Even in windowed mode 1024 wide and 768 tall are the minium values we suggest, but even at smalle rez you'll be able to play, the UI will just start to stretch funny.

>>The robots at the repro factories already have it... I wish, then we could all sleep The gold master will be going out in the next few days, once v1.0 has been passed around the office a few time to ensure there are no major issues. We appreciate your excitement, though, and hope it's worth the wait!

I'd stick with the campaign missions. The first few do a good job setting you up with learning the basics. You play with a simplified tech tree, making research less overwhelming. You have a simple, specific directive (ex. take planet X), opposed to "take over the galaxy by any means necessary". And you play with a limited number of players on a small, custom made map, so you can learn the map and, if you replay, you'll have a better idea going into it what you'll need to do to wi

Ash: In certain missions you will be "Teammates" with other races. Think of this as an "Ally with Benifits", namely that trading is easier, and that you physically can't attack them (a dialog comes up to stop you).

Glavius is correct, the graphical style stays the same, but the colors change to match the new race. We even had a situation in the campaign where the Dreadlords traded ships to the Yor, so we saw these crazy organic purple ships flying aroudn the galaxy. It was weird.

That was one of the features that we put into GC1's bonus pack (a "day of release" free expansion that all customers had access to), and it's on the list of features to put into GC2's bonus pack, so hopefully you'll get your wish

Besides just basic "less people meens less overlapping reports", we also want there to be SOME suprise when users get the final version...the jump for players from Beta 5 to the final release will be significant, and we want them to go "Ah yes, THIS is MUCH better". When you get incremental updates, like the gamma testers do, it takes that 'UMPH' out of getting 1.0. Honestly, if it were up to us, there'd be about 2 months at the end of the project whith NO beta testers so EV

THis is definatly a regestry problem...unfortunatly, I know little about this area We'll chat with the SDCentral guys and see what could fix this.

When you save and restore does the planet return? ALso, if anyone is unsure of their system specifics (video ememory on card, exact speed of CPU) just look in your root GalCiv2 folder for a file called "Debug.err". It will write out your exact system specs at the top, making it easier for you to post here

I can access my email from home, but I think Brad chooses not to as a step towards seperating home life from work life (but you can see how well that worked out but the 2am posts above ). I have the problem fixed (or at-least patched) on my home computer, but I don't quite know how to perform a release build, so we're going to have to wait until I get in touch with a member of the team that can make a fresh EXE. We were able to isolate the problem to NVidia machines (my home machine have a g-force and got the same crash). I beleive we found a temporary solution and hopefully will be able to post a new version ASAP. Sorry you guys have to trudge though bugs like this, but in a few weeks you'll have a better, more stable game because of it

There are some important factors that will severely multiply the cost of an upgrade. 1.) Are you adding a new type of weapon to the ship (ex. didn't have MassDrivers before, now has +5 MD Attack Points) 2.)Are you significantly raising the attack of a ship (ex. Before had 5 MassDriver Pts, now has 25) 3.)Are you adding the ability to Colonize, Transport, Trade, or Construct (big cost on that last one) 4.) Are you upgrading to a larger hull size? <

Uh oh...looks like some of the old numbers from GC1 trickled itnto the new GC2 system We'll nerf any overwhelming values ASAP.

Also, MAKE SURE you're activly trading with the other races (requires the low-level tech "Universal Translator"). THis not only keeps you up to speed technologially, but it also keeps relelations with those races high (plus, it's what the aliens are doing...why shouldn't you ) ps. Thanks for the kinds words...we'd all be estatic if the game reaches "Blockbuster" status, but we'll be happy with just making a "good, solid

Yeah, those settings dont take effect until the galaxy is restarted IIFC (and may actually require a game reboot). We'll have to put in a popup message so players know this. Other than that, did this help your visibility problem?

We'll probably do something similar to the ships, where we make about 5 different sets that we use across 10 different races. Hopefully this, along with the color difference, will make the battles more unique (or, at least, unique enough ).

You SHOULD be able to adjust the # of stars and nubula in the BG to fit your liking, this should clear up any visual problems associated with the starfield. Also, adding more nebula would be pretty easy, but it's been so long that it has kinda escaped our realm of concern. We'll revisit the starfield in our next GC2 meeting Keep the ideas coming....the art crew is ready to polish the hell out of GC2 <img src="smiles/
