Thanks for the link kwee2. Chaz posted some of those photos at LOS a couple days ago and they brought a flood of tears to my eyes. We are truly a global family...

Brad, how can you be sure of that? Do you have access to records none of the rest of us do? The CIA did in fact distribute a paper by one of their analysts in 1993 describing exactly this scenario.
Hey You - As far as I know China has not agreed to anything, and only a few weeks ago officially recognized the Taliban as a legitimate government. They have a strong alliance with both Afganistan and Pakistan. The news I saw about China said that they have told our government that they would not support any military action against Afganistan or any other country. The operation Bush's administration is proposing is a world-wide attack against terrorism. The countries already mentioned as
I noticed the last 3 days there have been massive troop movements taking the polar route. I saw the same thing a week before we found out about Desert Storm. So, yesterday, I told my friend Ron - we are going to war in the middle east. Then last night I had a dream where I watched a building that looked like a single WTC tower get hit by a missle and blow up. In the dream the color was like a sepia-tone, very strange looking and unlike any dream I've ever had. This morning I woke up
I'm still in shock... I feel as though the world has changed forever for me. I feel such anguish and pain, and I pray for all who've been hurt by these insane acts of violence.

Your house got hit by lightning?? yikes....
Elfie - In your profile you can set a rating below which you won't see any postings...
hooray! I'm out of the top twenty... I'm feeling less nerdy by the minute
Zork was what got my son started with his love for computers. He played it back in '88 on an an Apple 500c and got hooked on techno-geekisms. Now he's enjoying a successful carreer as a software developer... I think Zork was a great educational tool and a game that really inspired creativity and imagination. I wish the genre had become more popular instead of disappearing in favor of explicit graphics...

yep China... Oil would do it...
Supposedly the water level change resulting from the end of the ice-age can only account for about 350 feet. To be at 2200 feet this city must have been inundated by some other event. Or the academics are wrong about the ice-age too.
My favorite "absurd egyptologist" statement was by Dr Hawass on a TV program on the Discovery Channel. He was trying to be convincing about the "fact" that the Great Pyramid is not anything but an empty tomb and actually said "really it's just a.. well... a pile of rocks." The official academic view still taught in school is that the Great Pyramid was built by King Kufu to be his tomb, and was botched in the construction so they buried him somewhere else. Even though nothing has ever b
That's really interesting China... Valley Fever eh? Maybe it was more like an exposure to uranium that made them close it (or they wanted the shark's teeth to themselves). kenray - do you really mean Hailli Sellassi or Zahi Hawass? Zahi is the "Director of antiquities" for the Giza Plateau, which includes the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid. The other gentleman was the spiritual and political leader of Ethiopia which is a bit further south ...
That is a cool site crae... thanks! Looks like a lot of interesting stuff there...
The nVidia Detonator 3 drivers ver 11.01 work the best for me (no issues at all) on Win2k with a TNT2 card. I had big problems with ver 12.41. Others say that the 10.90, 14.70 and 12.90 are also very good. The 12.90 were mentioned as being perfect with the geForce2... The new Detonater 4 series should be the best yet when they are available (very soon). Stardock worked with nVidia's developers to make sure all the Windowblinds issues were fixed. In spite of any probl
Maybe it is an underwater civilization and the mermaid myths were true....
The Egyptians will indeed be pissed, as will the entire academic archaeology community. They've been insisting that there could be no antedeluvian culture and they've ridiculed any scientific effort to prove otherwise, claiming there's no evidence. Even geological proof that the Sphinx is at least 7.000 years old (and more likely 10,000 yrs) has been rejected by the academic world because it threatens to overturn their standard model. The Egyptians are very protective of their role in
so I guess the mouse-over tooltip for China's icon is not it's code? Purrr... just had to try...
Actually that must have been '95, not '97... memory is such an imprecise thing when it comes to time. I got online shortly after upgrading to win95 because they gave me a free copy of some internet software with the OS... something Compuserve owned.
I loved BBS's and frequented several from '89 - '91. I remember getting the free computer magazines to get an updated list of BBS phone numbers. Back then a big shareware app might be as big as 120k and images almost never got over 80k. Transfer speeds were so bad downloading 300k would take me about an hour. There were application specific drivers for video cards, geeky utilities, graphics format converters and viewers and lots of other cool stuff you could only get from a BBS. One of my favori
Bummer Rolf, sounds like something I experienced and I've seen happen to two other people, all in the last two weeks. I'm really wondering if there could be some unknown virus corrupting our hard drives... or some bug in Win2k maybe.
I don't know if the artist in question is the one I'm remembering with the email either... There's no reason for this to be dragged out here. Feel free to write me if you would like to discuss this any further... haha - China you are too much...
