You could always pick a high sensor bonus for the humans too. You might not start knowing where things are but you'll have the edge on keeping track of things as the game goes on.

Am i the only one who thinks the new green turn button looks way out of place? I like it. It doesnt look all that out of place as it only starts glowing once you have made all of your aviliable moves for the turn.
I upgraded my survey ship once but it seemed to charge me way way more than the upgrade window said it would. I crashed several thousand BC into the red and never managed to crawl back out of the financial black hole. My empire stopped developing and was destroyed, being so early game it proved fatal. I can't remember the exact numbers but I think I thought I would be charged about 400BC and found it took around 9,000BC. Ouch.
I ram my tax rate and spending up to 100% and adjust downwards over time as my fleet grows expensive to maintain (reduce spending to cover maintenance) and as approval starts to wane (lower tax). If your empire is competitive the people tend to be happy paying higher taxes so that's no problem. Thought occurs, are you guys taking out loans to buy more ships/structures quickly? I rarely if ever take out a loan and instead rely on the high government spending to complete t
Personally when a ship is built I will click the blue message icon to view the planets star point and launch the ship. When I go back to the map I can find it quite easily either by knowing where that colony is or using the find button to locate it.
Delete does not appear to permanently erase designs. At least, I always delete obsolete ship designs, and I have ships coming back from old games all the time. Interesting, they seem to stay gone when I do it.
I think the Terror Star is making a comeback, but I'm not sure how its going to work. Or its already in and I missed it.
I think there were some, not sure if they've been removed or are bugged, I hadn't noticed they'd gone.
On the shipyard there is an 'obsolete' button and a 'delete' button. The obsolete button removes a design from your current game, the delete button permanently erases the design.
Well, in the detail window of the planet management screen, you have the option to destroy a colony. The only problem would be to have evacuated the people to use them on another invasion. That's a good point, you could always put your spare transports (if any) into orbit once you have conquered the planet then re-launch them carrying full load
I don't think so. But, once the Battle of the Gods scenario is sorted it will be possible to start a gme with all techs researched so you could create your designs in that game and use them in your normal games. It is intended that your custom designs will become availiable to you as each gme progresses, thought occurs though, if you play as different race you will probably have to redesign the ships due to the different hull designs.
Wow, killed that discussion. Hey I said that adding female pics to the game is purely cosmetic and I got the evils for it. I'm saying nothing.
I haven't tried creating a game with such extreme diplomcy bonuses but I have found that the AI will refuse to trade military techs with you if your military is powerful. I assume similar 'common sense' limits apply elsewhere.
GC2 does have a system where certain planet tiles give bonuses to a certain type of structure. Increased output for a research building placed on this tile etc.
Ohhh... I agree with axhed. The ability to glass a planet from space would be greatly appreciated. Often times, I won't want to take over a low quality enemy planet, and would much rather bomb every last creature off of it. Well, and glass it to a class zero to prevent future occupation. There is a huge flaw with including a direct orbital bomb
If I'm building a ship production world then I put down a starport first as it's cheap and quick to build then I put down say 3 factories. Once those are done I evaluate the colony and build either a farm, entertainment centre or more factories. Depending on the size of the world I might put down some unique structures once the colony is up and running. On a world where I don't intend to build ships, if its a small world I go straight into research labs/market centres, on larger wo
Yes and no. You can use invasion tactics to soften up the enemy as your troops go in but you can't just blow up a colony. If you could then the game would come down to who has the biggest blob of ships which would tour the galaxy annihilating worlds and not bothering to take them over.
Just in case you aren't too late, download Stardock Central from www.stardock.com and go from there.
yea i know but in some threads is says that this game is not a space battle game. Anyway i´ve also read that a smaller ship can beat a novice battleship (therefore the dices..) so i was just wondering Why? why the aggression in the races if this game isn´t to be "based" on space battles? I'm not completely sure what you mean here but
Early beta's actualy had that option, there was a series of check boxes so you could select/deselect victory conditions. I hadn't actualy noticed the option had been removed. I assume it will be possible through a custom scenario instead.
Looks very good though, can't wait for release, almost don't want to play the latest beta because now I know it can't compare to what isn't released. Keep playing and submitting bug reports and tweak suggestions, the more feedback Stardock gets the better the final release will be and the quicker ny problem get patched up in the future.
That doesn't mean that you SHOULDN'T want the battles to look nicer and more realistic. I'm also one of the people who likes strategy much more than any tactical part, but it sure would be beautifull to see these ships that I designed with love, care, development and money to slug it out in GRAND style. I don't need to control them. I understand that the developmen
and will there be anything higher than beta 5 cause i still have .80a(b).002 The gamma builds I imagine will be .90a.001 and up while the release version is 1.00.00 Gamma builds are going to be a closed beta with hand picked testers starting early january. As the game is due to ship in Febuary I imagine gamma will run until the end
Excellent news, deleting the mygames folder did the trick, I can now play GC2 again! Wonder if it was a dodgy pref.ini in there restoring the last used settings and knackering it all up. Was very annoying anyway. Nice one Lucky Jack.
I have no idea whatsoever to do with a debug.err file other than email to whichever Stardock dev asks for it. I've sent in two Smart Exception reports I think, one from the original crash and a second after I reinstalled without multimedia. I didn't know about the my games folder (or I forgot), I'll try uninstalling and manually deleting that too.
