I usually take a turn or two to get the first sensor tech and build two or three surveyors. On gigantic maps it's good to spit out a couple extra survey ships for the anomoly rush. Can make a big difference in how your initial economy situation plays out. A few 2500bc anomolies can be a lifesaver. I agree the Galctic Guide Book comes a little late to be of much help.

There's some who would say that planet should be loaded with INv. Matrix'/NLC's or Man. capitol and Ind. Sectors. Look at some of Mumblefratz' research planets he's posted. It could be producing 10,000+ RPs. or a load of money as a pure economic cap.
I think he's saying you can over write the core styles with some of the new ones from DA, but you cant add a sixth style within the original game. You will lose one of the original styles in order to add a DA only style.
Custom Races will have no fixed natural abilities, but more points to spend instead. That would be great. I just wonder if customs will have access to the same inherent abilities as the preset races, like Miniturization or logistics. With a limit of course, as some of those could be quite powerful.
The right-clicking of the icon does launch and center, but if there is other ships with moves(like a miner), the other ship will actually be selected. Not sure how many times I've moved the wrong ship this way , since I'm zoomed out a lot I can't see the little selection circle around the ship. Not really a complaint, as I've learned to check first now, but since it was mentioned...
Actually no it was missing, but upon a reload it is back. It's kinda like the starbase graphic glitch I had posted about before. They would get all weird looking, but after either alt/tabing out and back, or reloading a save everything is back to normal. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing these little glitches. If not, I may need to look to my system as the problem.
ok. Thanks for the heads up I was going to try it, but hadn't fully developed my tech capitol yet.
bet you wish you didnt say that now lol.. yea, but Brad already knows people use ships with more moves than that. When I said that though, I was getting the number from a recent game where I had the 50% speed increase event. I think they really had 40 something moves. Hopefully any changes won't be too dramatic, but could add a little more strat
I just got a couple of small bugs/glitches I've noticed that I haven't seen mentioned. This is Alteria in my current 1a game Notice it's missing it's little "crown" to show it's the capitol. Took me a while to find their capit
The argument that a transport of 85 moves to 3 is too harsh really tells me that I need to go back in and make engines cost a lot more space and money. Please no! I take it back honestly. As you've already seen, I've changed my tune on the subject
Does the Super ability and the starbase effects stack, possibly reducing you to a minimum of 1 space per turn? I hadn't thought of that, but as I'm in a game as the Yor now I'll try it.
The drengin super ability is to recieve free ships if they go to war, but as of now it seems to need some tweaking.
The parts upgrade thing is in options under interface, right hand side bottom option.
The asteroids say they are producing industrial production points. I was wondering if this is a boost just to production, ie ship/improvement building or if it can also transfer as research points. I wanted to find out if it is feasable to boost your tech capitol by reassigning a large group of asteroid mines to it. I know the focus will transfer some points from other categories to tech, but is this an efficient use of asteroids? Thanks for any thoughts on the matter. <img src="http://images.st
hmm... I thought the ab points were locked in the latest beta. How did you get them to reset?
I had the same choice when reporting the other day. Don't remember which I picked.I think either would get it to the right place anyway.
It's on purpose temporarily till balancing is done. It's in a thread around here somewhere. The ability points should be 5 now, same reason. edit:NM if your talking GCII, just saw the bug report thing as the forum.
I have found that minimum requirements are just that. You can run the engine without most the graphical bells and whistles. It'll run, but look like crap. This is games in general btw not just GCII. Recommended requirements are what I try to shoot for when choosing games like FPSs, because gameplay is directly linked to speed and graphics. 4x Strat games on the other hand gameplay is more surreal and less dependant on graphics. In GCII on gigantic maps, I'll at times disable most the textures fo
Did anybody actually check the link he put up? Kind of a strange dude.
I just was playing the threeway scenario, which is small and only has three civs. I had all of two rally points. One for constructors, one for war ships. The one for constructors worked fine. I pumped about thirty constructors out to it without issue. The warship rally on the other hand, absolutely would not work after two ships. The planet they were set from would still auto launch them, but they just sat there. I cleared it from the planet and reset it, and it still wouldn't work. 1.4 game
I was just playing around in the custom ship templates and the only way I can see to use them at this point is to play a game with the style you want designed. Design them all in game, then assign your saved designs to a custom race. Seems this feature would really benefit from an external ship designer. Not external from the game, but accessible without being in game.
unfunf figured out the exact scoring mechanisms waaaaaaaaaaay back before leaving the forums due to jealous jackasses. Stardock know if someone is exploiting, because they can tell whether or not the score is possible. I remember when I first started coming here there was remnents of a controversy involving unfunf. I was hazy on the details, but
HOLY CRAP Mumble! That is better than the last one I seen you post. I still haven't broke ten thousand yet on one. Just can't get the right combo of placement, quality and bonuses.
In every game, it seems like resources are much less likely to be placed near my home turf. heh.. funny you mention that, Started a beta 1a game and had a moral resource within site of my homeworld. I couldn't believe the luck. There was several more peppered around not to distant, so it just maybe an unlucky run your going through.
You could imagine if someone at this early stage of the beta, found a mega scoring exploit and kept it to themselves for a while to pad their ranking.
