On the subject of deleting comments: I have done it twice. Both times they were comments by an anonymous user who was replying to some of my music threads by simply posting the words to "The ballad of Lyndie England". They served absolutely no purpose, and were being spammed elsewhere, so I did delete those. I also offered to delete some of my own comments at one point when I got out of hand. For the most part though, I just like

No problem Gideon. It was a mild lash, more of a spurious assumption really. But I think the air is cleared, so no problems over here.

a writer sometimes cannot help but author a blog based on "current events" because it's what's in their mind, and a reader cannot help but call to mind current events which are somehow related, however minimally, to the topic of a thread's vague generalizations. Very true Gideon. And I was wrong to las

Sorry, I'm not quite anal retentive enough to go back through your articles and start calculating. Hah, I am though. So I did, and I can see some assumptions I have made, some of which I would now disagree with myself. But I haven't even really written enough articles that werent about OS customizatio

We are all above that Bluedev - we are above entitling articles like that - when you write article defaming the religion, thats where the hate comes from... not from me. Um, just so someone doesn't read that last line and think I wrote the article, I didn't. Heh, just wanted that to be clear. I know y

Actually you are the one assuming, something I've noticed a lot of in your articles. Really? I would love to see those assumptions. Because to be quite truthful, I generally try to avoid making spurious assumptions, and if I am doing it without even knowin

If I entitled an article "Americans are filthy ignorant rapist murdering pigs" could you not see why an American would want to kill me? Muggaz, I don't think any of the more stable of us American's would ever have such violent thoughts as to kill you for writing something. Believe it or not, most of us

And I agree completely with you Gene. But that isn't what this article was about. Those who genuinely are attempting to write satire we can either "get" or we can admit that we don't care for their brand of humor and stay away. There are plenty of stand up comedians whose brand of humor I don't care for. So I stay away from them. It is that simple. But I think you are mistakenly assuming I am directing this article at a certain pe

Sometimes the break, whether voluntary or not, can really be refreshing. It can provide a lot of much needed perspective. If school is going to force you to take a break, make the most of it. Best of luck!

Are my wife and I crazy? Of course we are. But are we certifiable? Some might think so. But we don't. Nope, we think we are pretty level-headed and sensible folks. Even though we decided it was time to have another little one. We thought about it a lot, and prayed about it even more. And we both felt that it was time to add to the Jones family. My thi

We see it happen every day. Someone opens their mouth or sets their fingers to the keys without fully engaging their gray matter. Or perhaps that is just he way they operate, vomiting forth whatever will come. Of course the aftermath usually is more than they were anticipating, but that is most likely because they left out that crucial initial step. You

I would suggest that you talk to her about how nothing lives forever, and that is OK because the world would get too full if nothing died. Thanks for the suggestion. That is pretty much just what we have been doing, and I really think she gets it. I do think it has helped her quite a bit.

She has been really upset over her favorite fish dying in the past. Our five year old's fish has been looking sickly lately. We have been doing everything we can to perk him up, but not much is working. He is getting a bit old, so we have been preparing her for the end, with the hopes that when it doe

I think the overlay feature is really going to make Desktop X and widgets and objects not only more popular but more usable. As I mentioned in my most recent article on my desktop customization, the overlay feature is what I am using to keep my desktop clean, but still have access to the great objects I want there. It is just another level of user control, and one that I find to be quite welcome.

Then purchase a subscription. It is a great way to help out. Afterall, $19.95 for the tray that keeps you up to date, the WC browser, two premium suites, and unlimited downloads for 2 years is the steal of the century. Or, if you really don't like that idea purchase Windowblinds, or better yet Object Desktop. Seriously, these are great ways to help out, get some great programs, and know that you are supporting good business practices. I can't skin (except for things like Logons), so

I started the day off bright and early with a customer from WinCustomize sending me 17 email over the weekend because I was ignoring the one from 1:34am on Sunday. Oh, oh, can I send you emails? Mine would be nice Karma, and only a little creepy! <img src="../images/smiles/jokegrim.gif" border=0 ALIG

Hah, yep, done that one as well. Sometimes it frightens me just how much like my father I have become. But I turned out okay, so I suppose it will work for my kids as well.

Thanks Dusk411. There are a lot more experiences from medical school I should write about, and probably will now that I have a bit more time. It was actually tough to write about it when I was smack dab in the middle of it. Some distance from my rotations will help me have a little better perspective.

I am not sure of Desktop X alone, though I am sure if you purchased it at this point you would get version 2.2. But seriously, go for the Object Desktop subscription. For only $30 (US) more you get a ton of programs (including Windowblinds which is amazing, Icon Packager which is equally as impressive, and a ton of programs to increase your productivitiy like Keyboard Launchpad) in addition to Desktop X. And you get all updates for the next 365 days. That is simply an amazing deal if

Years ago, when I first started contemplating going to medical school, I had a fear. And that fear has successfully been overcome. I was afraid of the first year of clinical work. Yep, downright afraid. And as I finished up my first year (all bookwork and basic science stuff here at Duke) and second year approached (the first year of clinical wor
