For me it was the realization that I had been alive before and was killed in a war. I had a recurring dream as a baby on into my toddler years. In it I shot a guy, we were both wearing uniforms, he was old, maybe 50 or 60, and from an Oriental race, probably Japanese. I looked in his eyes and felt like such a shit for shooting him. I dropped my rifle and walked over to him to help him, figuring I could do something for his wound, maybe keep him alive. When I was close enough he pulled out a s

I guess I'm the same way, I don't give bad ratings to work I don't care for, but I assume other people will so it's not like I'm preventing low ratings. When I post a piece I have to give it a rating. In this case I try to apply lots of different criteria and give as fair and accurate a rating as I can. I feel it's important to place the piece in a spot where it would be surrounded by similar works in terms of execution, function and aesthetics. But I don't think I ever go rate a

I wish there was a way to discuss this issue without the obvious negativity taking over. The fact is, we all use wallpapers. So it stands to reason we all like wallpapers. There's no argument on that point. Personally I love getting new wallpapers, I change mine pretty frequently. In fact, the volume of good wallpapers is one reason I don't make them any more, I don't need to. The moderation issues are a no win for us. As Jafo and BoxXXi pointed out, we get melodrama from the me

It was reported yesterday in The Register, a UK tabloid, that the RIAA has filed 1,000 lawsuites naming file-sharers in what will become an unprecedented spate of expensive litigations that could bankrupt and imprison individuals and tie up the courts as well as flood the prisons with ordinary citizens. Remember this is to counter what the record industry is claiming are decreased sales which they blame on file sharing. In Congressional hearings the RIAA refused to provide sales figures from

Chas - or anybody - if you feel a rating is undeserved or unfair you can write to an admin to have it reviewed. We have done this many times and corrected some ratings that were obviously vindictive or just plain unreasonable (a 1 rating on a skin with 3 8's or 9's for example). The only way we'll know if this happens to you is if you tell us...

Thanks sig... this thread is really strange and I appreciate your comments, they're more to the point than a lot of the other arguments. Buchen, I never even noticed your name until this thread. The thought that anyone would work at harming your downloads is so ludricous it's beyond belief that you would base your leaving on it. Trust me, it never happened to you or anyone else. The admins do not have access to any programming, only T-Man and his crew of elves can do th

I too just went to see what the fuss was over but the evidence is already deleted. For the record: Wincustomize admins have no personal agenda against any submissions, we don't blacklist or interfere with anyone's downloads. I don't think there's even a way it would be possible to do such a thing. Speaking for myself, I try to do as much moderating as possible while I'm here and usually

for screenshots the preview image should be a full-size jpg and the file should also be a full-size jpg. If you're doing this and you still get the error, it's probably just one of those weird days for the server. Keep trying, it'll probably work eventually.

I just checked all your walls and the one called Warm Yellow doesn't have a zip file for download. Update the file sending the zip again and I'll try to get it through moderation real quick... [Message Edited]

I did bump into David Crosby once and he just glared at me - it was hysterical, we were both wearing exactly the same hat walking down Sunset Blvd in front of the Whiskey in '68. We were both younguns and I knew he was in the band playing up the street (the Byrds) so I was gonna say hi but he was pissed I had 'his' hat on. hehe I kind of avoided him after that... Thanks for the link Kevin! Wha

In February of '99 I was following a newsgroup about cable modems and someone had posted a screenshot of their system with the BlueOS skin running. They didn't offer any explanation of how they did it but after a bit of searching I found Windowblinds. A month later I made my first skin. I'm still hopelessly addicted, can't stand working on a machine without WB loaded...

Sorry to hear you're having such severe weather. Bad timing hitting on a national holiday. Maybe these guys are on to something: 03 July 2003 "In an astonishing announcement on global warming and extreme weather, the World Meteorological Organisation signalled last night that the world's weather is going haywire. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/environment/story.jsp?story=421166

btw - Nikos, I feel your pain... and everyone else with this problem too. Having one's email address on so many websites opens you to the spam-n-virus spiders that seem so efficient at finding ways to nail you. Koasati recommended I use MailWasher so I downloaded it and will try to teach it to be ruthless when I get back from my trip. The latest batch of spam I've gotten looks awfully hard to filter by the subject line. Hopefully MailWasher will do the trick. </P

Recently my system was "hacked" which meant I had to build a new system, install a hardware firewall and loose almost a week of production. I barely make a living doing freelance graphics and the added expense and lost time was devastating. The only trail I could find for the hacker was to somewhere in Herndon Virginia, plus another attack from a bogus company in Hong Kong. On top of that I get about 20 viruses and about 150 spams every day on 3 different email addresses.
