ya, 2 maxed mining bases on influence resources and you dont even need separate influence starbases. just watch the map getting flooded with your influence/color. Id love an option to say how many (or none) resources of each kind should be placed on the map when generating it. influence and military resources are way too powerful imo.

tell him toeither buy GC2 or to stfu. the more success GC2 has, the more time and resources stardock will spent on improving it (and the expansion pack which hopefully adds multiplayer capabilities) and the better for future projects like Master of Magic 2. Its in all our mutual interest that ppl who want to play it buy it. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" bor

you cant really compare a game played at "normal" with a game played at challenging unless youd use the same map for both. the setup of the galaxy is a very important factor for how hard or easy a game is going to be (location of AI empires. habitable planets near your homeworld or near the homeworlds of the AI, resources, anomalies etc). the AI could be improved more with some tweaks here and there, but imo it does a good job already

ya, and I also liked an option like: "dudes, do this or that or give me stuff or its time for war". or a simple "declare war on you" option in the diplomacy screen. having to do a first strike to have war is kinda cheap. ^^

I use the minor civs to trade techs with the most, that way the other major races dont gain tech from me. try to get tech that increases diplomacy. if your trading partner lacks diplomacy you can get better deals. if the minors cant keep up anymore with research I trade tech with the weakest major powers and/or those races that are not arround me (so I wont have to deal with them soon). you should check for techs to trade as soon as you got a new tech. focus your research on the techs the AI doe

in the later stages with large/huge games Iam getting crashes from time to time too. here is a screenshot of the message. seems like a memory-problem of some sort: http://www.new-avalon.de/pictures/GC2Error.JPG error message is in german. Iam going to try to translate it: "The command at "0x0079c9a8" is pointing to the memory in "0x046b7ae0". The action "written" could not be executed on the memory."

and what about a medal for moders? depending on the # of downloads from mods you uploaded. should maybe balanced with the size of the mod so a moder releasing 1 big mod that is downloaded 1000 times is about as good as a moder releasing multiple smaller files that are downloaded as often.

have similar problems right now. have a .X-file and texture (png). moved those into my mods/../models folder. copied s0_scout.shipcfg into my mods/.../shipcfg folder and edited it to use my own X-File. mods ingame are enabled, but it still uses the standard ship model. no clue why. ^^

PC > *. man, everytime a new console comes out people forecast the end of the PC as gaming platform. console sucks and so do most console games anyway. as strategy/roleplayer and MMOGamer consoles dont offer anything for me. My last console was the Super Nintendo many years ago. it will remain that way.

as I understand it the sphere of effect of an economic starbase has to include the planet a trade route starts/ends. it should be a 10/20/30% bonus on top of the trade income of that planet in total. of course it doesnt mean that its actually working like that, or working at all (like social/research production bonus ).

I still have CTDs with the latest patch. sometimes just random while playing, but now also occasionally while loading a savegame. pre-patch I had CTDs when saving too (destroying the savegame), but that seems fixed now.

hm usually in my games they sent a pretty strong fleet (or even up to 3) to destroy the plantets defense. if I pull my fleet out of the planets orbit they sometimes stay near my planet or follow my ships in order to destroy them. then usually an undefended transport is enroute. but sometimes the transport has an escort. it also depends on their logistic ability. a transport is worth 5 logistic points so if they got a logistic of 12 they cant add too many combat vessels to the fleet anyway.

+50 % Weapons is nice. it means with 2 Attack on my ship the ship will effectively have 3 attack. gets better later on with better weapons and simply gives you a nice edge over equally developed or even advanced civs. of course make sure to always attack yourself. dont let em attack you so you are not forced into taking the first strike. currently playing with 50% influence. snagged a couple worlds with it easily, but it seems other civs declare war on you just to prevent your influen
