It is testimony to the depth of the disaster in Iraq that the daily slaughter of dozens of innocents merits only the briefest mention. - OG San ...or maybe a testament to the media's willful complaceny in helping ignore the costs of an increasingly unjustified war.

It's good to see you posting again, Stevendedalus. Good bit.
I think it must have been very hard for NeoCons to anticipate all the consequences of their actions, but I don't really think some of them cared. It's not like their goals were altruistic or made with the best interests of most Americans in mind anyway.
And of course, there are some registered users who can't figure out how to use the quote feature. - Iconoclast I don't like to use the big ugly yellow JU boxes for automatic quotation. I prefer the svelte italics journalists use when quoting others. I do a lot of quoting of sources and when I used to use the quotation feature at JU, my posts were sometimes accused of 'hijacking' threads because of the sheer amount of space they would consume. <img src="htt
I guess the most annoying troll has been an anonymous poster who has taken it upon him / herself to hound me with cut'n'paste whenever posting on someone else's blog who does not restrict themselves to only registered users. I don't want to ask every maintainer of each and every blog whom I post on to please change their settings at my behest. Because of the behaviour of this poster, I am effectively being curtailed from posting freely without the anon's idiotic, often off- topic cut a
It's preposterous you would blame the minority party for utilizing the federal government as it's strongman, Gideon, what world did you slip in to?
That is messed up, apojoe. Messed up.
Why not enlist your government officials sons instead ? - Chime That would be an interesting scenario. If state and federal employees and their age-eligible children were required to enlist, what would America's military international role be? Very small. That's exactly what it would be. Making the people deciding our military involvements stand behind their word(s) with their own flesh and blood as gurantees would drastically d
Please continue to share your thoughts. I would, however, ask you to do so correctly. You are teaching Chinese children English? Please show to the JU community your accurate representation of it.
Plus and minus, I'm just glad JU has some discussion going on.
That's not the point I'm making, cactoblasta. In a 'liberal' culture, we see an almost 'no-holds-barred' approach to content in media. I think that is fine, to a point. I find myself a bit intolerant to certain excess(es) (e.g. sex and violence) to a degree when engaged with the mass media these days. I very much wish corporations would tone it down a bit. That is the 'overly liberal' culture I'm speaking of, and I don't think it has much to do with the amount of sex one is offered o
Hmm, fascinating for numerologists. I would ask how you voted in the poll, but I think I know how you voted.
Bumpety bump-bump bumpety bump-bump, look @ deference goooo...
A new MSNBC poll is up right now for JU voters to check out. The Poll Question Is : Do you agree with President Bush when he likens the struggle against Islamic fundamentalism with the fight against Nazis and communists ? The Options are : Yes. Bin Laden and others are the Hitlers and Stalins of our tim
Overly liberal culture? Where the hell is this? I mean, you say that's what you don't like about America, but I'm curious where it exists. When conservatives control all three branches of government, that's not a real big sign of an "overly Liberal" culture. - Myrr Maybe a bunch of neo-cons are running the government but that has little to do with what I refer to as 'the overly liberal culture'. I like a liberal culture - where one can have access to all sorts of m
...I was too distracted by the fact that you had capitalized it at the end of your message. - Pseudosoldier I often capitalize people's handles as a sign of respect, informalize people's handles to show comraderie, and de-capitalize to show disrespect. An eccentricity of mine.
One last bit, Myrr, the people over at FreeRepublic are much closer to actual conservatives then (respectfully) most anyone at JU.
Just be aware that sometimes, we type from computers we don't want to log in on. -Myrrander Yes, I did a bit of that last summer, and sometimes (as in a University Computer Lab) one must have administrative access to get a cookie, so anonymous log in is one's only hope. They provide a nice break from the typical conservative crap that most JU posters spout. - Myrrander Anonymous posters are 'new blood' that help keep JU from becoming stagnant and at ti
There's an edit hyperlink at the bottom of each article - Pseudosoldier I primarily use FireFox and with it, the 'edit' button hasn't shown up at the bottom of my articles. I used Internet Explorer to check against, 'lo and behold!' it showed up! I wonder if this is a cookie issue? I have JU as an exception to my otherwise restricted cookies for Firefox but I can't think of any other reason as to why Internet Explorer isn't showing any problems. <i
Is this sarcastic or was the part of my post that attempted to solve your issue actually successful? - Pseudosoldier No sarcasm. Even though I was not successful, I wouldn't chide someone trying to help unless I was ribbing them in good nature. JU can be so buggy sometimes. You see how I misspelled your handle, Pseudo in post #8? Though I'm logged in and though I logged in again I'm still told I have to be 'logged in' to edit the post. That sh*t drives me n
Something must have changed since the new forum layout. I go to 'tools', 'edit', then three tabs; 'contents', 'options', and 'previews' show up, but none of them have an option to change to only registered users. Shucks, thanks anyway, Pseudo.
Not hypocritical at all, pseduosoldier. You see, if people are on my blog, I have the option to deal with problematic anons. Many bloggers, however, don't have the time or don't always know of the ways to deal with spammers, so maintaining a blog inundated with anons can be problematic. This conundrum can be dealt with most easily by doing away with the problem entirely. Thank you for your invaluable assistance, Pseduosoldier.
Cactoblasta, I've looked around and can't find a way to switch a blog setting to only allow for registered users to post after the blog has already been created. I don't know how Draginol did it unless he used some other means.
Monkeys, airplanes, doo-doo, civil engineering, rancor, elephants. - San Chonino The random words spam-bots incorporate to get around spam filters amazes me. I'm not sure how it works but it would be interesting to find out! I think there's an option in the 'post blog' settings that lets you specify no anonymous posters. So you could do it for all your articles if you wanted to. - Cactoblasta Right, but I would ask JU to do away with the ability to post
Destroy anonymous trolls.
