shoulda gotten beta when it came out. no way i can get to veteran and then diplomat. oh well life goes on. Promotion largely goes off the impression you give to Stardock, as Frogboy said some more people will be upgraded before the gamma so you never know.

There are no territory mechanics in gc2, its come up a few times and the main reasoning seems to be that closing off space restricts the flow of the game and impacts negatively on culture/economic tactics. To pull off a culture win a civ needs to be able to place cultural starbases near to another civs planets, closed territory prevents that.

I really don't see a point to those cinematic battles. Sure, they're fun to watch. But when you're at war and taking on multiple battles, they can get quite annoying. I like the traditional GC1 style of battles better to be honest. Am I missing something? Can you manipulate the ships using the Cinematic mode? Can you assign what ship should attack what? Or is it purely for

I would have to agree, an alien race should not just be allowed to set up shop within your established borders. The attempt to come into your space should be questioned unless invited. Having the option to say "get out of my space or else" adds abit of reality, you wouldn't see the Russians coming over to the United States and saying were going to put our stuff here and th

Done some more trial and error testing to try and get around this but it seems I'm screwed. I have uninstalled GC2 including using the "remove all save games" etc option in SDC. I have then manually deleted to total games directory that GC2 was installed in. I have rebooted my computer as prompted by SDC. I have downloaded a fresh installation. Attempting to create a new game still results in a CTD when accpting the map options. I did not install multime

Thats kinda dissapointing. I thought the invasion and population of planets would have improved and become more complex in gc2 Well it has improved, it feels much more substantial than it did in GC1. Also you are now reuired to research invasion tactics rather than just starting with them. The dev's havent had time to look into re-developing

If you look at the various techs (say lasers) you'll notice that each new design doesn't neccessarily improve across the board. One model might be cheaper but take up more space. Another might be larger, more expensive but deal 2 points of damage. Some models are just all round better than a model 2 or 3 generations earlier. The point is that a new model isn't necessarily always better on a specific new ship design, sometimes you're better off backing up a generation or two. The w

When attempting to create a new game and selecting galaxy options, clicking next causes a CTD. Annoyingly I cant seem to stop it doing thois now. I have completely uninstalled and then deleted the GC2 folder. I have done this andresinstalled twice, once with multiimedia and then without multimedia. It won't stop CTD'ing on me.

Well, that was done in the latest beta. And some can be very difficult to spot. I agree, the current red dot size is pretty fiddly and small, maybe re-enlarge them to half way between the original size and the current?

I think thats already in, annoyingly I cant check which options atm as I'm trying to fix my knackered install. If you cycle through the options (losse, tight, scattered or random star clusters) you should see a random option.

Showed my brother who's visiting over christmas the latest GC2 build and he pointed out a nice little thing. The number of troops (on a transport/colony ship and even the invasion screen) could be better expressed by either adding "000" onto the end (i.e a troop ship with 500,000 troops.) or adding a K to express the same thing (500k). this moves the system away from the more abstract numbers without causing any change in the game mechanics. At the moment when you look at

Maybe the yellow ships further away are more capable - I haven't checked. The only adaption I've seen and it's a clever one - is the inclusion of armour on the Acrean Defender ship. This design actually gives my pictured design a run for it's money. Their "attack" style ships - arguably their most important - will be summarily vaporised if they venture within the range of

With battles is it only one fleet vs another fleet, what I mean to say is if 3 different races are at war with eachother are we gonna see a 3 way battle. Also if 2 races are allied, can a players allies join a battle against a common enemy? It's always 1 on 1 as each race takes its turn individually and only one race can have ships in a square

Please make the Mass Driver attack sequences better (MiniBalls, Mass Drivers, etc). The stupid "two balls hover from both sides and slam the ship" thing has got to go! That is the thing that I think looks worst in the game for graphics right now. Could it be changed to look more like a naval warship broadside? A series of smaller projectiles f

Totally agreed, its really coming together now and it just feels good. I'm looking less at what isnt there and more at what is, which must be a good sign. Well done so far Stardock, all the hard work is starting to show through.

I) During planet invasion, if I hit spacebar to determine the advantage roll the invasion is cancelled and I return to the main screen. Clicking on accept attacks as normal. II) I'm convinced tht the rankings in quarterly reports are backwards again with weakest race coming 1st. III) The Altarians offered me a tech exchange, I declined, when I tried to make the exchange myself they flat out refused the swap. Surely they would still find it acceptable? IV) Alot

2) On the window that lets you rename/disband/change type of a rally point, add a "move" button, at which point clicking anywhere on the map or minimap moves the rally point to that location. Not as convenient as item one, but since this isn't something you'll be doing as often as scrolling the map, I don't think that's a major issue. My thinki

- First, the inability to use an already existing model as a blue print. If I would like to build 3 ships that looks similar and can be used at the same time, I need to buid them from scrath each time. A duplicate button is really missing Totally agree, I quite often want to clone a ship design which I can then modify to create a new design rat

Ground invasions are reportedly getting an overhaul at some point but there's no info on what form they will take. It is unlikely that you will be given any control over the troops (past the current invasion tactic selection) so the re-working will be mostly cosmetic (animation/video etc).

5 Replies 8,643 Views

I'm staggered that you see something so cosmetic as being so important! You will be able to make your own pic for custom races, theres a screenie somewhere of Frogboy's custom race with a cartoon charicature for the leader image so there's always that option.
