I never read Lord of the Rings because after I made it through War and Peace I was burned out on huge books with tons of characters to keep straight through the whole story.... After the first Renaissance Faire there were lots of kids running around with names like Frodo and Bilbo. I must admit I felt kind of left out sometimes but now I can just see the movie (!) I'm glad I waited.....

I just saw this at the link Brad posted above... "Software to convert WB skins to XP is probably viable but WB skins suck so bad.. who would want it?". That really says a lot about who we're dealing with here. These guys don't have a clue about customizing, artwork or gui design. At skinz.org there was a script which would delete a skin for 'update abuse' if it exceeded a certain amount. I think it was more than 4 times in week or something like that. I had a skin deleted when I uploaded it to the wrong category, fixed that and hit the upload button twice, and then did a couple bug fixes pointed out in comments. Boy did I feel dumb... I don't know how we would check for abuse here. An update should be done only to improve or fix an existing skin. With the number

Supposedly there were particles called 'tachyons' that could exceed the speed of light (thus they were travelling backwards in time). Although they were theoretical their existence would break the absolute reign of 186k miles per second. The big problem is the 'time' and 'mass' question. If all you want to do is cover great distances, exceeding the speed of light creates more problems than it solves. At this point I think science has a pretty good chance of working with the structure

Just for the sake of accuracy, Alexandrie was skinning before Russ. I think her first skin was a litestep theme but I remember her as Lufia and first saw her work on Windowblinds. She had already made several skins when I discovered WB and I remember Russ' first skins came months later. I think Brad has a point that the events of Sept 11th and the ensuing uncertainty has made for a lot of raw nerves, deep sadness and inapropriate responses. I was in a 7.2 earthquake (Lomo Prieta in '89) and the entire downtown area (Santa Cruz) was destroyed. If what I said is wrong it would only be because the actual motivation for the attacks is a personal agenda. That's the other (and decidely more devious) reason such things occur.
