I use EasyCleaner by Toni Arts. It seems to work well, but frankly, I really wouldn't know. It's free, nice GUI and has a few more tools with it. I downloaded it from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

The following error occurred when I tried to upgrade/install to v.2.20.024: Move: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock\trayserver.exe 0 (32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) Now, this is lousy. I don't even have DX loaded up now, and I still get the message. Also, I bet this has something to do with why DX is maxing out my CPU to the point of not being able to run DX at all. See above message from me. Any thoughts on the mat
Well, I tested my RAM. It's good. I tested my HD's. They're good. I've downloaded and run AVG. It caught a trojan that Norton missed, Backdoor Delf. I haven't had Kazaa on my machine in over a year. I guess these trojans have been quietly residing ever since my son downloaded Poser. Amazing. I'm not sure what they were doing though. But, my computer hasn't frozen all day. the only thing I haven't done yet is open and clean the box. Maybe tomorrow. Jafo, speaking o
I have an excellent sense opf humor.
Interestingly, I was running SpyBot S&D when my computer froze. So, I unplugged it and watched some of the Olympics. Came back, plugged in my computer and downloaded a program from majorgeeks called a-squared. I ran it, and lo and behold! it found four trojans - 3 instances of Backdoor Delf and one of TrojanSpy Win32.Justin. Nothing else found these. This little program may be a good find. I d

Heat was one of my thoughts, also. I have a really old mobo, 440BX, on a Dell that is about ten years old. So, it doesn't have heat monitoring capability. Flaky RAM never occurred to me, though I've had the same problem in the past. I replaced some RAM about five years ago, and increased it by adding another 256mb a year ago. I suppose that's a possibility. I think I'm going to try AVG. I think it really sucks that Norton charges so much money. They can keep their product
I have a major problem. I will be working with my computer, then all of a sudden, the thing just freezes up. Completely. It's not my mouse battery, which of course is the first thing I checked. My computer becomes so frozen, as in everything, that the only way to get it functional is to unplug it. I've tried the reset button, but that just reboots my computer into a frozen state. A friend of mine suggested that maybe it's a virus or trojan. How do I figure which one? I run Nort
Thanks, Hus. For some reason, I just assumed that you can upgrade directly from SDC without having to exit a program. I dunno why I thought that. Anyway, I unloaded DX, and voila! Works like a charm.
This is a first for me. Every time I try to update the lastest DesktopX via SDCentral, I get the following message: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) Result: Installation failed Prior to this, I'd get messages that instructed me to restart my computer, but that's normal. This isn't. Do I have to unload DX now to upgrade it? TIA <img src="http://im
Interesting question, though the answer was rather cute. Anyway, when I look for a WB, my favorites are ALWAYS those that have the "start" word replaced with a graphic or with anything else. I really hate that MS uses the word "start". "Menu" is good. I just really hate "start". JMHO <img src="http://images.stardock.c
So, for those of us who are not exceptionally computer savvy, would you recommend downloading SP2 at this time? I run XP Professional. Are there any differences in WB between Pro and Home Edition? I guess I'm a bit nervous about downloading SP2. Recommendations would be helpful. TIA <img src="http://images.stardock
An additional note...... Voting is our option, is our right, is our responsibility. But, to have an election stolen by a bunch of thugs who deemed most black voters as disqualified, thereby throwing out their votes is unconsionalble. Mind blowing, even. I, for one, am going to vote. Absolutely. Even though I think they are all a bunch of lying sacks of garbage, I'm tossing my vote to Kerry/Edwards. Anything it takes to get that unqualified megalomaniac out of the White Hou
It is also worth mentioning that those sixteen words in the state of the union were 100% true. Bush isn’t a liar, Saddam did attempt to obtain yellowcake uranium Joe Wilson is a liar, and Kerry still supports him on his website. And, you KNOW this because........... Dubya told you so? Cheney told you so? Halburton told you so?<b
I never knew installing software could be so dangerous, I shall have to include a disclaimer in all future posts in threads of this nature Hmmmmm....... gee, how litigous am I feeling today? Actually, if you read my message again, you'll see tha
I did the deed this morning, and everything is tickettyboo. Except my ankle. I thought I broke it yesterday afternoon, but xrays show no fracture. Just a lousy sprain. So, I'm home from work today, blitzed on painkillers, and playing with my computer. Oh well........... Thanks Tiggz! <img src="http://images.
Oops!! Sorry, Tiggz. Ends with a z, not with an s.
Thank you, Tiggs. I just installed the latest DX from SDC last night, hoping it would resolve the problem. It now shows that I again have the latest greatest DX, but I don't. So, I'm gonna do the uninstall/reinstall deed tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.
Tiggs, thanks for the post. Amazing! Even though SDCentral doesn't indicate an available upgrade, and even though my DX states I have the latest build, I obviously don't. The Properties tab does not have the align buttons. Even though all align boxes are checked, it's not aligned, and that's one problem. Also, when I toggle the color, this script error shows: Object doesn't support property or method 'desktopX object(...).states' Line 53 Code: (not available) G
Thanks, Phoon. I just ICQ'd her the suggestion. I'll post back her progress in case anyone is interested, and who also has lots of devious and immoral junk on thier computers. Sheesh.......... Some people have absolutely no scruples. Give 'em money and they'll gladly ruin anyone's computer. > <img src="http://images.star
Shameless, thank you very much. I'll pass the message on to my niece.
My niece allowed a bunch of spyware to enter her computer, and only now is she getting smart about it. Specifically, the Lycos Sidesearch is making her crazy, in that every time she surfs the web, or tries to search for something, that stinkin' Lycos pops up and brings her system to a crawl. So far, she's tried omnispy, aol spysearch, spybot search and destroy and bazooka, but nothing is getting rid of it. I told her I'd pose this question to the computer gurus here. Any ideas?
