look at it this way ... if your family have a load of shopping bags to unload from a car ... do you, your husband and your children carry equal weight ... or do you expect evryone to carry what they can without being tired?
To relate to this analogy, we don't have people carrying what they can without being tired. We have the mom's and dad's (the wealthy) carrying let's say 80%, then we have the older kids (middle class) carrying the other 20% while the younger ki

Thanks Watertown. I totally agree that we need to have safety nets for people who are going through rough times. I'm not for taking away financial aide I just think our society has moved so far from personal responsibiltiy that we've lost sight of needs vs wants. We have so many people that don't want to do without anything now in order to be able to be financially responsible. There are things that make no sense to me to spend money on even if you "can". Like,
On another blog taxes were compared to slavery because for some, half of their work goes to the government. Many voice the opinion that those people have plenty and that money should be given to those who “need” it more. If it can be judged by others that one person has more than they “need”, shouldn’t the people having their money taken get to judge what is “needed” by those on the receiving end? I say, if you are receiving government money, you get disqualified if any of
Because even if you keep your same paycheck, if nobody has the money to buy your shitty games and inferior Windows software...suddenly you become the boss of nobody. And nobody laments your company's demise, because you aren't really providing a necessary product, you are providing a product people buy when they have disposable income to customize things.
Giving evidence of your idiocy I see. Why don't you go complain to all of the entertainment and travel indust
I'm disappointed more don't have things to say about this :(
I have a real problem. I spend way too much time on Facebook. I am totally addicted....help me! The more friends I got the more I was lead to people I hadn't seen in decades. I'm friends with my 4th grade teacher now! I have friends all over the place. Their pictures take me back to my childhood or bring me up to speed on what's going on now. I made a comment about missing MST3K and a friend introduced me to it's new incarnation, Cinematic Titanic
yep, give the money back to the people.
They don't even have to give any back, just stop taking more and more!
I hope for our country that President Obama along with our government can get things turned around. That hope is guarded though, especially when I see things on the news involving requesting a $825B stimulus package. You can't just throw money at a problem to solve it! Reign in the spending already! Time will tell. I'm just afraid that things are going to get a whole lot worse before they start getting better. In the meantime, anything that goes badly will
Damn! You wrote an excellent follow up (that I wish I had written) to my article! Very well said!
Why thank you Doc!
My comment Charles, was in reference to what is said here, in America, that is the first thing I learned when I came here, and what I have not been proven to forget.
Just interested, where did you come here from? I haven't exactly experienced blacks embracing each other as black because they have "even a drop" of black blood. In
This wouldn't be much of a site if people stopped voicing their opinions! Please don't ever stop!
I for one couldn't care less what color my President's skin is. I don't care if my President is male, female or formerly one or the other. I don't care if my President can dance or if he/she has an attractive looking family. I don't care if my President is "relatable" or "cool". I guess I'm funny about only caring that the President of our country will do what is best for all of us, equally. I don't need warm and fuzzy sentiments. I don't need talk, I nee
I think if my wife was able to choose between the experience of delivering our first 39cm headed child versus the experience of having to stand naked for 2 hours in the cold, she'd choose the latter.
No doubt about it!
Having to stand up straight for 2 hours in a cold room naked on little sleep
Sounds like most of the OB/GYN visits I've had. This is lengthy even for you ;) You demonstrated your case very well. Good show!
I am sorry if learning about African-American's contributions to history offend you. But it is a part of American history. It is, at times, a dark chapter in our history. Does that make you uncomfortable?
It neither offends nor makes me uncomfortable. I'm just fed up with the disproportionate amount of attention given to it. I'm sick to death of white people feeling like they need to apologize for something neither they nor their parents nor their grandparents did t
I am just going to bring up one more thing that I think gives proof toward what Doc is saying here: Prior to all of this hoopla over it being the first Black president and all of the references to race, my kids were blissfully blind to color as being an issue. They are being raised in a VERY culturally diverse area. They have friends of all colors and religions. When they would describe a new friend, color was usually way down the list in the description (usually after thing
I'm with Dr. Guy. I have hope that we'll come together and turn things around but it is very guarded.
This was nice too. I think whether or not you liked the guy you should respect him and consider how much of his life he gave over to our country for 8yrs.
do you not think this to be a historic day?
Isn't every inauguration day historic?
I hadn't heard that. Where "on the right" did it come from? I think the right tends to play with kiddie gloves compared to the left on such matters.
Very nice. I feel the same way. I hope he really does turn things around.
You wrote very elegantly what I was feeling today. Race was so prominent today that it overshadowed everything. It's historic because of the color of his skin? If anything, that only answers the question "does it matter if you're black or white?" YES, YES, YES! It absolutely matters. He's both, but because outwardly his skin is dark, that is what defines him. If that isn't racism alive and thriving, I don't know what is. Our society is still so immat
Shaun of the Dead...best Zombie movie ever :)
I always think what goes around comes around and you seem like a good person so some goodness is coming back to you. Hope your truck really is ready for you on Monday and you get caught up. Until then, stay warm inside that room. Best wishes.
Yep, they kept "finding" votes until he was declared the winner. I'm sure lots of lawyers will be happily employed with the matter for some time to come.
Two reasons I've never surfed 1) Jaws totally psyched me out of wanting to go in the ocean and 2) I'm in MI and always have been. Not much surfing in the Great Lakes ;) I think people should try whatever interests them weather or not others like them do it. Look at the female race car drivers. I was the only girl in my EE classes. I don't mind being the only one doing something though. I probably get that from my mom. She was the only woman fishing a
I like the comment about checking out the washing machines for your wife ;) Call me! I miss you.
