Just a thought, because I am sick of the phrase after MASH: Hawkeye: "War isn't Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse." Father Mulcahy: "Why do you say that, Hawkeye?" Hawkeye: "Simple, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?" Father Mulcahy: "Sinners, I believe." Hawkeye: "Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is full of them." — from the TV series M*A*S*H IG

I know what you are saying, but the Benny character in Benny and Joon, definately had a bit of the imp in him. The routine with the hat was incredible. Wonka was a little twisted in the movie. I mean "there's no earthly way of knowing...." on the Wonkatania. It is a good movie though. I wonder what sort of "feel" they will go for. They can't use the same dialog. Who could write it. "Violet! You're turning violet, Violet" "Wh

An interesting thought: We do not know for certain that he did not leave the tomb immediately after the rock was moved into place. I mean, the only way first the ladies and then the disciples knew something was awry was the stone being moved. I never could see the son of God laying around for three days and then leaving. I think he may have "rose", left and then when he thought it was time, moved the rock. IG

This could help. It is a link to a site that lists most of the religious beliefs that fall under the umbrella definition of "Christianity". Notice that Roman Catholicism is only one. http://atheism.about.com/library/FAQs/christian/blfaq_group_index.htm IG

Hello: With regard to the homosexual question, from what I am reading I these blogs, it seems to me that there are basically 3 ways of seeing the Bible: 1. The Bible is the exact word of God. God told the writers what to put down, and they did. 2. The Bible is the inspired word of God. The authors heard God speak to them or saw visions and wrote down what they heard and saw. This was within the culture and belief of the day.

Ok. So then we have a question. Someone who is hostile in thought or deed to a particular race of people is considered a racist. For the hatred of women it is a misogynist. Sincre we are talking about specifics, and since homophobe is the accepted but linguistically incorrect term, what is the name of a person who is hostile in thought or deed to homosexuals? Homogynist? Strictly speaking. IG

Wow, Marvin Cooley, CompassionLESS Conservative. I thought Brad's post was a little hard-hearted, but at least he had sympathy for those who had a bad roll of the dice. Yes, there are some who abuse the system, and there are some who should get off their duffs and take a job (McDs may not be great, but it will help to pay the bills). But there are some who through no fault of their own, or due to past intellectual miscalculations, have been in

Maybe the idea of European fairness comes from their history. Centuries of plague and warfare could have left them with the general idea of “we’re all in this together”. All the rebuilding and restructuring Europe went through made the rich, less rich and the poor a little better off. It could also be possible that due to the incredibly wealthy monarchs that ruled in the distant past, that the Europeans have been a little suspect of great wealth and po

Do you believe in the potential of the rock movement in music to develop to the extent that "classical" did (which took hundreds of years)? I think that if you are asking if certain songs from the 20th century will be listened to in 200 years I would say yes. I think that some of the artists of today and yesterday were and are of such caliber, that they were above and beyond contemporary standards, that their music will demand to be heard.

It seems that with regards to onanism you are taking a specific act, not making a child with your brothers wife, with the general act of masturbation. So, should we interpret the Bible specificaly or in more general terms. And, if specific, should it ALL be taken specifically? IG

That's a question I have. What is the position of the Jewish Faith? I know that there is a range of orthodoxy, type, of belief. Is there a Jewish concensus? What of Hindu? Islam? Budda? Just an inquiring mind. IG

Now please, I am not equating the two but a similar case could be made for the term “witch hunt”. It sometimes happens that when an authoritative body conducts an investigation that focuses on a particular group or a person the term “witch hunt” comes into play. And, yes, there are times when it is appropriate it is also use as a tactic to discredit the investigation. There are just certain terms that trigger a gut-reaction in the general popu

I am here at work watching a photographer set up inside a building. Now, if it is unlucky to open an umbrella up inside a building, do photographers get a sort of "karmic pass"? Some sort of "Get out of Bad Luck" card? Just some thoughts in my head. IG

I understand. With regard to the principle though, is there a presumption that they are not inherently flawed. Many people with well thought out principles have done truly horrendous things. Question, does the process change when the principled action causes harm directly related to the principled action? Does the person commit to the repetition of the action? If the action is based on principle, and the principle as not changed, would the h
