For those following the dev team discusion in this thread, interesting to note that overnight the "official" dev team has added a new member - one of those new young coders who were mentioned above. Definetly a move in the right direction. YaY!
no no, one should be able to drop the new theme into the theme directory. Then select the new theme with the theme selector or deit the step.rc to point to the new theme. Either method works, I follow the second method myself. If the theme has been properly set up to OTS structure, that's all it will take.

Sounds like we're pretty much on the same wavelength jcg. I am looking forward to what the new team puts out, but the third party builds are quite interesting, and if they keep adding features at the rate they have over the last two weeks; users and themers may be forced with a choice of new bleeding edge but unofficial builds, or official builds that seem like a step back. Maybe not so much a problem for users, but for themers like ourselves, we want to make use of cool new fe
On a bit of a spin off of the original topic as well, I'm curious to see what others thing of recent dev team developments, as well as continual recent Litestep development by third partys.
Most Litestep modules have the ability to be hidden and shown. They don't usually have that bump edge feature built in though. To create a "bump" edge along the screen edge to acivate a hide\show is easy though by using other modules such as hotspots. You define an area of the screen (like the very bottom pixel along the screen) and when the mouse enters that area it activates the hide\show of whatever ever modules you define. Some modules do have a "snap to the edge of the screen" featu
For Litestep, the program, you current best bet is Shellfront.org
Or using LiteStep you can choose whether to diplay the bin or not, and customize its appearance. Mind you that's a long way to go to just change the recycle bin
How quick the year has passed. I really appreciate the fact the Wincustomize has had a LiteStep section up here since day one. That has been a real stable spot in what has been an otherwise quite tumultous year for Litestep. Thanks very much guys, and best wishes for continued success with the site.
I'll second (or is that third :b )Omar's OTS LiteStep installer that jcg has linked to. It's state of the art Litestep and stable too! What more could we ask for

If the Russians had used the same energy in the first 2 periods against the U.S., that they have shown in their complaining; the score may have been different. Wouldn't have changed the Gold medal outcome though.

I think the US deserve to be in the finals. In terms of the world scene they are definetly one of the top 3 or 4 teams along with Canada and Russia. After that comes a group slightly less powerful including Ckeck (sp, sorry) Sweden and Finland. Those 6 teams have been the best for the last 25 to 30 years. Should be a very entertaining final today. This moment has been anticipated for a very long time in Canada. I'm not sure if there is really a sports equivilent in the US.

I do know that current versions (including OTS) will automatically recongnize where the Litestep directory is located, so it isn't neccesary to have that defined in the step.rc. uhhh, hmmmm. well, you can colorize the icons, like I did for the Ivory theme. At one time it was difficult (for me) to set up a systray in the top right position and have the tray expand dynamically to the left as icons appeared. Grdtray worked better for me (at that time) for that, so I've just kept using it. I imagine systray2 is just as good now, and it appears to be the one to be regularily updated with the core mods; so I may have to go back to systray yet <img src="h
I noticed that too Jafo. Mesage actually released a test build of both systray and grdtray3. I'm using the grdtray3 version right now and it actually works

I may have the distinction of having a one of a kind file up here at wincusto. It may be the only skin\theme\wall etc with NO graphics (bmp,jpg,png) in it whatsoever. The Litestep theme "Sparrow" creates its' look by defining colors in the step.rc. Are there any others out there? p.s. the preview shot in the file doesn't count! It's not used to create the theme.

I seem to always be left wishing it could be more time. I seem to take forever to develop a new theme or wb skin. But daily it likely amounts to 2-3 hours.

If your diving into Litestep as a newbie, I'd recommend you go the route of OTS. That is short for open theme standard. I suggest this for a couple of reasons. It has become the Litestep theme format best supported by newly released themes (meaning you should be able to download themes tagged as OTS compliant, and plug and play basically).
