Well, we got the vice presidential debates coming up tomarrow. I am rather looking forward to however much i can catch on TV. I hope that John Edwards wil be able to deliever a clear and concies messege that is needed right now for the Kerry Campaign. I expect Kerry to outshine Cheney in almost every way as he has shown himself to be much more charismatic and capable

With regards to the U.N securtiy council seat, i believe the fact that the seat is given to Beijing is simply one of practicality, mainland china is much more powerful militaristically and economically. I have no objections with granting taiwan another seat within the UN security council. With regards to the analogy made by GX, i do not believe that it is accurate because the situations you have listed below all involve powerful nations which have con

the idea of taiwan has always been a rather controversial one in the world and in china Speaking as a former Chinese citizen (i acquired canadien citizenship 2 years ago) I do no believe that the idea of one china is simply communist propaganda. There is a strong desire on both sides to somehow unify the two province or nations (w/e u wanna call it) The taiwanese still consider themselves part of china. If you meet a taiwanese person, it is more th

I watched the majority of the debate last night and as a deomcrat well..... its rather dismal I have always been a democrat and probably always will be, although Kerry's performance and statements last night even had me confused. His comments on iraq were espically disconcerting as he refered to how Saddam Hussein was a threat yet he believed we should have watied fo

As a high school student in a school of over 1000 students, i know full well of what goes on in our school system. Simply from what i can observe on a daily basis, there is increased divisions from social groups and more distinctions and hatred against them. Contrary to popular belief, the most kids that get in trouble are not the ones that dress in black, dye their hair, or listen to marylin mason, but tend to be the complete opposite, the ones from

Lets brush aside international intreasts and human morals for a second and examine this from the practical, american point of view that brad seems to stress so much. It is not as simple as If X happens, then Y will happen. you can dumb it down as much as you want to but there is simply alot more to international politics than "action and reaction". For one thing is it really in US economic intreasts to invade iraq? Or for the intreast of national secur

"Machivelli Incorporated", Niccolo Machivelli was the 16th century political philospher who wrote "The Prince". He is credited with the first use of secular power poltics that stressed the fact that in order for a leader to succeed, they must be inmoral, cunning, irreligous, and willing to lie. He is also the first to raise the idea that it is much more beneficial to be feared than loved.

my vote would have to go to half life, in terms of atmosphere and gameplay, and storyline, very few games has come close to it. From the first few segements in the train with the voice, it has remained one of the most unforgettable games ever. However, it would be considered almost perfect except for the ending. That was a complete pile of crap, it did not tie the storyline together and left everything hanging.

well.... at least its nice to know the military is at least acknoleging this, either that or they are trying to make an example out of these guys. However, I personally believe that there are soldiers in the american army commiting far more inhumane acts than just this. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

"Need to add a killfile option to JoeUser. I enjoy reading thoughtful and educated views from those on the left. But a lot of the nonsense I'm seeing posted by some of the far left people here lately sounds like some of the idiocy you'd find on Democratic Underground or some other left wing fringe site." Does anybody else see the blantant hypocrisy here? Thoughtful and educated? i enjoy reading that stuff too but definantely nothings come f

I have nothing against honoring soldiers who fought for their country. However, this particualar shrine is offensive to the people, not the gov, Mao and Chiang has nothing to do with this issue, its not them that were put to death by japanese soldiers, it was the citizens who did nothing to bring this atrocity on themselves. I said this in my last post, it would be like puttin up a memorial for the gestapo in the middle of berlin, it offends people and reignites old passions.

Poi dog, would you consider erecting a statue to honor the german soldiers who died fighting for hitler morally right? Or maybe they should put up a shrine honoring the the operators of aushuwitz. I was born in China and have met people who have been tortured, raped, and who has family memebers that were buried alive by Japanese soldiers, putting up a shrine to honor these thugs would be a slap in the face to those who's entire lives have been ruined by these monsters. This has nothing to do

"If you have two people paying taxes and one of them pays 90% of the taxes and the other 10% of the taxes and you give both of them a 25% cut to their taxes, the first man will receive 90% of the overall benefit and the latter will receive 10%. Any fair tax cut will always provide the greatest benefit to the ones who pay the most." Well, it also just so happens that the one paying 90% of the taxes are the rich/elite class who really don't need a tax cut. "In any argument or fight,

First off, Ray, just shut the fuck up with your blatant racism and "go christians!! kill the infidels" type bullshit. Your no better than any of the terrorists. If you didnt have rocks for brains you would realized you completely missed the point of the war in iraq. If you wanna go on some christian holy crusade than thats fine with the rest of us, but i'll be rolling on the floor laughing when they drag your christian ass through some street in the middle east. If your gonna drag out some histo

I agree with FF, the Bush adminsitration has relied on a constant fear tactic to force the american people into following its seemingly ridiculous legislation. The american public cannot see their rights being slowly stripped away from them because they are too blinded by pointless terror alerts and "duck-tape your house in case of a terrorist attack" propaganda. What's even more disasterous is that from the looks of it, Bush will win the 2004 election. The democrats running for president is not
