Try installing this > [link="https://www.galciv2guide.com/mfc71.zip"]mfc71.zip[/link] and see if that sorts the issue out. The latest beta uses it for the editors but it may stop the game from loading too. Worth a try i guess. PS the link is from my domain where i put it up to make it easier for people to d/l until the issue with the beta is rectified next week.
Have you turned the Anti Aliasing down to zero in the game? Doing that will help. In latter parts of the game it does need a large amount of graphics capability and processor power to get through a turn. I have a dual core 6800 and a GeForce 7700 and i still get a lag in the latter parts of the game (ie a turn can take a min or so to process).
Yup it would be down to the integrated graphics. That and you are running Vista too. Make sure all other programs are closed and that you have turned off all advanced imaging for Vista (ie shut down the transparrency and other advanced options). All of those are real resource hogs!

It must be close now to full release and i for one really miss the opportunity to post a score for the games i have been playing. I believe choosing the 'No Surrenders' option at the start of the game stops them from giving up their last planet. Seems to have worked in all the games i have used it in.
Sell them to one of the minor races for loads of moolah :D

Nothing is ever hopeless but from experience a fansite is hard to get going. I was lucky with the Galactic Core as it came from a time when the Metaverse meant something and the boards were alive with empires battling each other for supremacy. Those days are now long gone and the Metaverse battle is a shell of what it used to be. The top empire now (the Diplomats) is made up mainly from retired members of the original golden days of the MV from GC1 who met through the neutral grounds offered to
