I've set the settings you specified, then hovered over open applications on the taskbar with the mouse. This is producing the normal preview window, and the icons remain intact - no blank thumbnails.
Okay, so I had reinstalled 2.5.3.1 as I said. I just installed 2.5.5.4 again and am not seein
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce this issue on my Windows 11 24H2 (OS build 26100.6725) with Start11 v2.5.5.4. Perhaps its due to different Windows version?
I'm just going to stick with 2.5.3.1 for now and see if anyone else reports this.
There seems to be an issue with 2.5.5.4 that when an app is open, hovering over the app in the taskbar manifests an Explorer icon with a blank thumbnail. I have rolled back to 2.5.3.1 which alleviates this issue and the Group texture issue I reported here https://forums.stardock.com/538357/page/1/#3979058 FYI: 2.5.5.3 didn't have this issue, so it was introduced with 2.5.5.4. If you open your image in the Windows Photos app you can crop the image and then resize it to 256 x 256. Then save is as a PNG file somewhere on your C: drive.
If the app is pinned to the taskbar (and not running), you can get this option by holding the shift key and right-clicking the app icon.
Great article Doc. I'm sure many Stardock members will find the info useful. [e digicons][/e]
That was going to be my next suggestion if you weren't seeing the dialog. Glad you got it working. [e digicons][/e]
Are you getting this dialog?

The easiest way to get rid of these apps in the All Apps menu is to right-click the app, select More, and then Hide from apps.
Maybe this will help. Note that if the icon size is not available, Windows will pick the next closest image and resize it as necessary. It also depends on your scaling.
Just choose Autohide and it should work as you want.

This issue doesn't appear to be fixed in 2.5.5.3. I have discovered that if I change the tabs position by moving it to the right it regains its texture, but the tab that took its place in position 1 looses it's texture. Also, if I change the "Always open on this tab index" to the second tab, it becomes the tab that looses its texture. Again, it's only in the first group on the page.
I have what sounds like the same issue. I wanted to set my Start 11 Taskbar to a black background (as I had on Start 10), but the font color used for the right hand clock/calendar display and the default tray icons remains black, so the text becomes invisible. Is there no way to set the color of that font? <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/46/76/4676328/ea714eab-0605-4273-aed6-83f593f2a63a.png" alt="" widt
Do you mean some files and folders are missing, or that their icons are missing?
Pretty sure this has been fixed. I'm betting they rebooted the WC site. [e digicons][/e]
You also have multiple shortcuts for Control Panel on your desktop. Are you running another app that changes your taskbar besides Start11? What happens if you restart your computer?
