Nice idea C C, but nope, that isn't what I was looking for. This only occured since I updated to the most recent version of Desktop X (2.19n[b].003). I have Icon X on my system (0.99[b].003). I have uninstalled both applications, cleared out their folders, restarted my computer, reinstalled, restarted again, then ran them and have the same problems. Icon X makes my icons look great and fancy, just like I have come to love. Desktop X makes them look ugly. Well, okay, it doesn't do anything

Just did some more tinkering around to get a better idea what is going on. If I use Desktop X the icons are all screwed up. But if I unload Desktop X and instead load Icon X everything is normal and how I am used to. Oh, and working. So it appears that there is some disconnect in the Icon X that Desktop X is using and regular Icon X. Hope that helps a little.

Hay all, just thought I would mention this. Since I updated to the most recent version of Desktop X tonight, once I started it up my Icon X settings were all gone. The icon stayed small, the text was thin and black and didn't seem to respond to the "Clear Type" setting, and I there were no "Themes" as there were with older versions. No normal, no bold and bright, none of those options. Any ideas?

I could throw a bunch of other great tunes out there such as "!" by Pain of Salvation, "Metropolis Pt. I" by Dream Theater, "Summerland" by King's X, "Divine Wings of Tragedy" by Symphony X, "Another Dimension" by LTE, and on and on and on. But I don't know if they would quite count up in the top.

My laptop has an ATI Mobilit Radeon 7500 chip in it (64 megs RAM) that, while now two years old, did come out of the box natively supporting from 640x480 up to 1600x1200 resolution. I immediately went for the highest one and never turned back. Everything just looks so much better at that resolution. I of course stopped using the official drivers from the company as they never update the mobility drivers. I instead use the Omega versions of the Cata

Without a doubt my favorite song of all time is "Natural Science" by Rush. Brilliant lyrically, and just as brilliant musically, a ten minute epic that blows me away every time I listen to it. Second place is a tough one to fill. There are a couple songs that could fit that spot. It is a close tie between "Something from Nothing" by Fates Warning or "Blackwater Park" by Opeth. "Something from Nothing" is pure genius, slowly building, never afraid

Sorry, I am still not too sure what you are talking about, but will try to clarify. "Adventures in OS customization" is the title of the article I wrote. No place to download that, but just read it here. As far as the theme I am using in the final build of my desktop (which, by the way, has changed) there is a link to it in the article. It is titled Killer, and the link to the wallpaper is there as well. As far as the Desktop X setup, I built that

Hey all, I have been lately getting the following error dialog popping up: There has been a script error in object "XML weatherbg". To correct the error, click "Disable and Edit" below. Type mismatch: '[string: "-"]' Line: 180 Code: (not available) Any help about what this means or what direction to head in would be great. Obviously I opened the script and looked at line 180, but it doesn't mean anything to me. Thanks.

As far as fictional blogs, well, I think there could certainly be fun and interesting ones. Unfortunately I haven't seen any of those here. One we have seen was an incredibly manipulative and truly hurtful. That one gets a big bad. The other well known one was somewhat inventive and humorous at first, but since has become an amoral, generally spite filled, and very poorly written collection of rubbish. That one gets another bad. But in th

Glad my explanation was clear guys. I certainly hope that it can help your friend in some way as well. Again, let me know if you need some more info.

I will do that sacrat. I am actually using the 15.1" monitor on my laptop. Everything looks much more sharp and I never have to maximize anything. I love it, though my wife thinks it is a bit small."

Your favorite 1600x1200 (am I correct?) should work on any properly designed theme theme, supporting 1024x768. I understand that they are recommended, as I also understand that 1600x1200 is a bit extreme (at least my wife frequently tells me it is!). Anyway, yeah, that is the resolution I run, and preh

Hmm, I suppose I can see the desire to keep certain people from reading and possibly identifying with what you write. I suppose I just don't write stuff that personal, personal enough that I wouldn't want others to read it, even if they did know me. But then again I suppose I have been known to keep things bottled up inside. If there really are things you don't want others to read you can always just make that particular post private. Just a though

If they are anesthetized, like BlueDev said, I am fine with it. To be quite honest I was really impressed with the way the animals were treated. They were treated very humanely and with respect the entire time. I think it is important. Afterall, our occupation should show everyone the highest form of

pah..n00b? how could you use that term on yourself? Use "newb". I'm a blog newb, like you. (yes there is a difference, double zeros...think about it. *G* ) Hah, I actually use the spelling n00b to show my contempt for the whole idea. Just like 1337 speak, abusing new comers is silly and pointless.</fo

In general a support for 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 800x600 is enough. Ah, good to know that. I will be avoiding Aston then since that certainly is not enough for me.

Well, the short of it is that a low carb diet will certainly cause you to lose weight. Yep, it works. And the biochemistry behind it makes sense. Less carbs=less glucose in the blood. Less glucose in the blood=less insulin in the blood. And since insulin stimulates you to store fat, well, you can see how less of it would be a good thing for losing weight. Also less insulin=more glucagon, which is basically the counter to insulin. Whereas insulin

BlueDev, I can't resist--is it all humans, or just Americans, that pigs are similar to? ! Trust me, no one gets away from that comparison. It is all of us. Perhaps the males of us a little more so though!

I have seen it from both sides, being abused as a newbie and having the hankering to abuse. When you have been around a site for a while, have made significant contributions to the site, the feeling of having some sort of supremeacy is easy. Of course that doesn't mean it is right. Comments should be taken on their own merits. I believe that attacking a poster because they are a n00b is really just a type of ad hominem, and obviously show

At the very least I hope someone has set up some sort of bot for this type of harassment. The fact that someone would actually go the manual effort to create these types of articles is beyond my comprehension. Someone actually thinking they may work is even farther out there. Get a rope!

Gideon, I understand completely where you are coming from. I reflected on the very fact that many of my blogs either go unnoticed or get very few comments a while ago. To be quite frank I found that I was having a hard time with that for a while. I had to take a step back and think about who I was really writing for. And to be entirely honest, there truly are times I am writing hoping for comments. I suppose if I really and sincerely just wanted t
