On further reflection I think maybe I am hallucinating and it was never like that.

I installed Start11 on a new computer yesterday and I swear that there used to be an option to right click running programs in the taskbar and pin them to the menu. But right now all I see is "pint to taskbar" and "close window". Was I hallucinating? I can still do it when I type a program's name and right click it from start menu search, just not this. It's weird.
I know the Steam Deck isn’t officially supported, but the game is working perfectly except for the Dynasty user interface which is mangled. It really disables a substantial chunk of the game after I’ve been playing fallen enchantress and earlier builds of Reforged for years now, since the Deck came out. Could the UI developers be bribed with a case of beer to look at that UI implementation for lower screen resolutions? I’m crossing my fingers that there’s not some obsc
I'm playing a Reforged game on a 1280x800 screen. Yes it's a Deck and therefore unsupported, but I'm strongly suspecting that this is a resolution display problem not a device-specific problem. On my 4K display:
Trying to understand out of my ignorance, what's the final filetype, still XML? I've gathered much in the industray has switch from XML to json. Was that not worth doing? (This is a curiosity/learning question, not a challenge question.)
And if you make physical collector edition like old days with Ultima like grabbies, you will have my wallet.
Well damn. I'm in. I still, after all this time, take extra effort to get Fallen Enchantress running on my Steam Deck. I'm a sucker for custom control layouts with those sweet sweet touchpads and even though it took awhile, I sussed out that I had to run a second game, quit, and go back to FE to successfully get a focused window to make the game work. And I had to do it every single time I ran the game. Eventually the problem disappeared, maybe in an update. But *that* is
You are very kind, thank you.
Actually I was wondering if you all had a bigger version of the icon you use for the "windows menu" command. This: edit: though now that I look at it; I might be able to just reproduce a bigger version anyhow.
I'd like to have a 512x or 1024x png format of the Windows Menu icon so I can put it into my collection of customs for the Start 11 menu. Basically one that'll fill the medium sized square. Can anyone, esp. Stardock-ian hit me up?
That's certainly an option, but the rest of the scaling is pretty necessary to have easily readable text, apps, and so forth. That extra 25% does surprising work. I'm content I think.
That did solve the problem. I deleted all the user data just to be sure so I have to start organizing things from square one, but it is fixed now. Thank you.
Sure. 1. I'm on Windows 11 23H2 build. 2. Start 11 is 2.08. 3. Style: Windows 10. 4. Only the one TV via HDMI from an nVidia 2060s GPU. For any further HW information here is a pastebin link to my HWINFO report: https://pastebin.com/0Kv3tGBf 5. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/oPxZOLB I've added three screenshots, one with Windows scaling set to 250%, one to 200%, and just as a shot in the dark, t
Hey. I've long been using an LG TV for my home theater PC and Start Menu has been a good tool for dealing with Windows from the couch. I recently had to switch from the LG to a Samsung. Both are 55" 4k TVs set to 250% scaling. On the new TV the Start 11 full screen start menu has the top menu labels cut off and extra blank space at the bottom. I assume there's something wrong with how display scaling is working between the two devices. Is there anything I can do to further tro
Sure will do. But there's not, like, any official Stardock media kits is there?
I'm looking for some high quality (512x?) icons suitable for large Start 11 icons. I like to have my custom icons take up most all of the space and there's a few items on the start menu from OD that need some attention.
Ok this is a weird request but hear me out. This is about the Start 11 autohide functionality. I maintain an HTPC that runs Kodi and I'd like to keep the taskbar from popping up over Kodi or any other launched program unless I explicitly need to. Conventionally a lot of people have simply replaced the Explorer.exe shell with Kodi to do this. But I also use the Windows Store apps for my streaming services (long story, but Kodi's volunteer add-ons for these are really janky and make exploring o
A resolution to all issues. Gamenaut over in the FE discussion forum on Steam had this to say: On Linux desktop, the solution is to Alt-Tab out of the game and get back to it, then it works (not sure how to do that on the Deck, though). The only way for the game to run without this workaround is by running it on Proton 4.11-13. Also, it's needed to delete the SDNXLFonts.dll file in the game's folder; otherwise some texts won't show up. It's worth mentioning th
And a follow-up to the follow-up: In the end I couldn't configure my way past display issues. Text doesn't appear correctly, some sound glitches. I tried using Proton Experimental as well as Proton GE to see if either compatibility layer would work and no luck, unfortunately.
Follow-up: In case others need the information, a helpful redditor found a workaround. It turns out you can still multitask in Game Mode (as opposed to Desktop Mode). Press the Steam button, select Library, and start a different game, preferably something lightweight in memory. Once it's started fully and music/controls are functional, press the Steam button again, navigate to the new game, and select 'exit game'. Focus will switch to Fallen Enchantress and just like the old alt-tab method, t
Well, I thought there had once been that issue alt-tabbing in Windows, but I installed the game on Parallels on my Mac and it appears that there isn't any such issue with the menu. Options highlight correctly and I can select anything. I did try to assign alt+tab to one of the buttons to no luck. As I brainstorm ideas and options I'll reply here. Edit: I tried streaming from the mac and... it technically worked? But I don't knot that it proved anything.
If there's a reasonable way of getting it to work I'd like to see if I can run Fallen Enchantress on the Steam Deck. The game appears to load correctly but the interface is non-responsive. I have a vague recollection of needing to do something unusual and ProtonDB reports say they have to alt-tab out and then back in to make the menu accessible. Is there a known cause of this and anything I can do to mitigate it on the Deck?
Roger that. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the clarifications so far. Um, I'd like to probe a little bit more about how ODM works. I have the software setting "launch on windows startup" unchecked, but it sometimes pops up in my system anyhow. What's happening? Do OD components like Start11 call the manager themselves? Is the manager memory resident despite that setting? That's what I'm getting at. From my point of view, the app seems to be doing things without me giving it the ok and I'd like to get a better sense
Can I ask how OD works when detecting new versions? I don't normally see it in the task tray or in memory AFAICT, but sometimes it pops up with new program version alerts. Is it normally closed and the programs themselves call OD? That would be perfectly fine I think, I just want to check as I habitually disable updater systems like Adobe and similar. It has nearly always made tracing issues on my system easier.
