Hey hey. Happy birthday Paul. Hope its a great day for you
Phar0e
hmmm, Shmots and the guys over at LSDistro might know. They used several of Ceeslans themes in the distro.
Wow! That is quite an accomplishment. Congrads to the whole Stardock team.
BoXXi. Done. He wasn't online at the time, but the message should get through.
er ...well sort of *grin*
hey, /me that's pretty cool
Numbing, is the only way I can describe how this news affect me. These events certaily make one feel very vuhnerable. I certainly do. My deepest sympathy's and prayers go out to the victims of these attacks.
hehe, I gotcha Tarkus. It could be applied on top of any shell (theoretically anyways)
A library of suites though is a neat idea. You wouldn't need a lot of additional space, just a section with entries pointing to the various skins on this site. Have each suite under its common name, one screenshot of the suite, and a listing of the various skins available. er...or something like that.
hehe, I believe the total is around 225. Of which probably 150-175 actually still work with current builds of LiteStep. I would guess at around 25-40 diffrent mods are frequently (not all at once) used by themers. Although memory usage is a LiteStep "selling point"; by the time themers have had their way with all sorts of third party mods, good looks and features carry more weight than "light on the resources" <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=
So its definetly an add-on to explorer then. Is its' main method of app launching via the existing explorer start button? Are there any third party modules developed for it? ie: music player remote, calendar, weather or news ticker, those types of things. If not, could those types of things be developed in the future?
That's not to say this discussion is neccesarily over though! Tell me more And, as it's not a shell; what exactly is it?
Thanks guys, good info all around Heya Grimspoon, long time
I'm interested in a comparism between DesktopX and LiteStep. I know DesktopX isn't a shell replacement, so I'm not looking for a comparism of those type of technical details. I wondering more about what similarities exist between the two. Whether there are comparable features in DesktopX like: Shortcuts, hotspots, scripting; and what third party type mods or objects are available. I need a "seasoned expert" or two to lend me their opinions on that, to help me decide whether to
oh oh Phar0e feels bad for making ess-vid cry sorry ess-vid
Well, I suppose if extolling the virtues of a superior piece of software make some folks uncomfortable.....they could always look for somewhere more comfortable. But they might want to be careful "A" They might not be missed. "B" They might not be that welcome elsewhere. Words from not-even-close-to-a-wizop
Note to LiteSteppers. Be sure to install this while in Explorer, not while in LiteStep. It donna like installing under Litestep. After installing just switch back to LiteStep (like real quick!!).
*yawn* I suppose things wouldn't be normal around here without a thread like this every couple or three weeks. On the plus side there appears to be an abundance of regulars here that will jump to the site's defence. That is very good as it takes some of the pressure off of the admins.
yep, thats a good distro Litestep is quite powerful, and a lot of fun. But it takes a little patience, and requires some work (ie: reading). If you like tweaking your desktop, its a blast!
I think there are some systray issues as well. But that is just heresay as I haven't tried DesktopX (yet).
*snort* T-Man, you got too much time on your hands
Many Thanks T-Man. You and the other admins have built a great site.
I'm afraid the words "typing speed" are an oxi-moron when applied to me Sadly I'm not even kidding. This post took me about a minute and a half (after error correction), and there's likely still a typo in here ;0
Your best bet would be to contact the author of the shot. I believe those who posted shots there have submitted their email address. Click on their name under the shot. Should lead you in the right direction.
Glad you noticed that Jafo. Zero tolerance policy for that stuff, IMO
