Every race knows where stars are. Stellar cartography only allows to know the number of planet orbiting each star. But lots of planest are unsuable (PQ 0) and you can't colonize them. As for the FoW, the AI must deal with it. But some races are more adavantaged than the others if they have a bigger sensor bonus (Torians for example).

Can we copy the game files to a cd for backup? You have an archive feature in SDC And you can have it be used before ecah new download. Very nice if there are beta update showing on SDC that might cause unexecpected beahviors. <TABLE cellpadding=8 w

Sorry, I meant to say that proposal two helps to eliminate micromanagement, as the current situation means you must watch production on every planet to make sure that you are not wasting money on non-existant social projects. Well, proposal 2 corresponds to the manual. BTW, even if you

Any comments as to why this would not work favourably? I think it would help minimize micromanagement on part of the player, adding to the overall fun of the experience. Well, it will sureky change the way things are balanced, but it is a nice idea. And this would get rid of the spending slider. But that wouldn't really change the way you are using

Ok, Let's take an example (number may be off, but formula will be correct). On you planet you have: - a colony base producing 20 manufacturing point and 20 research point - a research center producing 10 research point - 2 factory producing 8 manufacturing point each. So for the planet, you have : - 20 + 2*8 = 36 manufacturing points - 20 + 10 = 30 research points If you set : 100 % spending split 30% for military, 40% for social and 30% for

Well, Stardock policy on piracy is : make it more rewarding to be a customer than a pirate. And your serial Id is the way to identify that you are a customer. And some adavantages are: - need only a valid serial Id to download the full game - no need for CD to play the game There is also a way to get by e-mail all serial Id you have registered on Stardock servers.

The manual states on page 30 that "Social production, represented by hammes, is spent on projects. If you have no projects queued, the number above the hammers will be in parenthesis. In this case, the hammers are not drawing bc from your treasury." Did you change your mind, or is there a misunderstanding Well, if you are interested, you sho

Apparently I can't do the tutorials until I can play the game? I just made my comment based solely on reading the manual, because that's all I can do right now Well, look at the bottom of page 30. It is speaking about setting a focus for a planet

The reference state of the game is version that will be released 2/21. The combat as released is quick resolve. If you're not going to use quick resolve then you won't be playing the game. Are you telling us that the quick resolve and the tactical combat will use different rules to determine the outcome of the battle?

No one wants to impose their desire for tactical combat on you. Just hit the quick resolve button. Try not to be so anal about how other people want to play the game. Well, personnaly, having played MOO, MOO2, MOM, HOMM 2, 3 and 4, I rarely used the quick resolve/auto battle since I knew I can do a better job than the tactical AI on these games. So

but... to make it very easy for you to understand my position : When you have one ship with missels and shilds...your ship is also the attacer..first hit you have 2 opponent ship's one with beams as off-and shild as deff- the ather has guns and big armor ...at witch ship will the AI open fire and on witch ship i will fire can be diffrent...or the AI is rolles for what ship

Some pro-tactic-persons here say before and i also: the great strategicals here will spend hours to create ships...nice..thing but without any effect..do you mean you will look at any AI-only-controllt battle to see your creating, namend ships fight? why? looks great? yes perhaps 1 or 10 times than you feel that is realy obsolet to see samething you can't control...without

Odd, I haven't seen any statements by stardock saying that they're catering to a huge MoO2 crowd. I've seen claims that they should be, but that's usually by members of the MoO2 crowd. GC1 was financially sucessful, as I understand it, despite being even further distanced from MoO2. More the title of the following thread https://www.galciv2.com/Forum

And having no weapon ranges and stuff DOES MOST CERTAINLY NOT mean that options like 'defend certain ship at all costs' tags mean nothing. Combat algorithms, which I imagine are pretty damn simple to begin with, can handily and happily be altered by such pre-combat choices to make sure the kind of tactics you want are applied, even if they're still abstracted. that much is

I know that was the policy with GalCiv 1 - has that been said in the case of GalCiv 2, as well? I don't have a problem using SDC, but the FAQ posted somewhere around this forum says that you'll be able to update GalCiv 2 without the use of SDC, and makes no mention of such updates being less frequent. Well, I am pretty sure that some updates on SDC w

But wont the warez groups just buy one copy get that seriel of that game and then the warez groups would just release the updates themselves. Well the handling of update is simple with SDC but can be tricky if you want to put them on acomputer that won't access directely to Stardock through SDC. Basically SDC will look the files on you GC2 directory

From the "GETTING THE GAME FAQ HERE!!!" thread https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=100213 Q: If I pre-order at will I get the Collector' Edition? A: In North America, as far as we know, ALL pre-orders are being fulfilled with the Collector's Edition. Walmart, EB, and Gamestop explicitly mention it on their sites for instance. </TD

at the very least you should have option open to you before battle in dictating the goals.. such as tagging certain ships to be defended at all costs, certain targets that should be taken out regardless of costs.. to try to withdraw if a certain % of ships are lost.. etc. Well, I guess you must first play with GC2 to see how it works. Uhh, they seperated out the game data files from the optional multimedia bits for those people on dialup still... or for those that just dont care to have them. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that...? Well, you forgot one case: allowing people to play the game sooner while downloading multimedia, tutorials and movies <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" b
