Looking at Multi again... oh... and seeing why I liked Dark Rain's utility better.... too bad it doesn't do 32 bit. Got the Star Trek MDLs and took a look. The race models MDL is accessable by the Dark Rain's utility. Fixing issue here (if there are any) is no problem. The TNGship MDL data isn't accessable by Dark Rain's utility. At this point, I'm not sure I want to commit the time to figuring out Multi. Being productive and efficient while using Multi look

Thanks for popping in TurgotZ :) What I said was true regarding the existing ship game files (unless I over-looked one); true as 16 bit; true so far as the Sprite Editor will state if a file is unacceptable if attempted to be loaded as 32 bit. Perhaps it doesn't always give the error report, in which case, my "Bust," and I appologize. Intersting Service. I may need to try that as well. I certainly have no way to place such large files on-line. My FTP is nearly full as it is.<b
I'll check it out! Thanks for the tip. It sounds like there may be a problem with tag 35 being missing for some ships sets (minor race files). I determine this on the weekend, time permitting.
Icho, I fix it this weekend. NP :) Amayon, wow, that's quite the list of ships! Hrm, what exactly needs doing? So these are the Star Trek ships. I never fully tied that mod out. At the time I was loving the challenge to figure out the Spite Tools, and whatnot. Those ships are pretty cool. I see mostly 6 player sets and a few of player 7. Am I seeing that right? So what needs doing? AI 7? Were some other missing? They all seem to be there (?). If they are in t
So it's not (yet) up-loaded in the library here (or elsewhere)? I didn't see it in the ship, improvements, or misc section (?). Were you ever able to do anything with those few ship MDLs I did for you? I'd be interested in whatever you may have come up with as opposed to what I used them for in my own installed version of AP (in so far as any *.SHIP file can say just about anything, as legal syntax, of course, and be associated with practically any MDL available). Let me know i
Does the Big Pack actually have new ship specific MDLs? I must have missed seeing these. Might check it out. Thanks for mentioning it.
Ok, perhaps I over-reacted this time, I appologize. It's the negative tone that you came across with at the beginning when you said this: "...I just don't like if someone runs around and shouts 'ERROR in your product' without speaking to me first!" I wasn't shouting, I was relating facts that you came across as being rather doubious about to my view, as if I didn't know what I was talking about; and, instead was perhaps attacking you in some manner. I felt it was an uncalled fo
Ok, got home and had a few minutes to look in-game at this. Yes, in the game the problem DOES exist. Let me point out that play-testers could easily miss seeing this error. In order to see an error, a player would need to make every ship type in the MDL under his or her ownership, then give a ship of each type to each race, then HOPE the race moves the ship at least once in ALL EIGHT directions in order for you to see proper functioning of graphics (or not). That is a whole lot of HOPING!!! Tha
I can report what the Viewer shows. I suggest somebody look at the race for the 7hor image and get it to make a ship (or give such to it). I'll look into this more closer this coming weekend. I didn't want to test this in the game after seeing the problems in the Sprite Editor. But if it is working, then I'll give it a try and verify the 7hor image appears correctly. As you mentioned I could condense the file, I can do that based on the working file that do appear in the editor. I will
Look, you're getting "defensive" for no reason. The fact is, everything we do as mods is public domain, is it not? We don't need each other's permission; ergo, it is silly to get upset about, especially if the original author is given credit in a readme file for any adaptations other users may create (many do by virtual of combining mods, fixing errors and spelling, and adjusting value for play balance and personal tastes). I won't fix the problems or improve the MDLs out of COURTEST to you, no
I'll post it over there a little later. Thanks for the tip and link. Must rush off to work... the "daily grind" as it were... I didn't realize the game was still so young ;)
NP :) Anyway, check 7hor, it in fact can only show one face since the other seven are missing and the comand for it is illegal as it is for 32 faces in the command name. The error will appear in the game for 7hor race. If the MDL structures are correct, race 0 thru 5 and 35 should appear in the editor tools as well, but don't without locking it up for some reason. I have found from strudying the all the original MDLs that the reason of 7 race designiation was so that the crea
New Ship Graphics, as MDL files. See the link for a jpg picture of a mix of various new creations. Click to open it from that location (it's not a zip file). Far Scape: I made Moya , a super troop transport carrier; plus I did a Skarren Dreadnaught (the meanest badest ship in the mid-game that the AI loves to use - darn it - several anti-matter missiles are needed to destroy it; or use about 10 nuke missles against it) B5: I re-did an existing MDL mod by Copelann of a Vorlon sh
I take it they don't follow what's said here much? As far a GCII, I haven't got it yet and am clueless if anything I might say even remotely could apply.
I was looking at this mod, Halut ships, containing an MDL of several new unique ship graphics. Are all five ship appearing correctly for other players of this game? The utility for viewing the MDL is only showing the ship data for race 6 and 7. Zero through 5 and 35 will not appear, crashing the viewer/editor. I did see some of them, and saw an error. 7hor needs more than one frame for 8 faces; minimum of 8 faces. The command given in the 7 hor name is A32C1, but only one frame is give
Woops, wrong forum.... sorry

Ya, I think I mistated that Phoenix... I need to watch an see if I pressed the TURN key. I have not watched the details as close as I should after pressing the "Turn" button; hmm, being more actually into playing the game. I hit the Turn button when in a bit of hurry, and the program will then have me go back and address any of my ships for movement if I hadn't done so; but, while doing that, some AI owned ships move as well. I guess it really isn't that annoying. Erm, I really shouldn't hit th
OK, I DL'd it and took a look. It has great possibilities if one is NOT using similar mods already which do the same sorts of things. One really doesn't want to install 20 assorted terraforming mods which improve the planet PQ excessively. The player has to pick and choose when given several of the same sorts of mods to choose from. This is, of course, if you don't want to depart too extremely from the original flavor of the game and it's basic play balance. The Seldo
Ya, I laughed the first time I saw that too... as I got irritated in dealing with all those zillions of pip-sqeak ships the enemy AI got from out of thin-air, lol....
Perhaps ask the question in the mods forum... Also keep in mind these forums are fairly "quiet." There are a number of superior forum/fan sites that no doubt many of the GC/AP fans use and meet at instead of meeting here in this limited forum/board (in terms of the norm otherwise available most other places on the net). Anyway, this Seldon mod... Give a link to it. I use lots of mods in combination, and certainly no longer remember the orginal mod names or thier authors. Most m
Since MOO2 i've been playing Alpha Centauri, Pax Imperia, Rebellion, Reach For The Stars, MOO3 (biggest letdown ever), Birth Of The Federation, almost every 4x game i know, without finding something that comes close to MOO2. Now i just bought GalCiv (budget version /10 €) and reviews sound promising, so do you think it's better than MOO2 or not ?
Wow, sounds like me and my history :) I'd say AP (GC) is better in the overall of things. That is a heartly f
Time for either version? I personally don't think there is much difference in non-modified games. AP is basiclly the same game plus two new races, map editor, and a few other goodies. In addittion to the other posts, I'd say that it also depends on what mods you are using. I find games which have a large number of extra technology mods and new ship MDLs tend to cause longer games (in order to research them - if needed - depending on what they are). Of course, the size universe you play in make
Here's a screen shot of the mini colony. I've been testing it, so that's why I haven't up-loaded it yet. http://users.rcn.com/aulonacara/Galatic%20Civ/ The AI's like to use it. In testing other ships, it seems they aren't fond of the Ha'tack and Amaymon ships, so I need to adjust the values a bit more. That screen shot shows nearly all the new ships and some shots of what they look like when belonging to other players. ------------- Just an side note.
Just a heads up... I made a new ship graphic today for a mini colony ship. It is available the same time the normal colony ship is available, but for a slighty higher cost. It has some weopons and armor for defense, but can carry only a max of 500 settlers. I made it as an alternative to the hard to position slider bar of the regular colony load-with-settlers window. With a max of 500 settlers, the slider is much easier to use. I'll place it in the next update of the Mod Packa
