After using the demo version of WIndowblinds for far too long (hey at least I admit it) I purchased Object Desktop a couple weeks ago. Considering all you get for $50 with all the updates for a year I think it is well worth the money. Now I am just trying to figure out how to make Desktop X useful for me (I am really big on minimalistic desktops). Oh, and I am hoping for more widgets! They are the greatest.

I am currently on my Pediatrics rotation and just got home from a grueling, exhausting, and inspiring week. I had the opportunity to spend a week of my rotation serving as a counselor at Camp Kaleidoscope. (Check the provided link for more info) Briefly, it is a camp that Duke offers for chronically ill children who would not be deemed healthy enough to att
Dharma, all I can say is if you do decide to quit let me know please so I can start bothering you with email! I understand completely where you are coming from. I went through a phase where I was writing a lot and interacting a lot here. I felt a sense of community. And I wanted to be part of that community. Time has passed though, posts have become argumentative and bitter. Folks have formed factions (as will always happen) and many are
Dharma, you know we love ya! You are great to have around and have made many people here, myself included, feel welcome. Just want to thank you for that. You rock.
Dharma, so happy to hear you got the news! And Illinois sounds like a great option for the family. Hope all goes smooth for you. Great news again!

First off, thanks for your comments! I appreciate them and it is reassuring to know others get what I am saying. I will just comment to folks in one mass post so as not to appear a post-whore. Dharma-Thanks for your comments. I read the article you linked to (as you know because I commented) and actually think it served more of a clarification rather than really falling into temptation. Nevertheless, one of my principle motivations to writ
Dharma, I simply must agree with you here. I have had opportunities to work with severly mentally ill people (at the state mental hospital). I have seen depression, mania, and psychosis at their very worst. I really do know how debilitating those diseases can be and have witnessed the burden they are on the affected individual and those around them. Make no mistake, I too am not ignorant to the plight of the mentally ill. But I have also s
We have all seen it. People who walk around either so full of themselves or so insecure in themselves that they ever have a chip on their shoulder. Quick to offend and even more swift to take offense, they look for the insult in each and every action. And if your opinion differs from theirs, well, take cover, because they will come out with their sleeves up, ready
I swear I had seen something like this before. Anyway, great article and awesome to see. I haven't used any of the regular XP themes for almost a year now I am so addicted to Windowblinds. And to see that it doesn't have any detrimental effect on my gaming, well, that much better.
Have you ever tried riding in the car? You don't want to over do it, but there were a couple occassions with our first when that was all that worked. We put her in her car seat and then went for a drive up the canyon. Not too fast, but not stop and start, just a nice late night drive. It would help her calm down and then she was able to fall asleep. I also used to gently bounce her in my arms. I would put one hand under her neck and the o
Congratulations to Lonesome! That is great news and very exciting for you and your family!
dharma-great saying! Thanks for sharing that. I really believe that those who become what we would call "evil" got there gradually enough that they didn't even notice it. Just like the pot filling with drops, or the full glass left to evaporate, it happens so gradually we only notice when the change is drastic. And yet we still let that velvet leash be wrapped around our throats because it certainly couldn't happen to us. Right? greywar-h
Sorry dharma, nothing specific. I am guessing it has something to do with the AF, but other than that you got me. But I will be looking forward to hearing what the secret is once it is revealed!
It seems that everywhere I look these days I see it. It raises it hideous head in whatever situation I seem to find myself in some way. Like the hydra of old, it attacks from multiple angles, its vicious maws coming at us from every side. And our best efforts to combat it seem just as fruitless, two heads springing up where there once was only one. It truly is a m
My high school physics teacher told me I looked like Boris Becker (the tennis player for those who read that and say "What?"), but other than the reddish hair I never really saw it. But apparently I look a lot like someone, because an amazing number of people mistake me for someone they know. It happens quite often actually. Sort of weird.
Dharma, I honestly don't know what to say. Like kingbee I am entirely speechless. That people would even think to say something so horrible about you blows my mind. But that they would then actually start saying it??? I am dumbfounded. I agree with you and those who have posted. No restraint. Go for the jugular. With truth on your side you will prevail. Know that (and I am sure you already to) there are many, many of us here wh

Happy Birthday Dharma! I know that as you grow, have a family and find other reasons to turn outside yourself birthdays become less and less of an issue (at least for me, apparently not for my 25 year old med school colleague who couldn't stop whining about having to spend the entire day at the hospital on her birthday! *gasp*). Nevertheless, I hope it is a good one and special in some little way at least. I look forward to reading and heari
Well Dusk, I have already told you I enjoy your reviews. I enoy reading them because of what they are, honest commentaries from a music fan. Not pompous, analyses of the form or some such. Because, well, I don't want to read that. As far as this song, for some reason I dig it. I don't seek it out to listen to it, but I enjoy it enough that if I hear it on the radio I will stop and listen.
Oops, double post.
Sorry about my off-topic comments Mason. Please feel free to delete them as my intention was never to detract from the thread, but I ended up doing so anyway. My most sincere apologies.
Your right, I was wrong to do that an am really sorry to MasonM for bringing that up. It certainly wasn't my inention, and thus have not gone back there since. Sorry again about that, and it won't happen again. Please feel free to delete my responses Mason.
Sorry Muggaz, whereas imajinit left it as an open idea you stated it as a forgone conclusion that he had no other choice but to rely on himself and no higher power. Self-reliance is important, but blatantly declaring that it is his only option, with no other recourse certainly sounds like you are applying or establishing your belief system as absolute. By not leaving it open as an option (read your post again, you clearly did not imply anything, you
Without turning this into a theological argument - The only person who can help Mason is himself at this point in time... Again, without turning this into a theological debate, the above statement is only true for those who choose to not look beyond themselves. I find the arrogance of imposing
