wow China I didn't know there was a "right" way to do it... I always just tied knots in a thing and threw it in a vat of dye... when it came out I untied it, tied more knots and threw it in a different vat of dye. Then it was done... Then I sold it to some tourist on Haight St and bought some XXXX </P

kona - why is it I expect to see comments from you at the end of EVERY thread?
oh please, enough already... what's with this Jafo bashing thing anyway? I don't get it. It's like you're not gonna let up until it gets bloody or something. I think we've all had enough of this and just for the record, if this site was as bad you'd have us believe it would never tolerate posts like these. Speak your mind but stop attacking anything that moves... we have rules about that and frankly I've heard enough. Give it a rest, please...
only people that never post on the message board get promoted...
Everyone needs to remember there are over two million people that come to this site. The message board is a "forum" and should be used as such, discussing things that relate to us in a variety of ways. Not just skinning but almost any topic that people want to discuss. Most of the visitors here never post on the board but surely thousands of them read this stuff. For many it must be intimidating to see the drama that's become so common, and for many it's probably either amusing or
yeah I feel real motivated to give you some helpful criticism.
hmmm No Rules has an interesting idea I think. I'm not sure how something like that could be implemented but somewhere in that thought may be a way to improve the site. I need to think about this more and now is not a good time for me (my brain is shut down at the moment and I have to go out into the real world for awhile). Creative ideas about how to manage wallpapers is good, gets us all thinking. Surely there's some way to make it better that no one has thought of yet. We would lo
That's basically it. Like Mike said if you use a graphics editor like PS or Paint Shop Pro you can reduce the file size considerably without visible image loss. Different colors allow for more compression too. You might find a predominantly red or orange wall will handle a higher compression setting than a predominantly blue or green one. Emperiment with the compression settings. An average 1280 x 1024 wall should not need to be larger than about 500k to look good. BMP's will always
ugh... I was afraid that was going to happen. Zodiaq - I feel you were treated unfairly in this thread. I feel it's a common occurrence on this message board too. If I may quote myself from another painful thread that's active right now... What I would like to see change is the immediate preconceptions that surface every time someone starts a conversation about
To me StyleXP is interesting in only one aspect. It forces you to work within strict limitations. When I got a lot of requests to port Seti to StyleXP I tried to make it work. What I realized was it was impossible to get something even remotely similar to the WB version. It would have had the same color and graphic style but none of the function or design could survive the transition. That's not necessarily a bad thing though if you are trying to learn commercial art or GUI design. Mo
hashonboat - Your first comment regarding the rating of your piece was filled with insults and accusations thrown at the site and the admins. You were filled with anger and made it clear that you felt we were a bunch of jerks. You made ridiculous accusations and tried very hard to make your jabs hurt. Perhaps you should take a little personal responsibility for the tone of the responses you got.
It's true that moderators are the safest way to have your work rated. User ratings often are nothing more than a friend trying to make you feel good or an enemy trying to make you feel bad. If someone gets mad at you they'll give you a 1 to drag down your score, likewise, your buddy will give you a 10 to show he's your buddy. Moderators don't do these things, they rate your work in a consistent manner using criteria that makes the consistency of the ratings more meaningful. It
I was gonna try to make a skin for that format until I realized I had to give up moving the buttons to a different location, leave off any buttons that aren't standard windows issue, use only standard windows border sizes, no rollup, no plugins, etc... The only thing I use skins for is to improve the way Windows works, not just to recolor it but leave it exactly the same in terms of functionality. Ultimately it wasn't worth the effort... But let us know if you make one, I'd like to see
Chas I appreciate people making suggestions and ratings has been a contentious issue since the site went up. We've changed the system several times to address user input and try to make it more acceptable. The problem with your idea is we can't have pieces that aren't rated for a few reasons; 1- The ratings are used for sorting, anything without a rating would be either invisible or at the end of the section. 2- Very few people leave ratings. There's a good probability un
thanks for clarification AR - I have no idea whats going on... but it is definitly lame. I guess there's a potential that the ratings are coming from an admin that's just lost it over the complaining. We have ten rating points so maybe someone's decided we should use the whole range...
There is no admin default rating, well actually there is and it's a 0. We have to put a rating on each piece when they're posted or else it goes up with a zero and no one can see it. The default of 6 is for everyone that bypasses moderation, journeyman and above I think...
Thanks Zodiaq... I appreciate the tip. This isn't being done the usual way, it looks like someone's hacked into the admin controls. jeesh...
This isn't worth responding to... other than to say I'm really tired of being insulted by crybabies. There's nothing i could say here that wouldn't sound pretty foul. I will point out to you though, the only people quilty of what you claim is happening here is you. You're spewing poison and the good people here deserve better.
/me shivers at the thought of having to rate poetry... Snowman, the birth of a child is definitely one of the most wondrous events anyone gets to witness. My son's birth was also a moment of unbelievable spiritual energy. It truly is like seeing a miracle with your own eyes. That's really interesting paxx, there's even a lot of documented cases of the same thing happening with organ transpl
Congrats! Let us know if Serial ATA lives up to all the hype.
Good luck buddy, don't let them extend your 'visit'.
