I found the cranking guide interesting. Was able to glean some information out of it, but I likewise feel that the strategy as a whole does not fit my playstyle. Even though GC does not have a MP(pbem) option, I still like to play as if the AI is a human player. Do I use some cheese? Sure. I think everyone does to some extent (ctrl-n anyone?). But I try to not pull anything so absurd that a human would slap you senseless just for suggesting it.
Complete Build -- 2 stacks of 12 constructors, building everything,
Have not got that high up in the tech tree yet. Are you saying there are 11 different culture modules?
4 stacks of 6 constructors up to Party Palace
Obviously one goes for the SB itself, what are the others for? Any on defense?

Curious regarding all the alignment changes you make. I think you might be putting too much emphasis on alignment. I use the default alignments, and don't get much grief from any of the AIs. I think what you do during the game is more important than alignment. I have had warm pure good AIs when I was pure evil and the pure evil AIs be really ticked off. (like to play all normal AI with 1 at intl)

You could always check out the demo before buying. As with any AI/game, the computer is going to be handicapped by how much cheese you choose to employ, but aside from that, I think the AI is one of the best I have seen, esp at the higher levels.
....WHAT WAS I THINKING WHEN I BOUGHT THIS GAME? HOW CAN THE DESIGNERS ECPECT ME TO ENJOY THE GAME WHEN I CANT GET PAST THE YEAR 2200 (IF IM FRIKIN LUKCY!) EVEN MY SO CALLED ALLIES STAB ME IN THE BACK. I CANT EVER EXPAND PAST 5 TO 6 SECTORS. IVE HAD ENOUGH. IF THE DESIGNERS ARE GONNA MAKE THE DAMN GAME TO FRIKIN HARD TO BEAT FOR GAMERS... disclaimer: Some comments taken out of context
I know. GREAT!, Ain't it. LOL I was a civ player too, find them easy. One

Wait a min.. Sooooooo, if a planet needs to fail the culture check twice to flip, and the Jolly Roger is a sign that it has failed one of those, then..... If it never disappears, then even if you get things undr contorl, and somehow lose that control down the line, then it still only has one fail to go before flipping? (IE: there has been say 50 turns since the first failure). That is not right imo If a planet flips, Does the JR stay also?, meaning once a planet flips, then i
it is what it is. Trying a large 5x maso game, and i gotta say, I am not really enjoying it very much. I am not that far into the game, and if the AI can be this far ahead of me now, I don't see how there is much hope. I got a good start, have met 3 majors and two minors. One of the minors was kind enough to send a freighter my way, but the majors didn't waste much time declaring war. I am just now rolling ut a couple of fighters, only to be met with a number of corvet
However, last night in run into 100% repeatable crash to desktop, most likely triggered by desctruction of one of my own colonies. I tried to destroy the colony some 5 times, each of them resulting in a CTD in the next round.
I have seen this too. You can try this (worked for me). I assume you saved the game prior to destroying the colony (did 5X yes?). Save the game again after you destroy the colony, but before you hit end turn. The game will crash, then reload the

Join the Viraxian Ascension. We can give a good education, a brand new car, move you and your family to a nice tropical bungalo in Hamburg. Of course you will win every maso-gigantic game you play. You will be gifted with supreme knowledge, which you can use not only inthe game, but throughout the rest of your life. You will get the good feeling one always gets when liberating poor (and oil rich) planets from opressive tyrants. Eventually, you will even be guarenteed a shot at running for P
I recall we were supposed to have a bomber in the Xpack.
That would be nice. Easier than moving your defender out of orbit in a near-by star, and waiting for the AI to de-populate the target planet it with it's own transports.
Don't get discouraged when your twenty techs behind, or when the AI is sending Dreadnaughts against your frigates. I have 9 planets over 6 sectors. AI Techs / AI Planets Majors: 13/6, 23/10, 17/5 Minors: 14/2, 4/1 date is 2182 About my only claim to fame in this game, is

the cost for paying workers and maintaining the facility are the monthly maintainence cost for each one. I think part of this gripw could be fixed if you got BC for scrapping a building. And I don't buy the argument that the empire money spent is just mishandeled by the private companies (the manu centers, ect), if so then the empire should not have any maint costs. SD reads the board. They see that this thing is a big complaint with the players. I know it currently i
plus another 5000 B.C. to finish it off.
That don't make any sense to me. Guess I will have to build one and see. 5000BC is a lot when you don't cheese the AI for money. But that is another rant. ;p So using your method, you would have to pay 5000BC every time you assembled one? What about disassembly costs? One could also just bring a fleet of "parts is parts" constructors along with the terror star in case you lost a couple on the way. Not
