I have read many political discussions on the internet and have yet to see one that remained civil and tackled the issues rather than the emotion behind them. Rather than understanding I only see them ending in even more divisions. And so I stay far, far away.

Hah, thanks for reading an commenting Phoenixboi. I just don't understand the motivation behind any of his actions or those of his "acolytes".
At first I found him slightly humorous, though mostly irritating. It took about 2 or 3 articles of his for me to decide he was a very sad case. The vindictive posts, the offensive lies, and the pure idiocy is now beyond tiresome. I would just like to know why people "support" such a lecherous character. The desire to kiss his butt is just beyond me.
Heh, I actually wrote an article about what I have begun to call "The Lie" recently. I don't think anyone read it but. . . The perpetrator has demonstrated so many inconsistencies that it is just laughable now.
Thanks so much for the nice comments Aria and Chris. I look forward to finding out more about you folks as well.
Essencay - Yes, it is a separate program. There have been lots of angry posts about that around the net, so I won't go into it here. But I can say I happily paid the $15.00 for it (yes, you do get an ODNT discount, a nice one at that $5.00) and am having a blast with it. I don't use it all the time, but am toying around with it, customizing it as I want. I will probably have figured out what I want to do with it by the time the first official relea
Well, I go by BlueDev here, but my real name is Peter. Have been here for a few months now, but am one of the less prolific bloggers. I wrote a rather long article about myself over on my blog which you are welcome to read it here: Link I am a 28 year old medical student just about to finish my first clerkship year. Have a wonderful family and am enjoying life. Glad to
I look forward to the results of this expose. Will be following to see the results.
Well put 4D, and I agree completely. I have not problem with my classmates who receive such scholarships. I am glad there are means and funds there for some of the students. What I have a problem with is a system that ensures that there exist more funds and greater access to said funds for one race than for another. It is still a glaring inequality.
Wow, what a cutie. He is in our thoughts. Peter
Oh, and the simple fact that you keep using the number 50 (implying that I am part of the majority) simply demonstrates just how vacuous your comments are. As a white male I am most definitely not in the majority in my school, nor in my community.
I have no problem with them. They are all great friends. It is the system that is not working. Or are you not capable of addressing the issues raised by the author?
I will gladly add my prayers to those being offered in their behalf. May the collective faith of those here and elsewhere who are keeping you in mind buoy you up and carry you through this trial. Peter
We all hunger for acceptance. On a certain level we all need to feel that we are part of something larger than ourselves. It may be a religious group, a political party, a school organization, a group of good friends, a family, a fan club. Or, as we have seen here at JU, it may even be just being part of a lie. And that shocks and appalls me. <
A real case hmmmm? And what kind of real case would make you happy if not the real situations cited in the initial post? Let me offer up a few of my own. What about the fact that a student I go to school with, whose family is one of the most affluent of all in our class, is getting a full ride through medical school because of the color of her skin? Nope, not merit based, and obviously not need based. But based on the fact that her skin is
Great article Brad. I love to hear what is in the pipeline for this great suite of products. Looking forward to the future.
Thanks for the reply. I actually think I figured it out. For those who may run into the same problem here was my solution. I remembered reading things about Desktop X and Icon X and the .NET Framework. I also realized I had never downloaded and installed that since it was an optional update. I installed it and viola, Icon X uses 0-1%.
I posted this over in the newsgroups for Desktop X as well, but thought I would toss it out here too. Every time I load Icon X, or Desktop X with icons on the screen, I am getting a huge CPU hit. Icon X (or Desktop X) jump up to usually greater than 90% CPU usage. Desktop X runs nice and low as long as there are no icons on the screen, or if I disable Icon X in the config menu. I have toyed around with the settings and it pretty much stays there, no matter what I do. Any ideas?
Great list CS Guy. An interesting read that provides a little more insight. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. I sort of suspected that this was what the original article was about, but the only article I could find was trina p's very heartfelt post, and I felt sure that one was sincere. Must have missed the others. That is really sick. Having been through the pain of losing a child (and our loss was very early in the pregnancy - so I can only imagine in a small part the pain of losing one after birth) playing on people's emotions and sincere s
Looking forward to ObjectBar 2. I love the idea of it right now, but it just isn't quite doing it for me yet. Sounds good. Also loving Object Dock + and am enjoying the whole process of providing feedback and ideas for it. Finally, Brad, it is just mean to have that little graphics window that says GalCiv2_. . .up there in the corner of that screenshot. Makes me drool and feel sort of funny inside. Thanks for the article.
You know, in the field I am going into (medicine) I don't think this would be appropriate. How do you think those celebrities would feel if their doctor, during their appointments when they have a very captive audience, pushed their political agenda on them? As a patient I would find that beyond inappropriate. And I think they wouldn't appreciate being lambasted that way either. So why do they think it is okay to do it to us in a similar se
Oops, sorry, the link to the topic here: Link
Okay Brad, I have a quick question for you that you are welcome to tell me is none of my business. About how many folks have (ever or currently, whichever) subscribed to Drengin.net or purchased the network edition of Object Desktop? The reason I ask is as follows. I frequently post on the forums over at The Adrenaline Vault and I actually posted a forum topic on this article because frankly I think the idea is brilliant. We are also often
I'm glad to hear that...does it come in handy when you're dealing with patients? It can be extremely helpful. Especially when I was on psych dealing with drug addicts and such. But even in the regular office visits it is amazing the amount of BS that some patients will try to pass off as truth
