A question for the admins of the Gui Olympics. If a wb skin has never been released to any skins site in the windowblinds section, but has been included before only with a Litestep theme, is it inadmmisable for the Gui Olympics? I had been planning for a while to upgrade a couple of my old litestep related wb skins (they need it bad)....just curious. I'm cool either way. I've heard of some experimenting with running a couple of those together, with mixed results. If you wondering about taking a Litestep theme (for instance) and running it in NextStart; thats not instantly do-able. You'd have to port or convert from one format to the other. They all use bitmaps for their graphics but use different configuration files and support different types of features (different modules etc.)

A fairly new distro called LsDistro is a pretty safe way to go as well. It comes with an installer as well as an uninstaller. About 7 or 8 themes comes built into the distro along with a theme swapping utility. Its pretty easy to add newer themes to that setup. Failing that a shell utility (as BoXXi mentioned) is a safe way to proceed.

Holy Smokes Jafo. That was one long entry, but very well written. I had sorta gleamed the gist of that custo thread in a half hour "skim" through it, but that nicely fleshes out the details. As I mentioned above, a few have really shown their true colors\nature, and the only one it refects on is themselves. sad...

It seems the difference between rousing discussion and out+out flaming lays on whether you're trying to get others to understand your views, as apposed to just trying to score points in a debate, and out+out insult others. I think it's safe to say that the people we migrate towards are the ones we want to be around, the ones who have like interests. Not neccesarily the exact same interests, buts thats good cause it keep discussions interesting. As for the term communities, perhaps the meaning changes depending on the situation.
