In case you haven't seen it, the planet Mars is putting on quite a show in the late night sky. I'm on the west coast (US) and it comes up around 1:00am in the SE sky. I have to wait until almost 2:30 to see it though because of the trees around my house. Mars is closer to the Earth than it has been for 60,000 years. It's the largest and brightest thing we've ever seen in the sky. On August 27th it will be at its closest. It appears as a huge orange light in the sky and looks so u

When I was a little kid I made model cars. They were real detailed, I'd put fabric on the seats, thread for spark plug wires, any detail that wasn't on the model I'd add with carved pieces of plastic. It was a gas and I won awards from the local hobby shop. I even put a transistor radio in the base for one of them and flashlight bulbs for headlights with a switch on the dashboard to turn it on. Of course, after completing a new one I'd usually blow up the previous one with cherry bombs...&n

I don't know GA, I'm curious too... frankly I think it was a dumb thing to do. I can understand the logic though, if you're no longer here and your work is all gone, that's pretty much what gets you the apprentice status. But I wouldn't have done that, especially not in the midst of this thread...

GA - your original account has an attbi address. Did you maybe try comcast or something? Your other account, the new one, has a completely different address. Your status on the original is aprentice and of course it's citizen on the new one. Both accounts are active and valid.

Nobody removed your account GA. This is a perfect example of a situation that could be solved by contacting an admin but instead becomes an accusation on the message board. I just tried to look you up but the user database is only returning errors. I'll keep trying and let you know what I find when it finally works. get a grip... nobody removed you...

It can be hard to respond to a thread like this because so many different people post their bit to it. I was responding (not even sure if it's this thread or one of the other ones) to 3 other people before Apocalypse and LadyA showed up. The other posts were concerning ratings though they quickly degenerated into accusations of admin abuse, elitism and site politics. None of the accusations made any sense to me. I'm willing to accept that I might be biased or I might n

quote: " all this rude responses filled with all type of sarcasm and mockery whenever an artist or user post or shows any type of concern in regards to a certain topic" What are you saying? This sounds to me like the same argument I have (though stretched across a broad generality) about the message board. I don't like the way people get attakced by members here when they bring up controversial subject

once again, we are accused of unfair and degrading treatment of artists. where? how? who did it? I asked for the people making these claims to offer their argument with something specific, some facts, and to offer a solution. So far no one has.

The problems expressed in this and the other thread aren't just moderation or ratings. I would like to see the people that are really complaining offer a simple statement of the problem and their solution.

The submission rules would still be in place so no Britney's - sorry This is a concern though. We don't want to just shift the angst to those who appreciate moderation.

We're planning to stop moderating walls, just use the ratings system to filter them, precisely because of threads like this. Will it make everyone feel better? I doubt it but we're willing to try. I'd like to ask a question of everyone in this thread and the other one that's so similar... What would you recommend to fix the problems you see? please be specific in what the problem is and what you think would solve it

Once again, my statement "If your discontent..." is not aimed at anyone in particular, just a general 'you' (anyone in other words). Some history about this site might be helpful. This is purely from my memory so correct me if I'm wrong. Skinz.org was the 'king' of skinning sites (they had a fierce and unrelenting moderator who rejected walls constantly btw) and it became apparent that skinz was going down in flames. There was a real concern that the remaining skin sites would

Phoon, I wasn't aiming my comments at you and I think your post shows how confused this issue gets. It's a perception some people have and I think it's better to discuss it than to let emotional rants carry it to some absurd level of conspiracy. Expressing your discontent is fine. Wallpapers are a cool part of the site and should be here. Why let a few people ruin that for everyone else? If your discontent is about ratings why should that get stretched into a bashin

Out of 24 categories we post here, only 9 of them are Stardock products. The admins don't make any money from this site, we work for free. This site is ALL about the skinners and the work they create. If this site is to promote Stardock products then so is skinz.org, skinbase, custo.org, etc. Skin sites are extremely expensive to run. Our advantage is having some philanthropic money from a skinning company to help, but the site still needs to make it's own mon

but hashonboat has not said anything truthful in his post. In fact, his last post is the most untruthful melodramatic pack of lies I've ever seen posted here. But if you feel that supports your own conclusions you must go with it. I do recomend you examine your motives and try to find what is really true at some point. Bottom line, as a moderator I feel terribly insulted by comments like these. That however would not affect how I moderate walls or rate skins when I post them. I

The way I understood it is like what paxx says, there is no 32bit 'color' in RGB. 24bit and 32bit color both have 16.8 million colors. 32bit RGB has an extra 8bits for alpha levels and other header data. I've also heard that CMYK uses the extra 8bits for color, so all 4 channels have 8bits. I'm not sure if any of this is true though... I hear they're developing 48bit and 64bit color systems. That will be interesting.
