I actually thought about that this weekend, but although I really hated the free OD when I first downloaded it, I've sort of become quite fond of the little bugger. Have you checked resource usage though? I haven't tried it, but perhaps just using OD+ with an additional zoomer dock would use less resources? Just a thought. And if it was a matt

You know, I was actually thinking about this the other day. Adding sounds and sound themes to the site originally sounded like a cool idea. The more I thought about it though, the more ambivalent I felt. Still not sure it would work, but hey, you aren't the only one who has thought it!

And inspiring article Jill. And an important point as well. Far too often I believe we lose sight of what really makes us happy and set our sights on unimportant, temporary gratification. Of course, the things that last, the things that really matter, always take the most effort. How motivated are we to seek those things out? That will all depend on how important being truly happy is. I know I have, at times, lost sight of my end goals, l

You bring up some important points Muggaz, even though I think you are off on some others. Generalizations based on what we hear from the media can often misrepresent the truth. And when we make similar generalizations ourselves we fall into the very same trap. Lets hope we can all rise above that.

You know, I purchased Diablo years ago. Played to about the 14th level with a knight, and had to stop because all he could do was melee. Tried later with a Rogue, but then reformated and never finished. So why oh why did I buy Diablo II? I don't really know, but I saw it on sale and just had to buy it. One of these days I will finish the first so I can move onto the second.

Glad to see you checking in Dharma. Yeah, the humidity is the killer. Utah gets hot during the summer, especially souther Utah (up to the 120 range) but it isn't nearly as tough as the 95 degree days here in NC with the humidity. Keep hanging in there!

Exactly. As a parent, it's hard for me to try to teach my children to be good sports when there are such crappy examples on the public stage. Ah, if that was the only type of bad examples seen daily on the public stage! How easy would that make parenting? Seriously though, only a serious and

Alison, don't forget to take the time to enjoy every step along the way. Enjoy the engagement, but don't forget the fun you had while you were courting (am I completely stupid for using that word? I mean, folks still use it, right?). And once the marraige arrives don't forget the fun you had while engaged. Every step builds upon the one that went before, and a solid relationship while engaged will give you that much more of a step ahead when the ti

Hah, I thoroughly enjoyed reading that one. The sad thing is I just don't see how one can come away with a medal won more out of whining than out of the competition and not feel that it is tainted in some way, that it is cheapened. Hence, making whining an official sport, even including it in both summer and winter Olympics, seems to make perfect sense. Not only can they whine, but they can do it with all their hearts and walk away proud of

Thanks for the heads up KarmaGirl. I too have had a short stint as an moderator at a forum and just basically had to stop doing it. It was too hard to separate my regular forum posts from my moderator posts. Very difficult and frustrating. I think having two identities will make it much easier. Oh, and about those emails. . .

I had noticed a few blogs stating folks were leaving because they didn't have sufficient readership. I can understand their frustration. When you put a lot of thought or effort into writing a solid, decent blog it can be disheartening to not get a single response. I know! But you really have to examine not only your motivations for blogging but your amount of input into the community as a whole. I know that is where I haven't been as activ

Untitled I have decided that I really like showing off my desktop. And I have also decided that this blog is a good place to show it off. Even if no one cares, because, well, I can. I also continue to think that showing the common user what can

We are all consumers. And we have an amazing amount of power. The truth of the matter is there are a lot of lousy companies out there. Some of them we just can't really avoid I suppose. Sometimes it becomes a choice of a lesser of two evils. But often there are also really good companies. You know, those companies who really seem to appreciate their cust

I am intrigued with The Political Machine. I will certainly be keeping my eye on this one, but I am going to wait for a demo. I have become jaded enough as a gamer that I refuse to buy a game without playing a demo first. Looking forward to the release of the demo to get an idea of how the game plays. Looks good though.

And just a little note for Stardock : lots of compagnies are paying to get beta testors. Hmm, I don't know about lots. As far as games go, they usually have people frantically filling out applications in the scant hope to be a beta tester. And even if they do test the game they still have to buy it when it comes out. Lots of software is the sa

csurfside-I live in Durham, NC, and have found that pretty much everyone around me is baffled by the whole skinning idea. Sort of a shame as once they see my desktop they realize what they are missing, but their loss, not ours.
