Well, I want just to add an important thing to me: I want a game that is fun to play, even after having played 20 games or when the game is very advanced in the number of turns. One thing that was very annoying for me in MOO2 was when you have a battle between one hundred ships and you have to move all of them since you won't rely on the AI to conduct the battle for you. It was tedious, long, not fun but you have to do it. I feel that the game should be fun when you discover it and afte
is it possible to exchange a bugged french version ( the local french patch doesn't fix everything ) with a normal english version ?
If you register you Galciv Serial Id with Stardock central, you will be able to download the whole game. Not sure if you internet connection allow such download. The link posted correspond to the complete patch from 1.0 to 1.20. If you decide to patch with Stardock Central, only few files will be download, that can result i
Yep - correct. I hadn't submitted. I was playing on an offline when I won. I think my score was something like 5200. No idea if that is good or bad. Just happy to have won.
You could always save before the end (there is an automatic endgame save) and load the game when you are online. Some (like Lothmorg) have done this when they go on holidays. for few days, there isn't any submission, and suddenly, lots of games are submitted in the same day
but where can i get or find galcivwriter

For the writer you can either go to the mods forum
Hope this is clearer. There 4 forums related to Galciv on this site: the Galactic Forum (the one in which we are), the strategic forum, the mod forum and the empire forum.

Mods that are stardock certified are safe. One thing to worry is if empire bonus for planet quality exceed 40%. If you should always watch the end screen where you metaverse score appears (it appears also if you retire). If you have a metaverse score of 0, then it is an anomalous game. You can submit it to the metaverse but you will awarded 0 points, and it can be annoying for your ranking since an averaging effect take place.
How about the Drengin deciding to convert to preaching good and kindness, or losing control of their senate... 5 years after you wiped them out.

Why shouldn't the Drengin start preaching goodness and kindness. The slaves just had a revolution.
I guess the point was about receiving a message on a civ that no longer exists.

One thing that can help you: divide and conquer. If you manage to put the AIs at war between them, they probably won't go after you. About starbase: don't rely on starbase to keep the AI busy. But instead, use it to suppport your navy (which is less costly to build than a constructor): a simple starfighter in a sector where there are starbases that increase attack rating of friendly ships can be dangerous.

Since I don't play with evil morality, I don't know. But it sounds really evil to complains about the game not being fair with you, since your evil morality come from huge bonuses LOL Joke aside, I understand that it is really annoying to have an event whose effect is game over. But when it happens to the AI, it another thing: one major AI has left :) BTW, If you want tech victory, you should try with more planets (bigger map and/or abundant setting), since you will need lots

I know one thing that is linked to 2190 and can explain the x2 factor: the demo. The demo end just after the december 2189. So I guess the x2 factor was put to reward thoses that played with the retail Galciv version since it is the only retail version can pass 2189. And I know, demo is v1.03, can be played only on small or tiny map, with only the federalist party and no abilities. And since you don't have a galciv id, you will have trouble to submit games to the metaverse

There is also one thing about metaverse score: you get a bonus for finishing in january 2190 and after. There is a x2 factor between winning in december 2189 and winning in january 2190. [Message Edited]
I noticed that it's a lot harder to be an evil race regardless of who the other races are.
When dealing with good races, yes. And evil races care just about one thing: your combined military/economic strength. Evil won't help evil. But Good wil help good.
So does that give extra points, or are the handful of bonuses for Evil considered to be enough (of which the only good one I've seen is the PQ one).
Bonuses for evil are considered to be enou

I have found that having all AI set to evil give more points. More testing are needind to see if the player morality as an influence. Building trade goods give you metaverse points. But building wonder don't seem to have any effect on your metaverse score.
I uninstall the game via Stardock Central. It will be completely removed from my system.
2 i' m playing with the french version, wich has plenty of bugs
If you are playing the french version, you may want to take a look at http://www.nobilis-france.com/detailssoft.php?id_soft=101 It is the french 1.12 patched version. Sure it isn't the latest (1.20 which is only in english), but at least it works :) If you want all english files, you should take a look to the sticky thread about fixed german/french files http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id
The catch with aging to 10% is it kills you. It actually reaches a point that you'd have to accelerate your playing to hold your score. You will actually drop faster than with them axing the scores altogehter. They originally were going to age to 20% and I did a bunch of number crunching showing how bad that was for the longterm player and the implication was that they were going to up the final aging to 30% which still causes your score increase to drop to a very mild upward slope after

Colony Management - Needed when you control both mature and new/immature planets.
If you take a look to the following link http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=132094, you will see that there are some concerns about specializing planets/ avoiding wasting BC with building nothing on some planets while building critical improvement on others.
