Yeah, that all sounds pretty good. I might suggest lowering the HP on mines and also slowing the decay rate. One of the huge selling points of this game is that I don't have to micromannage every damned thing. If I've got a fleet that is, say, 10% scouts, I shouldn't have to lift a finger to protect my fleet from any mines in the system. The fleet _ought_ to be smart enough to avoid/kill the mines themselves... For each race currently, the Scout unit ca

I've played a couple games of Entrenchment so far, and am having a good time. Yes, mines are overpowered, and yes starbases need to be beefed up a bit. But one issue I've not seen mentioned yet: the interface around starbases could be better. Specifically: As it stands, when I build a starbase with factories, I have to select the starbase when I wish to actually use the factories. Usually I fi

I'm about to buy a macbook pro-- the stats on it are seriously fantastic. 2.5ghz dual-core 512meg video card (DX10capable) , 2gigs of RAM minimum... The question is: what's the best way to get Sins up and running. Do I install Vista as a dual boot? Is there VM ware which people are having success with? I'd love to hear people's experiences. Thanks!

Pincer movements are pretty much my standard way of taking on large enemy planets-- when I can pull it off. They're a whole lot of fun to watch :) A buddy of mine and I would take turns giving an AI whiplash-- I would jump in to a grav. well, causing the AI to pull her fleet in. Then my buddy would jump into another grav. well-- causing the AI to either concede that well, or pull her fleet out of the battle with me to contest it. After about 30 minutes of this, we'd eaten the the AI

I'd like to create a new tech which would, when researched, give each of your faction's carriers, hangers, and capships an extra "command point" (squadron). Unfortunately, I don't know how to create new techs, nor how to integrate them with ships. I did read the modding tutorial included with the reference files, but it only talked about creating mods and altering ships. Any help would be appreciated!

That's a seriously fantastic idea. Probably not for a patch, but I'd love the devs. to think about minelayers for the expansion...

I'm getting a copy of Vista Ultimate, which I believe comes with both 32bit and 64bit versions. I thought I'd give Vista64 a try (in case I ever want more than 4 gigs of RAM:) ). But first I want to make sure that my software will run. anyone know? And, while I'm at it: what about steam and MS office? Will these programs work (I presume office will!). Does anyone know of current-gen software (say about 2 years old) that won't work under vista64?<b

As soon as I get home from work, I'm going to be making carriers that do a lot more, um carrying. At least for TEC. 2 for the cruisers, 3 starting for the Sova-- and 1 (1.5?) new squad with every level. The Kol will start with 1, and gain .5 every level. Can you tell I like the strike craft? :)

One thing that a campaign does for most games is guide new players along the learning curve. The campaign is almost a demo in that respect. This game might benefit from having one. Then again, I've never played any of the campaigns that have come with the various CIV expansions, nor did I bother with the campaigns in GalCiv...

I read over the first page-- but not the other 5. I'm sorry if this has been mentioned already: Research issues: A) I want to know how many of which types of research stations I have. B) I want to know what I'm researching without having to pour over 5 screens of research options, looking for the one that's slightly brighter than the others. C) I want to know what my research que looks like. I can't always remember what I scheduled for when. D) Since m

So: we have this nifty new Forge tool, and a game which does quite well in a single star system. Therefore I propose the following map-making challenge: Make the best "Sol" system. The winner is the person who can make the map the most A) fun and B) accurate. I'm not sure how we're going to go about judging this, nor what sort of prize we can give, but I'd love to get some feedback to see if there's any interest. Anyone have thoughts?

I like a lot of this. The AI has been beefed up, and seems to be playing smarter. I feel like I'm always a few credits shy, though there isn't nearly the crystal bottleneck that there used to be. Good job team! Like the idea of separate research labs. I hate the fact that I now need twice as many. I simply never have enough, nor enough room to put them all. It's one thing to force us to make decisions-- but research is one of the cores of the game. A simple solution might

In one of my recent Sins games, I was allied to both sides of a nasty conflict. When I wiped out the 4th player, I figured I had just scored a diplomatic victory-- until I realized that Sins doesn't have that as a win condition. Fair enough , thought I. I then moved my fleets into position above 2 of the main planets in "allied" territory. Once I was in position, I broke our treaties and... it was a fairly easy couple of battles. Then I got caught in the culture bug and ended the game

I wouldn't call it "very" briefly. A little brief, maybe, but more than enough detail for those that actually pay attention. Or for those who have the tutorial crash half-way through. Or for those who reach a point where the objectives are unclear, can't advance, give up and start playing the game...

Something I discovered accidentally last night: "V" and "B" are zoom in and zoom out. the game is now complete

I am told that there is a button I press that can make this happen. For the life of me, I can't find that button. Can anyone tell me where it is? If you're feeling _very_ generous, screen shots would be much appreciated... While I'm at it: I've read that if I right click on... something... I can tell groups of ships how to behave in combat. What's "something"?
