if your empire growth bonus is +80%
It was actually about 120%, which might explain my exponential population growth
until either peace breaks out normal growth is reached.
Should have read until either peace breaks out or normal growth is reached The same applies to when I was doing a little soul polishing; settle a cruddy PQ<13 take the good option, transport everybody off and disband the colony, only once I forgot to disband
Only in the lower levels.
This was at crippling - all AI set to genius!
Why didn't you report your score to the Metaverse?
Only a dial-up at home, nice broadband at work, I hardly ever go on-line at home. The score was a bit over 19,000, quite silly really.

The game was going along nicely in a 8x8 galaxy with about 20 useful planets, myself being so good it hurt, while the remaining Yor & Drengin were both sort of demonic and allied. Then the Yor did the great invert alignment trick; demonic to saintly in 1 month. Strangely they remained allies (for a while). In view of the inevitable conflagration to come I had been building up my military - a few Overlords & Avatars, lots of Phoenixes and a host of Combat Transports. Then all of
If I consider myself good, why can't I research evil techs, if I use them in the "right" way?
You'll be saying "The ends justify the means" next ;)
"Good" civilisations don't start wars. Even prem-emptive ones. Especially ones without any proper justification. And they certainly don't impose their way of life on other people. While pretending to do it for the good of the people. Sound familiar
Ah, but they consider themselves to be good,
It's odd that I can be 'saintly' start a vicious and unprovoked war, and still be saintly!

The Crusades anyone?
I think you'll find the only people who thought the Crusaders were good, godly and just were the crusaders themselves and their backers, most other people *especially* the inhabitants of the "holy" land just thought them to be a bunch of evil murderous b**t**ds

Ook Ook (You wouldn't be an Orang Utang would you? I'm well aware of the difference between a Monkey and an Ape)
Thing is, you then get into ambiguous morality issues. What's good and what's evil?
That's the whole point. Your alignment should reflect your actions not 'press button 1 for good' etc.... I think not giving the outcome in advance is essential for role playing and would force people to think a bit before they make a choice. A

The times of war are upon us, my mighty fleet traverses the featureless void, we then engage the foul enemy on his own turf and liberate the planet - hurrah, give the schools a days holiday. OK so the survivors from my combat transports then occupy the planet, then next month my population has grown by as much 10% - eh??? The only way this could happen was if my army is almost entirely female and all in varying stages of pregnancy. Call me sentimental, but I don't think that near-term

Alignment suggestions, perhaps for GalCiv2 When we have to make a choice that affects alignment, it's too easy, you know which does what, and just how good or bad it will be, the only unknown is how much it changes your alignment. This strikes me as unrealistic in the extreme. I think a better & fairer method would be: 1) Random order. 2) Don't give the outcome until the choice is made. 3) Randomize the outcome, sometimes taking the good

Matthew
is there any way to get rid of that wretched skull? Destroying the planet with a Terror Star usually does the trick.
And you're good! I don't think I'd want to be in the same universe if you were evil! ;) [Message Edited]

"The citizens of some cruddy planet are revolting, the feel they have more in common with the Yor" Arrg - ramp up the propaganda to 100% and start being nasty to the Yor Later: Stats screen shows the cruddy planet to be the happiest in my empire. The Yor are just a bad memory. The people are still revolting! - "They feel they have more in common with the Terrans" Doh! - they are going to revolt against me and join - me! What is going on here? - is

I would really like for systems with multiple planets is some way of specifying which planet I load or unload a transport or colony ship. This is for those situations where there is one planet with a high PQ where everybody is very happy, but the other planet around the same star is of a lower PQ and the morale is lower. It seems daft that I can take people from both planets and move them to a new system, but I can't move people within a system - or have I missed something?

So they are created to give someone a nice new planet, in big galaxies with lots of planets this hardly matters, but on smaller galaxies or ones where useful planets are uncommon getting just one more planet could tip the balance of power. If they are there to "shake things up" a better starting position for them would be for them to be at an intermediate tech level, have a stack-o-cash (tm) and also either 1) own a few defensive ships, perhaps a new class of ship with loads of defe

A Thread dedicated to all seekers of truth, beauty & malice I'll kick it off with a simple one: When you wipe out (benevolent genocide - don't you love it) another race; Before the end of the turn go to the dippy screen and you'll see that they are still there even though they have no planets left, this would be a good time to pursue peace, so offer a peace treaty and also suggest they give you all their money and any techs they may have lying about, they will almost

There you are, over midway through a game, when out of nowhere a new race pops up on some previously uninteresting system, the have 100 million population, no improvements at all, and have every tech that ANY other civ has, this is so wrong, there is no way they should be fully teched up. A better starting position for mid-game new minors would be for them to have every tech that is known to ALL the other civs. Because they have all this tech I consider them to be a serious liability so

I agree with the majority here, towards the end of the game I find that my highest producing planets have built everything they need, and all the stuff they might need is one month from completion, it seems a waste to have them building nothing and getting no return for the same. This is even more the case when I'm "in conflict" as the trade seems to take a battering, especially if there is only one other culture left. Someone said earlier that you would still need to pay wages rent et
