So, wait. It's IMPOSSIBLE to culture flip a minor?
It rarely happens. I had a minor start in the same sector as Sol my last game and it eventualy flipped to me near the end of the game. It was the 1st time a minor has ever culture flipped to me but I never tried it just happened. Seems now culture flipping is for the major AI's and the human is greatly handicapped.

I never minded minors getting trade goods as they trade them to you cheaper then they cost. That is probably why they got rid of it. Also I remember reading they rarely or never traded them to anyone else. I go for wonders over trade goods as there is only 1 of them and they cannot be traded for. My early rush is to the Galactic Stock Exchange wonder.

The key is to survive the early game and you be the one to choose the fight. That means high diplomacy and keeping everyone happy with you until you decide to take someone out. High diplomacy and bribes are the keys to keeping alive long enough for you to be able to choose the fight. I use 100% research or 100% social all the time. Don't put anything into military until I am ready to make a move later game. I am sure everyone plays differently though, but at Maso I think everyone plays

Thanks moser I knew if I waited long enough someone who knew how to answer the question would.
A colonization event never happens on your 1st planet you colonize. Sorry thats not exactly correct, they happen less frequently, but they happen.
I have never had one happen on the 1st planet. Quite likely to happen on the second though. :notsure:

Here is what I know. It is random. A colonization event never happens on your 1st planet you colonize. An event never happens on a planet less the 12 PQ. A colonization event will only happen once per planet. So you cannot destroy colony and re-colonize to get multi-pul colonization event. You can re-colonize a planet that did not give you an event the 1st time and get an event the 2nd. I have used the following cheese. Save game just before colon
Still don't know why it doesn't seem to work the first time round? No CTDs or anything.
It is strange for sure. But your games are not showing up on your profile niether. Have you got your Alias and your email address exactly the same as when you registard. :notsure:

Future techs or social improvements. Look on the right hand side when you click the tech and you see list as of what this tech will lead to. It is a required tech before you can have the listed future techs ect. Have you look at this useful sight yet. Has all the research tree. http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/ :D

I am using the Research Inc mod only. I started using the mod a few weeks ago. I would be interested in knowing about other mods. Your favorite library mods and why they are your favorite. If that is not hi-jacking the intent of your thread to much DW, it would be good information for mod newbee's like me. :)
then surround their 1-3 planets(galaxy set to rare) with freighters.
How many freighters does it take to surround a planet. My guess would be 4. Sounds like strategy. Like the US putting troops in Korea as a trip wire. Attack my friend, you attack me, so think twice. I would pick a minor to do this. As your trade partner recieves equal benifit from the trade agreement and minors are much easier to trade tech with. You could benifit both ways. :D
use or have used everything you have except mods
I have used the sneaky diplomats party the past week. Are mods cheese if they are approved. Would unapproved ones be more cheesy. :notsure:
So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how cheeszy are these tactics?
Rate it a six. I use or have used everything you have except mods. But you got the spirit GH. Most of everything else so far is strategy, your using some good old stinky cheese. I'm proud of you. :HOT:

Little generous loopcub. They actually like small amounts over a long period of time and as you have just read you never really have to pay because the game will be over before the tribute expires. Play around with it and see if you don't end up with happier AI's and more money in the bank. :D

I am using much smaller and shorter brides. I keep everyone neutral early and warm to friendly mid game on. I hit them every 3 months with a new bride until I get them where I want them though. Maybe that is the difference. I am sure you play with diplomacy as high as possible too which I guess would be the only other factor. :notsure:
