I normally believe I have a pretty decent BS-ometer. It has helped me ferret out the truth on more than one occassion. Unfortunately I have no clue what is being discussed here. And it makes me feel petty to admit that I want to know. Interesting that even when we don't know what the something wrong is, but simply know it exists, we crave to know more. So while I would say e-mail me about the results of the BS-ometer, since I don't really

Trust me. Object Desktop contains more than enough to make it well worth $50 for an entire year. I don't think it was every meant to be "everything under the sun that Stardock has made or ever will make". It is a suite of programs that allow you to customize your desktop and enhance the functionality of your computer. I recently subscribed and couldn't be more pleased with everything included. Heck, they are even kind enough to give you unlimited downloads here which is worth tons i
Grrr. Now if they would just do that for the Duke grad students. . . Yeah right.
Dharma, I don't have anything new to add. But from what I know of you and Dave your love for each other is far stronger than any of these doubts. My wife and I haven't been through what you are going through, so I can't pretend to really understand it. But in our six years of marriage (just had our sixth anniversary on Saturday) we have both had doubts. And every time we have doubts we both think back to the time we decided that it would be the rig
Yeah, that is one of the things I have been most impressed with since I purchased my ODNT subscription. Not only are things being updated a lot, but they are also very community driven. That is to say the community has a lot of input into these programs. Great to see that.
I still find it weird when I read stuff about "them" at "Stardock" on here KarmaGirl-I am sure it is weird. And, to be honest, knowing this is a Stardock site (sort of, you know what I mean, right?) it is at times odd to write about Stardock stuff as if it were and entirely different entity. T
MadIce-Wow, that is very good of you. Above and beyond the call of duty. Just in case it might help some I am pasting the error I get when Object Media tanks on me. DMO failure: Unhandled exception during DoAddFilters()
I actually didn't use OD very much. It was just not functional enough for me. I had it, had tons of icons, and toyed around with it a lot, but never used it on a regular basis. OD+, however, has more than enough functionality for it to be worth it for me. I am still not using it often because I am toying around with the configuration and what I can do with it. But it is fun.
The overlay feature allows me to have all my widgets/objects pop up or disappear by hitting a hot key (like F9). Okay Brad, that is it right there. If I hadn't already bought Object Desktop that would do it. There are so many cool little objects but I don't use them because I don't like cluttering u
You know, after playing with it for a day or so I can see why there was the demand for it now. Fun, fun little program.
I absolutely love ObjectMedia. It is great. It would be my default media player if it wasn't for one little thing. It freaks out on my all the time. Seriously. I load a folder or a playlist and it plays a song or two then gives me some wired error and shuts down. Sure I can restart it, but it is really getting annoying. And 14 days since my email to Stardock about it still no reply.
Disclaimer Sure, this could possibly go in the Personal Computing category, or even OS customization, but since the crux of the article doesn't focus on either of those I am tossing in the dirty bin also known as Misc. End Disclaimer Yes, the title is correct. Last night I forked over $15 for a piece of software that is still in the bet
But if he were just looking for another LDS then my first response should have indicated to him that he had failed. At that point (as I tried to mention earlier, just not sure if it was clear or not) I agree with you. That would have been where I replied with a "lol" and left it at that. </fon
Hah, Poetmom99, thanks. I think I "get it" because I have done similar things in the past. I hear or read something someone says that triggers a switch in my mind along the lines of "Hmm, that was a sort of 'Mormon' thing to say/do. I wonder. . ." and then you ask. Afterall, the worst they are going to do is get pissed off at you for asking, and I am fine with that.
Absolutely. "Gideon" is the name of a figure in The Book of Mormon, and we "Mormons" have a really weird habit of naming our children with those types of names. I know lots of folks with names like Nephi, Moroni, Helaman, etc. Heck, I have even heard of someone named Mahonri. Is the name Gideon exclusive to The Book of Mormon? Of course not. But someone raised around that kind of atmosphere (as I was) sees a name familiar from The Book of
Hmm, well as an active member of the LDS Church I think that fellow was out of line trying to initiate religious discussion in a game. I don't think his initial question was out of line though. It can be fun to find other members of the Church in that sort of arena and I think it probably started out as a simple "Hey, we might have something in common" question.
Well, I have to admit, as a recent purchaser of Object Desktop I think that $50 is really a steal for all you get. I can see and understand the folks who want OD+ to be part of Object Desktop, but it just isn't reasonable to expect there to be yet another program in there. I haven't purchased OD+ yet because I still don't really us the vanilla version, but am seriously considering it. The customer support from Stardock alone makes it worth the purchase. It is no different than those
I just don't get why certain people feel the need to go for the hiearchy and make sure people are put in their place. It defeats the purpose of learning. I agree completely. I undertood very well what my place was. It wasn't as if this was our first rotation. What was most frustrating was coming off
Okay, I will now hang my head in shame. That did the trick goodmorphing. Thanks so much. I am guessing this is one of the things that is disabled in the shareware version. Man, these Stardock programs do so much I am learning something new every day. Thanks again!
Thanks for the idea. However when I click on the background tabs the override button is already unchecked. I checked it, applied, then unchecked it just to be sure and it ends up the same.
After using the shareware version of WB for a while I recently purchased Object Desktop. I am using WB version 4.38b[a].002. I recently reformatted my computer and then did a clean install of OD. Since then I have noticed this really odd background texture that is gray and looks like sort of bubbles. It is apparent only when using WB, not with XP themes or classic Windows ones. It is also there no matter what skin I am using. It is really starting to bug me and I would love some help in fi
The first day on the Gynecologic Oncology service was thoroughly depressing. As medical students we were instantly put in our place at the bottom of the rank and file, stripped of any real responsibility, and relegated to running and doing inane tasks for the intern and residents. We were informed our notes were not “valid”, told that we should not sign them if we r
Just found this one, so here is a photo. Since most of the photos we take are of our kids I honestly don't know of one with just me, at least not recently. So here is the family. Link
Dharma!!!! I was actually out of the loop since last Sunday (wrote a quick blog about my week at camp). So when I came back on Saturday and didn't see anything from you recently (sad how 2 or 3 days seems like a long time eh?) I was worried. Glad to know it was just computer stuff. Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Thanks for the info Brad. From my little bit of tinkering around I think it has a lot of potential, but I am still trying to figure out how best to make it work for me. Just haven't had much time to spend with it. As for Keyboard LaunchPad, thanks for the reminder it is there!
