I did try setting up multiple toolbars in XP. I had my Quicklaunch and then built one with all my game shortcuts. I tried some others, such as "My Computer", "My Documents", and some other stuff, but they just never did what I wanted them to do and I never stuck with them. So while you can use them I never liked them and found them to be a poor substitute to really functional stuff.

I recently had an interesting discussion regarding breast feeding with a fellow student. As med students we both obviously understand the enormous advantage (both in terms of health and economically) of breast feeding. For the record I really don't have a problem with women breast feeding in public. Great article by the way Texas Wahine! My fellow student was discussing how she really feels breast feeding should stop by age one at the very
Hah, thanks Frogboy. Certainly didn't expect to stop by Wincustomize and see this. Glad you enjoyed reading it.
sacrat - I checked out those visual glitches and can see we were talking about entirely different things, so obviously my comment regarding the video drivers is useless. My glitches were more along the lines of odd stripes and bands of color that would appear on certain buttons with certain skins. Different things.
IsabellaD-Thanks for the compliments. I would love to use paint (or Paint Shop Pro which I have) to make my own art. One of these days Med school will slow down enough that I can figure out how to make my own stuff. I have played around with LogonXP a bit. I will look into the others. msetzer-I have tried TLB and think it looks great, but what I really want is to get rid of the "bar" across my computer all together. When I am done passing
Visual glitches in numerous programs make WB nearly useless. Likely the fault of your video drivers IMO. I was having lots of little weird video glitches when running the Omega Drivers built off the catalyst 4.4s. As soon as I upgraded, poof, they disappeared. Not a single graphical glitch to be foun
We operate on pigs pretty regularly, and next year with the research I will be doing we will be operating on them even more. And the experience is invaluable. Pigs are really quite similar to humans anatomically. Position of organs in the chest and abdomen are very similar to humans, as is the appearance of those structures. While it isn't exaclty the same, the amount one can learn from operating on these live pigs is enormous. While it ce
Hah, c242, I just wish Objectmedia wouldn't crash on me ever other song. That would be more than enough to make me happy. Seriously though I would really like to see more media player objects. There just seems to not be nearly as many of those as calendars and weather items. I would also love to have something similar to Expose (as has been mentioned). Trillian or Gaim type objects that connect to multiple IM clients and can be part of the theme or embed in the desktop. T
Great work! I hear bits of Cygnus X-1, Xanadu, 2112, and even Jacob's Ladder. Yeah, I'ma Rush geek too. I only find it sad you keep referring to your status as a Rush fan in the past! Keep the fandom alive man!
Joel, do have the most recent version of Desktop X? I downloaded and tried to use the excellent "Airlock" them a month or so ago and had the same trouble. I would load the theme, the Airlock wall would load then disappear back to the one I was already using. I then made sure I was running the most recent version of Desktop X, deleted the theme and then redownloaded it. Once I did that the appropriate wall remained every time I load a theme that has an associated wall, even ones I have made m
NP. Glad you got it working.
Have you downloaded a theme? Just download a theme, extract it to the "Themes" folder in the ObjectDock folder and you should be able to it. I just downloaded one and then tried and it worked just fine.
I was the same way. I installed and uninstalled Object Dock more times than I can count. But finally it is useful to me. Of course I can understand completely why Object Dock Plus couldn't be the freeware version as it just has such an insane amount of stuff in it, including time, that it would not make sense to give it away. Loving it.

Thanks BlueDev. This post wasn't fishing for compliments, but thanks anyhow I know you weren't Martin. Just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks anyway.
Martin, in my short time using Desktop X I have downloaded and used many of your objects and/or widgets. They are all great quality and very usable. I don't know enough yet to make suggestions, but just wanted to say thanks for your work. More and more quality objects are popping up and it is really helping to make Desktop X more funcitonal. (and this from someone who didn't think he would ever use it!) Thanks again for your work!
From my personal experience I have found that many, many "buggy" programs are really the result of poor computer maintenance. I am by no means saying there are not bad and terribly bug riddled programs out there. But when I hear few people ranting about the "instabilities" of a program while there are many of us using it without a single hitch I can't help but think perhaps the problem lies in the user and not the program. I don't know a ton
sacrat-Thanks for the info.
BTW, we're not going to judge graphic application's resource usage, relying on Windows Taskman, right? It actually shows almost nothing useful. Then educate me please. I understand that it certainly doesn't tell me all that it is doing, but surely knowing how much memory and CPU usage a program is acce
Ah yes, Beatallica. Stumbled across their stuff a few months ago and was blown away by the dude on vox. Very, very good Hetfield clone. I found the music entertaining, but not something I would listen to often. Still, worth checking out. Oh, and as a fellow metalhead I would love to read that blog on Metallica selling out.
Interesting article. Aston looks cool, though I am really happy with the way Windowblinds+Desktop X+Object Dock Plus make my desktop look and work. Very, very cool. Anyway, I just have to chime in on the idea of Windowblinds hogging resources. Let me state the facts as they are on my computer. The process wbload.exe is using 0% of CPU (and only uses CPU power when in that instant I change themes), 640 K of memory and 39 handles. Looks pre
Hmm, an even 20 points. Almost addicted, but not quite.
I had an anonymous user who was skulking around my "Song of the Day" posts (which I plan on reviving BTW). I had absolutely no qualms simply deleting the comments post-haste. If you don't have the balls to sign in you don't have the right to comment I usually feel. I have had some AU posts that were decent and on topic. I will leave them. But idiotic posts from AUs are just trash.
Emailed you dharma. I will let that speak for itself. Peter
Sorry I don't have any other ideas for you. Haven't had the problem since I posted my solution.
