Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world, and people die of it just as they die of any other disease. Fortunately, in England at any rate, thought is not catching. Our splendid physique as a people is entirely due to our national stupidity. --- Oscar Wilde There was a quote I was looking

There wouldn't be a point effect, but the offender would be branded with an asterix for a week. Some kind of running talley like, "12 people this week think BoBo Blogger is a raving idiot"? That's cute (I'll even give you an insightful for it), but I don't think I could approve. No reason to hu

all i am actually doing is mailing something because it is expected ... despite the fact that everybody knows how meaningless i think that is. You mean you don't really care? *SNIFF-SNIFF* By the way, I keep meaning to star

and I'm glad I'm straight, but only because it means people keep their noses out of my business You may not be as safe as you imagine. I think there are still parts of America where sodomy is outlawed -- and it doesn't matter who's doing it to whom. Not long ago (within the past couple years) a sherif i

cheney is an entirely different story. i do dislike and distrust him. i believe hes greedy, duplicitous and possibly even dangerous. hes the best reason i can think of to keep bush alive and well. ashcroft may not be money-hungry as cheney but hes perhaps even more of a threat because he is a fanatic who clearly has no qualms whe

Italy… But, do guys have hairy legs over there? Because then… I don’t know. I guess I could live with a man with hairy legs. I just won’t touch them. Nahh, nothing hairy about Italians. Nothing at all. (whistles innocently) Maybe this will give you an idea. I heard an Italian comedienne o

Unfortunately it can also be seen on several threads here at JU. There are some people who have nursed hatred toward Reagan for decades but not had anywhere to spread their venom except amongst themselves since he left office. His passing has given them a forum to again gleefully mistake vitriol for cleverness, propaganda for facts, and minority delusion for a private reality to which they must "educate" the rest of the world. Sad indeed.

1. Will Nancy Reagan’s plea for stem-cell research change the right’s viewpoint? No. 2. If it’s true that Kerry asked McCain to be his running mate, diminish respect you might have had for Kerry? Since I don't have much respect for Kerry to begin with, no. (But then I also don't like McCain.) 3. Do you believe that the Reagan funeral was overblown? No. 4. Do you think Rap “artis

also, has anyone noticed Bush seems to have some sort of speech problem or minor impediment when giving speeches? he sounds like some slow second grader reading from a passage of David Copperfield I liked in that last speech when he tried to pronounce Abu Ghraib. He saw it coming up on the TelePrompTer

you seem to want to believe(and ive read your basis for that opinion) that i feel the reagan funeral is being orchestrated as a campaign photo-op. i may be stupid but im not yet that crazy. No, but (apparently) you went out of your way to imply Bush would purposefully use it for political gain. I gave

smartazz: well, at least your honest with that self-penned name. Thank you for agreeing that I am smart and living in Arizona. No, I know you meant it as an insult. I've said it before and I'll say it again: It is foolish to start your first contact with a person with an insult as you just did. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cen

you even use the hoary old myth about liberal bias in the media. i suppose this is the bias which led to moore's most recent film having its release blocked. "libral media" is contracted from liberal news media. The large entertainment studios tend to be more conservative -- if only in practice.

I probably shouldn't enter this debate, and don't really intend to say more than these few comments, but there are a couple of things to which I'd like to respond. First of all BakerStreet, your assumption that there aren't other ribbons for other diseases is vastly incorrect. The AIDS tragedy in fact started a trend of having different color ribbons to identify s

What is wrong with people? Don't they even want to be taken seriously? Here are some comments I've seen made recently (two right here on JU): "Bush is a c*nt." [ed. -- "vagina"] "I'd vote for my dog before I'd vote for Bush."<
