Agree with u here. Its better to have something in a tile producing then nothing. Building a industrial sector for example can take forever, it would be much better to be able to just build a basic factoy then upgrade it up to a industrial sector. Sure, u can buy the industrial sector but u do not always have the money to do so. Even pulling in 3000+ bc a turn, I find upgrading ships and buying trade goods/galactic achievements/specials tends to take up all my money for the most pa

If you're a veteran strategy gamer, once you begin understanding the game you will find how flawed the AI is. Personally, the AI never gave me a challenge. I am a veteran strategy gamer with 20+ yrs experience. When I sit down to play a strategy wargame against a computer or other human opponents, I expect to win, I am not being big headed
All races have poor social skills. As soon as there military rating is 2-3 times yrs they all become big bullies. No difference if they r good, neutral or evil, its a slightly annoying part of the game. Good races should really be more inclined to achieve victory via peaceful means, ie cultural, tech or diplomatic. Well evil through good old military conquest. Neutral free to follow any path.
Chris_V nicked all the points I would have made, I agree with everything he said. Large is better than medium but not twice as powerful. This is for game balance. Making large 2x medium would seriously over power the tech. Each increase in hull size is step up in power (20% - 40%) overall.
Hi, first off, I highly recommend this game its one of the best turn based strategy games around. To answer yr question, in the original release there was kind of a bug which mean't that the AI's the majority of the time seemed to follow the same weapons tech path, this was made more noticable with tech trading giving everyone the same tech's (not a bug, really, the player taking advantage of the game rules). Both of those have been addressed very, very quickly with previou
aphrodesiac is actually one of the good trade goods/ galactic achievements that the AI build. Another one is xanium hull plating. They also like to build diplomactic translators.... Yea, I completely agree with this, been playing the highest level for sometime now and can not remember the last time I got one of those specials. All 3 r nice to
I have had heavily armed starbases and during wars the AI sends fleet after fleet against them to be destroyed. I was playing the Drath and had a maxed out military resource so the defenses were more then doubled. I was playing on suicidal level, 1.11 and the miltary ratings of my enemy was 200+ compared to my 30 something. They also had a large weapon tech advantage. The starbases provided a wall for the AI to bang there heads on, so starbase defenses r well worth researching given the righ
After the UP resolution was up, speeds returned to normal The UP resolution on speed of consructors lasts the entire game. Very annoying.
Going Neutral may not require you to research Terraforming, but it is a good idea to anyway. Then you can get the Aphrodesiac trade good. I always let the AI build the aphrodesiac then conquer the planet its on. Keeps the AI occupied well u do something else. An AI always trys to get it early game.
Ok, tell me. I don't mind the whole pain on death part! Knowing what creativity does is worth it Sorry, I am not 100% sure what creativity does. I have read loads of different threads on this forum and neither does anyone else. Stardock seem to delight in not telling us. The best guess is<TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" al
the only thing neutral has going for it is the extra research bonus Which means u end up with better weapons then evil, even with yr fancy bonus weapons techs. I love the PQ bonus even more then the neutral learning centres, u also do not after bother with soil emhancement, habitat and terraforming techs as u get those for free. The morale bo
Ahhhhh.......a happy ending.......
Can anyone explain how the creativity bonus works. We could but then we would after feed u to a drengin! Stardock classified this top secret. Revealed only on pain of death.
Psycho is a bored, attention seeker who has had a shit life. It's best to just pity him.
The distilled wisdom is neutral is best, most powerful. The neutrality learning centers and pq bonus r fantastic, with other extras on top, neutral is the way to go. I would say evil is second best, with the excellent offensive weapons in a game that rewards 1st strike (may change in 1.2). Also u benefit early game by making all them evil moral choices. Good is the worst. Its hard to be good and GC 2 lets u know this in no uncertain terms. The galaxy is stacked against
I only play on medium or smaller maps with all the settings on abundant. The game zips along with few noticeable delays. I found gigantic to be a nightmare, even with rare settings, the game slows down to a crawl later on. I guess I just do not have the machine specs to play on gigantic, maybe after my next upgrade. Noticed the cut scene movies flow real smooth at the start of the game but later on become really jerky and slow. Obviously some memory is being used up somewhere to c
Not familiar with Hamilton. Any titles you'd recommend as an introduction to the author? The Night's Dawn Trilogy The Reality Dysfunction The Neutronium Alchemist The Naked God and The Commonwealth Saga Pandora's Star Judas Unchained All real page turners.
Very good, enjoying it alot. Not many story writers on this forum which is a shame. Yr style of writing reminds me a little of Peter Hamilton, a excellent sci-fi writer.
Asked me for 1.1 which was a nightmare that I prefer not to revisit. Fortunately 1.11 it let me just get on and enjoy playing GC 2, thank u gaming gods!
I play alot of games with settings, set to all abundant and I have never had a precursor library. Until I see a screenshot, I do not believe they exist. They r a figment of someones twisted imagination or someones idea of a joke.
Eurovision proud Sorry, but those 2 words should never be together in the same sentence! Good costumes and makeup, reminds me of my live roleplaying days.
Wow. There have been so many threads on this subject. I think it is pretty much down to random luck, game settings, your style of play etc........ Every player seems to have different strong/weak races.
t's a random #. Thanks. My computer must like the random number 1. As that is the number of minor races I get per game.
There is no such thing as an 'exploit' in GC2 for the simple fact that the AI can't win a game against a human player. It might make it tough to win (for a while). But that's it. I've read hundreds of posts here since getting the game a few weeks ago. The number of comments relating to the AI actually winning a game? NONE. You can't exploit something
Poor AI planet management allows me to remain playing on the highest levels I agree with this, if the AI started really using its planets to near capacity, then suicidal level may become impossible. Is playing
