"buy the game!" "buy the game!"Wow, such wonderful help.Maybe I'll buy it... but I'd like to when it maybe isn't in BETA!!!
And as such need not worry about where it installs itself then, or what alterations you need do to your registry. As when you do purchase the release version it will all happen automatically for you :)
So it throws it into the /ToTa subdirectory of the main GC2 directory? What does your reg key say for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\ToTa\EXE ?(may be something other than ToTa on that line - would probably need that too)If I could do this without having to drop 30$ that would be best. Thanks for the help
Umm yup i have to agree with the above, please purchase the game!

Try installing this > [link="https://www.galciv2guide.com/mfc71.zip"]mfc71.zip[/link] and see if that sorts the issue out. The latest beta uses it for the editors but it may stop the game from loading too. Worth a try i guess. PS the link is from my domain where i put it up to make it easier for people to d/l until the issue with the beta is rectified next week.

Have you turned the Anti Aliasing down to zero in the game? Doing that will help. In latter parts of the game it does need a large amount of graphics capability and processor power to get through a turn. I have a dual core 6800 and a GeForce 7700 and i still get a lag in the latter parts of the game (ie a turn can take a min or so to process).

Yup it would be down to the integrated graphics. That and you are running Vista too. Make sure all other programs are closed and that you have turned off all advanced imaging for Vista (ie shut down the transparrency and other advanced options). All of those are real resource hogs!
Well met me first say that I wholeheartedly apologize to anyone who is disappointed in the release date being pushed back. - goign to be a lot better game than any of us had anticipated when we first started.
Thank you for the update Frogboy :D Please understand most of us are not overly concerned about the due date, more about the lack of recent communication on what is happening etc. Its always good to hear from you and we know TA will be a spectacu
If you guys think these delays are bad, be a huge fan of the upcomming Star Craft 2...
Its not the delays that overly concern me, more the total lack of communication regularly that worries me. As Kryo says everyone has been busy but doing what? It still appears to me at least that there are fewer and fewer people working on TA. Surely, if everyone worked together they could get the game finished quickly. It was apparent that all the staff assisted in the release of S
i was talking to Cari (CariElf) before and she told me that the rest of the editors may be out when the game is initially released. She's not 100% sure though.-Dave
Seems to be more of an 'If' than a when at the moment :(
Actually in regards to editors, I believe that with the Map Editor release came with the condition that unless the beta was leaked onto bittorrent more editors would be released. Of course the beta was leaked onto bittorrent, so that is a

Cari has been ill for a while so there has been no recent update. I think it is just two or three devs working on TA now and yes, things do seem to have nearly ground to a halt on the 'keeping the people with the money informed' front. However i am sure they are working like beavers behind the scenes.. Right? [I](sorry guys i am a huge fan of yours but with no communications on the ETA for the full release or keeping up with the beta release schedule you talked about i can only guess y
A nagging question that I have had concerning screenshots: If GCII doesn't support taking screenshots from within the game then why is there an option for the screenshot format in the options screen?Every thread that I have seen on screenshots states somewhere that you must use a 3rd party program for getting screenshots. (FRAPS is the most commonly suggested.) I'm confused!
It does support taking screenies from within the game. Simply press CTRL+PRT SCRN (may be SHIFT i

Is there any chance we could please have Metaverse games enabled with the next version of the TA beta. It must be close now to full release and i for one really miss the opportunity to post a score for the games i have been playing. It seems an age since i was able to participate in the Metaverse along with many other players of whom i am sure would like to play the MV again too. So this is just a small "Please sir can we we have" question :) Many thanks <P

Nothing is ever hopeless but from experience a fansite is hard to get going. I was lucky with the Galactic Core as it came from a time when the Metaverse meant something and the boards were alive with empires battling each other for supremacy. Those days are now long gone and the Metaverse battle is a shell of what it used to be. The top empire now (the Diplomats) is made up mainly from retired members of the original golden days of the MV from GC1 who met through the neutral grounds offered to
