/shrug the purpose of games is to entertain and to consume your spare time. of course if a game is really great it is very easy to forget about the real world. its a question of discipline. ppl have to realize that escaping the real world and beeing part of a fantasy world is nice and relaxing, however sooner or later real life will come knock at your door and you will have to deal with your problems and responsibilities... so better log out earlier and get

I made a few B5 ship files for GC1 long ago which have been incuded in a few of the larger mod packages. a few ppl wanted to do a larger mod for B5, but as far as I know it never produced any results. It is a real pain to get new graphics into GC1 which was the reason I stoped at one point and for me it was only possible at all thanks to Dark Rains tools. I hope GC2 will feature real 3D objects to mod.

hey Dark Rain. I think without your tool we wouldnt have any new ship graphics worth to speak of. Iam looking forward to GC2 (and MoM2 if it ever comes) and hope we have better modding capabilities there (like a 3DS Max Plugin to export ship models for GC2). I myself am still waiting for a Babylon 5 game, be it strategy or space combat. too bad Into the Fire was canceled by Sierra 1998. :( But on the other side it created a huge modding community (www.firstones.com) workin

BotF was pretty good. however colony management sucked (if you colonize a world late in the game or conquer a heavily destroyed one you have to build and upgrade all the buildings from level 1 up to 10. takes way too long). the battles were ok, tho options and graphics were weak. I missed the option to design the ships myself compared to MoO2. then there was this memory leak that caused a big slowdown later on (even with the latest patch it was better but not fixed). turns in large game
There are the ships in the .... is it the omega ship pack? it has the B5 ship skins that replace the graphics of some current ships.
yeah those are mine. Id make some more, but Iam completely tapped out this semester with my .NET project and other stuff that I dont find the time for it. anyway, Iam probably gonna wait for GC2 eitherway in hope we will have 3D Ships and better (and hopefully built in) modding capabilities.
I played Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. That was designed to allow for multiplayer gameplay. To prevent the inevitable boredom of having to wait for all the other players before your turn came round again, decisions were made simultaneously. So if you wanted to attack the enemy fleet, you'd have to guess where it would be next turn, and even if they only had a movement of one, that leaves nine possibilities - pretty frustrating. aye, both are great. have both, love both. waiting on X² Expansion now. both Egosoft and Stardock are working hard on maintaining their games with new stuff and patches. I wouldnt compare the one with the other nevertheless. apples and oranges.

you mean like if the picture was black and you rotate it you will have white spaces where it turned? if so you should use Dark Reign's tool, you can set a color that will automatically fill the gaps when rotating. [Message Edited]

the autoexec.bat and config.sys for windows XPs DOS mode sits in the system32 folder as autoexec.nt and config.nt. I had no problem running MoM without any emulation software and sound enabled after I screwed arround with the settings there (like remove the dos CD drivers, instead of load use LH, instead of device use devicehigh and ensure you got enough files and buffers set there). the only problem I had was that the sound was sloppy, but *shrug*.

there are 2 things I miss on GalCiv: Multiplayer (LAN,hotseat, internet) and ship construction (eg. research weapons, shields, hulls, engines etc. separately and build the ships you want). of course that would require a different way to handle combat too. ah well, MoO is dead long live GalCiv2 and MoM2! :D

ah yes sorry. you need to place a copy of the ranger.mdl in the mods\gfx folder and open that with Dark Rain's toolset. then replace the .spr1 and .pal_ file inside the .mdl with what came with the mod. I wouldnt touch MUtil at all. its a piece of garbage imo. ;p

I bought GalCiv after Atari dumped MoO3- With a bit more work on another patch it could have been still good. even at 1.2.5 the game was hella buggy. What pissed me off the most were the combat bugs like PD weapons not working and thus every battle evolving solely arround missiles and fighters.

I liked Star Control 3. :p Pax Imperia 2 was okay. what I didnt like that everything started with a rush over the good planets. then you couldnt protect your officers/governors or whatever they were called. Imperium Galactica 1 was great imo. an evolving story, nice graphics and gameplay for its time. GI2 wasnt as fun even tho the gfx were better. There was a demo of Gi3 out months ago, didnt hear anything about the actual game tho.
