On watching Dr. Rice’s testimony and the testimony of others about what was missed, unseen, or misinterpreted, I am reminded of another event in our past: On January 27, 1967, three astronauts, Lt. Col. Virgil I. Grissom, Lt. Col. Edward H. White and Roger B. Chaffee, entered their Apollo One capsule, which sat on the launch pad for a “plugs-out” test. It i

It’s bad now. It’s going to get worse. The smaller Iraqi groups are getting bolder and more organized. Nothing unites like a common enemy. And that leaves me with three general questions: First: Did we have a contingent exit strategy? Did it include flexibility or at least the contemplation that there were people sympathetic to those who orchestrated 9-11 who

Sorry, busy at the home this weekend. One thing. Constitutional rights are not absolute. The government can put restrictions on them. We have freedom of speech, but you cannot legally say anything w/o legal consequences. We have freedom of assembly, but you cannot just assemble anywhere, also with the press. The government, backed by the courts, has limited, is certain situations, the rights given by the Constitution. Also, may
The question is, how do we sneak it past the NRA. Who will bell the cat? IG
Sorry, I'm late. Dharmagrl: You basically have my opinion correct. My idea would be to take the system of getting a drivers license and apply it to getting a firearm. First would be the written test. Does the person know the basic workings of the standard guns (auto and non-auto). Then a class. How to operate, clean and store your firearm. Teach the person how to do these things; how to store a gun if children
But wouldn't the desire to carry a gun imply a willingness or at least a predilection to use it? Owning a handgun and carrying a handgun are very different situations with different mental processes involved. IG
True, but how many times do you hear on the local news that Mr. Jones stabbed Mr. Smith when an argument they were having got out of hand? as opposed to Mr. Smith got in his car and ran over Mr. Jones when an argument they were having got out of hand? Proximity is part of the problem. IG

I guess my question is one of details. In general, what do the Palestinians want. I have heard that they want their own state, alright, let’s start from the UN map from the 60s. Do they want a contiguous state, or is the separation do-able. Also, not immediately or considering Hamas, how do the Palestinians feel about Israel? If they desire its total removal, there will never be peace and Israel will have to re-evaluate its policies. If some sort of un
Background: I basically think that the “gay marriage” idea is the wrong way to go. It has too much of a spiritual connotation to it and that’s what the people are reacting to. The next course of action is a civil union. But this has its own problems as well. Namely, a civil union granted in one state will not automatically be valid in another state. This could be why they are pushing for the marriage aspect. Since marriage is recognized at the Federal
I believe that the desire for power is the driving force behind political machines regardless of size. And this could be a good thing. The question then comes to us, what is the reason the party wants power. There are some who want to acquire power to better the lives of those around them and this group believes it has the right way to go about it. And there are those who accumulate power to extend their influence over people for the groups benefit. <B

I think this is where the everyday faithful person and the upper religious echelon part ways. I do not think that people in general believe their neighbor whom they call a “decent guy”, or a “OK guy” is going to Hell. I just can’t imagine a loving God taking a decent, hardworking, loving person and casting them into torment because they do not believe EXACTLY what the book says. If He is our Father, doesn’t a father understand that his childr

I have a suggestion. It's a bit cold. Have a disinterested third party initiate contact. Possibly a legal representative. Not a "full" lawyer, but someone who would respect the confidential nature of the relationship. They could inform the birth parent of your need for information and judging by the response, the rest would be up to you. The problem is a little, Robert Frost like: Two path's in the woods.... I hope the best for you.<
I have a question with regards to the “freedom fighter”. This individual or group will target their oppressors. Then: What are considered legitimate targets for “freedom fighters”? Is the existence of civilians or non-military personnel in the target area a consideration? When the bomb goes off killing the civilian, is it morally incumbent upon the group to pay restitution to the family and accept punishment? IG
