In the end its not really the Earth I'm so concerned about but ourselves
You got that part right, Earth (and life on Earth) will continue no matter how bad we screw up the planet. We, on the other hand, will not survive a major blow to the ecosystem.
Actually, I'd say that humanity is probably the non-insect species most likely to survive a major blow to the ecosystem. We're really the only ones capable to developing and executing an effective plan to keep
You need to download the nano tech plus the enhanced terraforming. You'll need to nerf the PQ in the terraforming techs if I remember correctly.
Did you actually get anomalous scores with the terraforming techs or did you just nerf it as a precaution? I usually don't mess with PQ mods, but I thought the NanoTechnology pack looked interesting, and it has a prerequisite in the Enhanced TerraForming pack. I figured it would be OK since it doesn't increase your PQ ability,

Maybe you should start out at Small or Medium and move up to Gigantic after you get the hang of the game. I also noticed that it got harder to stay out of war when I went to Large and above. The more planets there were the bigger lead they managed to get in the early game, and the longer it took for me to pull into the lead. If it takes one of your Rangers to beat one of his Frigates, it's because he's mining several military resources. (The AI does get bonuses at Crippling lev

It tells you when it happens, too. You must have just missed it. "Researchers from the [race] have uncovered a Precursor device that has done something remarkable: Every uncolonized planet for 2 sectors in every direction from the [star] system has increased its base planet class by [X]!" I had one game where X was 14! ~SDC~

I made a new UP issue where you vote to enforce a standard government type. The game would completely lock up when it came up (the UP screen wouldn't appear, it would freeze right before) unless I included "No Change" as an option. I don't know if you ment for "No Change" to be a required option in those votes or not, but I know it shouldn't freeze when the vote comes up. ~SDC~

I agree that the Governor screen needs descriptions of the projects. I hate having to go back to the planet screen to check the stats to see what order I want them in. Note that the Galactic Stock Exchange is a wonder, so it can't be put in the Governor's build queue because it can only be built once. Shopping district isn't a military project; it's a starbase module. There really isn't any way to see what it does in game without sending a constructor to a starbase and looki

On the larger maps I use the Agriculturist party from the Library (+5 PQ, +10 Pop. Growth, +10 Loyalty) and I take +5 PQ, +1 Speed, and +20 Pop. Growth. The 10% PQ bonus lets me colinize planets the AI wouldn't touch and start having them be productive right away, and the speed bonus gives me a slight edge in getting to the planets. This way I usually come out on top in the colonization rush, and it's only a matter of time before I have the most population, which leads to the biggest militar
Let me see if I can break into the top 250 so I'll have something to contribute.
You don't have to be a high roller to play. There's always room for one more at the PanGaean Party Palaces. Each one has a thousand and one rooms filled with every kind of pleasure imaginable, and a few you'd have to see to believe. And we can always use another overlord. Just spend a day at the party palace and I know you'll never want to leave. ~SDC~

You can build as many trade starbases as you want and the bonuses will stack. They only work when they're in the same sector as the mini-freighter, though. Straight-line trade routes are better if you're using trade starbases because the mini-freighters always go diagonal first, so if it's not straight-line they won't go through the same sectors on the return trip.
The idea of an after-the-fact, unvoted, pay-the-UP-just-because-you're-human tribute really borks up my role-playing, man. :sniff!:
You pay the tribute to the UP after the other Civ is dead, but the UP doesn't keep up the payments of dead Civs. Makes logical sense to me, if that's what you want. :) ~SDC~

Ok, I give up. Why did you have research victory turned off? Culture victory I can understand, because you could win that way by accident when you were still trying to get that last AI to ally with you or building up to wipe them out. But Research and Alliance you can always pull back from the turn before you win and still have the option open if Military falls through. So why turn it off? ~SDC~

There's a but in the current version that crashes the game when you get the tech sharing UP vote and you have techs with IDs over 200. Cari posted a new tech file with them all renumbered for people to use until it was fixed. So that's why I left them starting at 156. I asked Cari what would happen if two techs from mods had the same ID and she said "Um, it should assign a new ID to the second one." so I figured it was safe. The only way I knew to check for balance was to play a game with th
