I used it for a while, but stopped b/c I ended up adding rather busy threads and that was a lot of email to delete. It'd be nice to have both a "no mail" option and "daily summary" option. Not that I'm a greedy end user or anything...

IAmTheRad, you raise two questions for me: 1) Did you have just the one war between you & a minor going? 2) Did you see the Peackeepers attack the minor's ships? If I understand this mega event adequately, it seems like minors would almost always get hit hard b/c they have no influence areas.

modding such as renaming races Renaming the built-in races sort of works in the game UI--you can change your empire name & ruler name during setup for a new game. But the UI has some places where default race names seem hard coded. I call my version of the Thalans "the Swarm" and I see that name in places like the Most Powerful Empires

When it comes to voting on policies in national government ideally every citizen would make their own individual vote on each issue. The only reason such a system isn’t used is because it would cost too much to organise the vote counting. This is at least half wrong, and probably more. Computer networks certainly raise the idea of direct democra

But with that said the Torians are probably the best all round race. That's if you can stand the thought of those flat-headed "good means submitting to our will" rassa-frassa... The "best" race to play will be depe

Well, first I should say that fast typing skills aren't always an asset, especially when cocktails are involved as they were for several of my recent late-night posts Re Mumble's basic request for a "sanity check" on the plan so far, I still think it is idealistic to hope for "no red tape" b/c you are trying to create a formal organization. Rules and procedures inevitably produce unexpected outco

The number pad - hmmm? I think you mean the arrow keys? The arrow keys always work for ship/fleet movement, but they can only do up, down, left, and right. On most keyboards, the "number pad" is on the far right and looks like a little ATM or POS terminal. To get this part of your keyboard working for ship/fleet movement, you might need

GW, I ... realize that you’re not totally aware of the entire discussion that’s occurred over three threads or so. What I was looking for was guidance about the elimination of red tape ... I’m looking to cut through all the crap and get to the essence of what makes a successful representative group. Now I'm sure I should have read up fully befor

couldn't edit: I meant posted for inspection and agreeance by said empires Lately, I'm half-sure the "failure" of an attempt at editing a post means that someone's made a post after the one you're trying to edit. @GreatEmporer: Your question/comment makes me more sure I was hasty in "joining" the threads without fully catching up on them

Super Hippies I'd very much like to see some sort of "wizard" step that entabled us to define a custom super ability to use in place of one of the standard super abilities. Not that I'm a horribly demanding software user, second-generation counterculture person, dangerous freak, et cetera ...

Oh my god....... OH MY GOD.... All hail Will Wright! That looks bloody BRILLIANT! I can't wait! EA is distributing this? If this game is a dissapointment, you know where to point your fingers, I wouldn't rave about this gam

One more point from someone nowhere near caught up reading about this council/constitution stuff: using basic search on the page for this thread, I saw several weighty-seeming uses of "document." If y'all are even semi-serious about that word in the larger context of a "constitution," you should be working collectively on a separate file. In for-profit terms, I'm talking about online collaboration technology. But the impulse here seems not-for-profit, which makes me suspect the "execut

Mumble's nagging me to participate in this stuff more directly. I'm still reading the "Anyone Out There" thread and beginning to think I need to start a dedicated notes file. I've not read a bit in this thread beyond noting its extreme youth. You all are using the word "constitution," and I'm pretty sure most of you are US born or know more about US history than we "natives" tend to know about others. Please keep in mind that the framers of the US Constitution took *months* to draft the

I just sent my screen cap to [email protected]. It was "everywhere" for me, but Mumble correctly notes that none of us are likely able to use that word precisely in this context. I don't know how many different threads I checked for the ads, but it was certainly not much more than a dozen. p.s. I'd love to hear a brief report on what this was and/or how Stardock fixed it.

I ask that you do not judge me by the color of my skins, the size of my hardware, or my deeply held strategic beliefs. I have a dream, that one day, people of vastly different opinions on mods, tactics, and aesthetic starship design can come metaphorically together in one place, in mutual respect, then try to desperately and utterly destroy one another. <b

It would also be nice to apply the influence #'s used to sway a planet to sway a ship in a failing military to join your fleet. This notion seems almost worth a different thread. I don't usually think about my influence strength when I'm on the Foreign Policy page other than noting that strong influence is a minus with the AIs. But this seems lik

I was about to post a derogatory statement in another thread towards the OP, because the way they show up it looks like the OP created it. That was my first impulse as well, but by chance both work and play have had me wearing my tattered tester's hat lately, so I poked around several random threads and saw the same thing everywhere. GW. I'm sure I'm committing some forum faux pas, but when I saw the ADVERTS appearing at the bottom of the OP in every thread, whether or not I was signed in, well I remembered Mumble's title for this thread. I really want Stardock to succeed commercially, but I'm a paying customer both in terms of cash for licenses and the "labor" I've put into making a share of my posts around here attempts at being "useful" to other players and/or Stardock. I admit I also use the forums "just fo

Something that can be turned off is a lot less important, I think, then issues like how intelligently the AI adapts from map to map and situation to situation. Point well taken. I guess part of my impulse to gripe was because I really liked seeing the Big Things happen but I balked at not being able (willing?) to work through them. And

Does the Metaverse collect this kind of data? Or on a half-wild tangent, is there any chance of extracting some value from the epic generator work to build some Metaverse data collection that cuold help devs, esp. re long game vs. short game stuff?
