Try running defrag on your harddrive.Usually after a fresh load programs are scattered thruout the drive.I had random crashes until I defragged. What os are you using?If XP, microsoft has patch for freezing games under the updates section.On the pick updates to install look under the second heading on the left under the critical updates,then look at list for the one about freezing after intro videos played.
I have never noticed much of a difference when playing militarily or culture bombing.You might end up with a couple hundred more points with military kills.
I have just downloaded the newest version and it seems the mods that I made before and were working fine are now displaying in various intervals and not following the tech tree as intended.I verified them with galciv writer and tried again with same results. Trade only works in current sector that the additions of trade post thru trade center are built in. Military has something to do with what the stats for weapons and defense are for ships. Ok just went back to check bug report thread and Cari replied "try reloading stardock central only not galciv just stardock". I am in the process of this as I bang out this message to fellow space travellers. Will report back if this fixes problem.

I posted same problem on bug thread and Cari replied to wait as game was doing some calculations.Well I tried her advice and still have same problem as you. But my work around is to submit score and then hit the windows key on keyboard and then go look at metaverse to see if game posted,sometimes yes and sometimes no.If yes then I just close out game and start again. If no then I go back to game and hit submit again and repeat until it goes thru. It bugs me that I have to resort to trivi
