Well, One of the first companies to put DRM-like control onto DVDs(forcing peeps to watch the previews) is now interested in the maker of the most DRM laden games on the market. Seems a perfect fit and easier to boycott them both as whole :) .

It's broke, has been broke and seems likely to be broke. It's only there to give false hope. There is several posts a weeks about it yet they can't seem to simply remove it. Of course then you would probably have people asking where the search is ;) . Fixing it seems unlikely after all these months, but would be a big help to newer people(and vets) trying to find info. People just don't usually know about site searches and really shouldn't need to when there is a search box sitting there on t

GalCiv2 has been a strange one on W7. Dread Lords ran fine right off the bat. Dark Avatar and Twilight wouldn't work until I went into the pref.ini and adjust the resolution to my monitor and put it into windowed mode(for dual screen setup). Otherwise just a black screen and had to kill it through Task manager. SoundMAX HD audio drivers are a little flaky trying to get installed, but used the ones for vista 64 seemed to work as long as I used compatibility mode on the installer(coming

Well since you mentioned schoold I take it your on the young side, so you will still have some time to go through some growth adjustments. Could just be a phase your goin through. Alarms suck for me to and no normal one will wake me. One thing I did is hook an auditorium loudspeaker to a clock radio. Put it far enough away that you have to get out of bed to get to it and point it at your head. If it doesn't get you roused whoever else is in the house will when they come rushing i

AA gets rid of the "jaggies" along the edges of things, so yes it makes things smoother. I believe AA itself is more on the GPU than CPU. When testing CPU bottlenecks it seems to be recommended to turn off AA. I think that is due to it possible tainting the test with a GPU intesive feature. I'm no expert though ;) .

One bad thing about sleep cycles. I think we are forced into this 6-8 hour, roughly 11pm to 6am habit. Every persons body is different and for some the natural sleep time is different. I find about 4pm to 10 or 11pm to be the best time for myself and even have worked that around work in the past. You can force yourself into the so called "normal" sleep cycle, but even after 20 years my body still hates it and whenever I am off work I revert to my natural time to sleep.

When I had a subscription to Cmputer Gaming World and got their demo discs they would often have wallpapers on them. Bad thing is they took an entire widescreen type box on top and bottom to put Computer Gaming World in bold letters. Just looked aweful, but a few minutes with GIMP took care of that. I have also skipped using many an otherwise cool looking wallpaper due to a big, ugly, out of place looking logo on it.

FarCry2 Installs and works. It benchmarks lower than on my Xp setup on the same PC in DX9 mode, but gets better FPS in DX10. Thing is, it still is a little choppier than on the same rig on XP in game. All settings Ultra High 8xAA though ;)
I have a similar, but different problem. I wanted to install 7 as a dual boot with Vista onto a second drive already on my system. But when I try, 7 don't see that drive. It sees my C drive and my G drive (external) but not my F drive, internal.
Have you tried going into your disk management and checking if it shows up there? Win 7 seems to have an issue with assigning drive letters after the first two or three drives. After going into DM and assigning it a letter I cou

You need more RAM and I'd say a Gfx card update should be in your near future as well. The larger all abundant maps can use almost all of the 2GB of RAM alotted to 32bit programs, so the game is dipping into the swap file probably causing some of the slowdown. The zoomed in slowdown is being exxagerated by the dated Gfx card also I believe. Short of an upgrade, you'll just need to keep turning down options. Some of the biggies are planet surface variety, specular intensity, and for me(before

Another way to rush buy and save a few BCs is to buy a blank cargo hull(492bc) and upgrade it to a colonizer. Depending on what you have on the colony ship the cost can vary, but usually you can figure on saving about 300bc over rush buying the colony ship itself. You just have to be able to weather the turn delay for the upgrade.

I just never really got into HOMM and after SDs GC2 got me hooked on scifi TBSs, I look forward to seeing where the GalCiv series goes from here. I don't wanna go back to the midevil type game with swords and horses ;) . Of course this is all just one persons opinion

@Pndrev I remember that happening to me as well at one point. I'm not sure if the forums changed or my browser. I did do a reinstall of everything recently, so I may have something different now. I agree there was supposed to be some meta love, but then again there was also originally supposed to be more of a 2.0 backport to DA and some for DL as well. Can't complain much about free updates but this is the second time I have seen things I have been looking forward to dropped(Epic Gene
Another thing that was amusing was this: They had satellite, and HD costs extra, and they didn't pay the extra so the satellite was all SD. But over the airwaves, it's all advertising paid, and many stations switched to HD, so they were getting a far better picture with the antenna than with the satellite!! That was so ironic.
It took awhile for people to start realizing if your recieving HD content through a cable box or satellite reciever the signal is compresse
Using an agent, I could see that the social/military/research was through the roof and in three digits in the 2 AIs capital planets without any major bonuses being around.
When looking at AI planets in this way, IIRC you are seeing the maximum potential output of the three categories not what is actually being prodiced based on their current slider settings. That's why when you take over with a normal split spending setup your output shows much less.
