In fact (and seeing as I'm bored herre is a list of the variables found in recent builds of Litestep. They are very handy rather than trying to use full paths for these items. Sorry if the formatting of the following text is a bit off. $LitestepDir$ References the directory where the LiteStep executable is found. $BitBucket$ References the "Recycle Bin", which is normal

That is; look for the line in the step.rc that activates the control panel. It will contain that "/root" string. Then replace the string with $controls$. $Controls$ is a built in variable in Litestep that should activate your control panel. Check the Litestep documentation that comes with Litestep for a full list of variable. They can come in very handy sometimes.

Skinning apps have come a long way in the last two years. Certainly one factor has to be the polish and professionalism of products like WindowBlinds and IconPackager. This has broadened their appeal and legitamized them to a much larger market. Perhaps it's a case of products finally reaching a "critical mass". Now their growth may be exponential. Love it or hate it, it's a genie that can't be put back in the bottle <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0

Paul, it's called wbcommand.exe you activate it using the following syntax from within the step.rc: C:\Litestep\Themes\Oberon\CustomMods\WBCommand OberonO The path points to where you have the exe. It seems to need to be a hard coded path rather than using variables. The last word is the name of the particular windowblinds skin you wish to load. I use it with my popup driven theme switching and have it change the windowblinds skin along with the litestep theme

BoXXi, your story and mine are quite similiar. Although previously I worked within a couple of apps on work computers, I've only had my own for about 3 years. I very shortly discovered Litestep and using that practically forced me to figure out what I was doing on the computer. Lucky for me

I have a question concerning Convergence and LiteStep. Obviously it would be difficult to include Litestep in the group because of Litestep's lack of standards or automated theme switching. But will there be a way to trigger convergence's "suite" switching capabilities from within Litestep? For instance there exists a little utility that I use right now to switch Windowblinds skins from within Litestep. So the same idea but with the entire Convergence "suites"? Sorry if I'm not to

At one time thought to be vapour-ware, it actually did see an initial release. It had some excellent ideas and showed good promise (with further development). Perhaps their plans were a little too ambitious because development stalled before a second release showed. Its been a long time since then (about a year and a half I think). A few of the devs are still around. One accasionally shows up on the Litestep mailing list.

I have heard that there are issues with Litespawn and win2k. I quit using litespawn before fetting win2k so I didn't experience them myself. Currently I don't use a shell manager and just modify the one reg key to point to litestep. It allows me multiple instances of explorer when needed and doesn't give me any errors. The tradeoff is having Litestep for all users. But the entire family prefers litestep anyway so thats no problem <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smi
