wearing my A.S.S. out. (joke about that to follow la

Well, if it is like most text programming files, it will be all greek to me LOL Don't know why, but that kind of stuff just don't sink in easily for me. I bought C++ programming learning package once. Half way down the first page I think I looked a bit like Opie Taylor and felt like Forest Gump. I will give them my perusal anyway, but it would be nice if SD gave a quick reply to the question at hand. I would be good at game concept though. :D Soon as I w
Disappointed when you play gigantic? I remember when I first saw gigantic. I just sat there and stared in incredible happiness.
As I am sure I will too. I was speaking comparitively. Keeping inline with the topic, am glad to see others not having trouble with the WinXP built in firewall and Metaverse.
If you're really worried about the extra work, just get your details added to the GROSS page. It'll take two seconds, I promise.
LOL Or perhaps I was fishing for possible empire additions before that damn thing is created (or even before the FV download finished). evil snicker
couslee -- You do know that most of the colonization event bonuses only apply to that planet, right? Think about it. Is the diplomatic penalty worth a bonus that only applies on one of, say, scores of worlds?
Actually, no. Didn't know that for sure, but kind of suspected it. You say "most" though, any list arouynd that shows a detailed description of events and whether or not they are single planet or empire wide benefits? A list of all the possible UP proposal
Im using windows 98 too, and yeah, the demo disables movies and limits you too a small or tiny map
not true. The demo is on a medium map, contrary to what the demo states. It's no big deal, but if your not aware of this, you might be looking forward to a gigantic map and be a bit disappointed. small is 4x4 per the manual. demo is 5x5 if you count the sectors.
On the Metaverse map, it shows the major empires, and several sectors within each. 1> What are these sectors about? 2> Where are the smaller empires at? 3> Certain empires refer to others as roadkill (ahem). What does this mean in relation to the Metaverse map? 4> There is a lot of sectors that are not withing a given empire's color boundaries, as is there are small sectors that are surrounded by the majors. If a player starts a new empire, are they going to
Dev Cheese: Demo states galaxy size is limited to small......small would be 4x4. Demo is 5x5 (medium). Liars. LOL LOL
