I haven't had a chance to dig into this yet but I think the ship building process won't let me build ships as nice as the pre-made ones. If you haven't tried this yet, it may help: use the slider control on the ship designer screen to resize components before you add them to the ship. On a Tiny or Small hull, the com

None of the ships we are supposed to gain with new technologies seem to show up. I just ended up custom building a bunch as a result, but would be good to have those ships available Good! There is no point in having a bunch of pre-fab ship designs when you can just build them yourself. I think the Tech descriptions ju

I mean I was focusing on beam research. Now I was able to research a new beam weapon every 2 weeks Ahhh, now that you mention it, I did notice that as well. The tech costs don't increase enough on the Beam Weapon track as you move up. I didn't play too far yet, but I'm going to assume that other tech tracks have a s

I noticed that the descriptions for new Tech discoveries really suck. I know this is not a priority for the development team yet, so I am suggesting that you let Beta testers volunteer to write some of these for you (with someone at Stardock reading them before they are used of course). The guy who wrote the Dusty the Dust Bunny thread surely has some writing talent. I'd write some too if asked. Run it by Frogboy. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/smiles

I saw at least one other thread on this, and I also experienced this problem. Someone else said that if you don't click Save (you just play the race without saving it) you can avoid the crash.

Try looking further down in the email for a registration key. I remember being confused by the reference number (which IS useless for

how do you download, don't see it Johnny, Have you downloaded Stardock Central (SDC)? If not, download that from the Stardock site and see if you can input your registration key. SDC will download the up-to-date version of the Beta and install it for you. If you can't figure it out, try emailing the support

In a game, I was first to colonize a planet in an uninhabited star system. I named the planet "Earth" to see if the game would allow it (I was playing Humans and started on Earth). It did let me name my new planet "Earth", but it did not rename the star. My question: If you are the first race to colonize a planet in a particular star system, and you rename that planet, is the star supposed to be renamed to reflect that? For instance, I name my plan

In the Colonies List popup, there is a square next to each colony name with the Planet Quality number in the corner. The square is a size that suggests to me that an icon (or some graphic) belongs inside it. Was this intentionally left blank, or are graphics missing here? -Proud Canadian

If I put my initial survey ship on a LONG auto-pilot course into unknown territory, the Fog of War on the main map is uncovered as the auto-pilot ship moves each turn, but the mini-map is not updated. WORKAROUND: If you manually click the mini-map and zoom in (or zoom out) it will be redrawn with the Fog of War updated to be in-sync with the main map. -Proud Canadian

The "Time" field (number of weeks) listed on the description of an improvement square does not seem to be displayed correctly. Note that this is in the improvement square description (on the bottom left/center of the colony window) above the details of production output and maintenance cost, NOT the number of weeks in the Build Queue (which IS displayed properly). On one colony, the "Time" shown was "1 wk" for all the improvements, and on another it showe

Reproduce using the following steps: 1) Start GalCiv 2 2) Choose New Game option 3) Choose your galaxy settings and click Next 4) Now, on the Races screen, click the Back button 5) On the galaxy settings screen, click the Back button again 6) Now, on the main menu, click Quit The game does not quit. Also, all main menu buttons are now disabled, so you can't do anything. I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL and use the Task Manager to

The label "Homeworld" is not exactly right, since it names the Star that your homeworld orbits. I started a game as the Humans, and started at the star named Earth, with planets Earth I, Earth II and Earth III. I don't want to live on Earth III, it sounds like a bad movie sequel! - Proud Canadian
