A mod for that? I don't think so. The game scale is closer to "unit" or "divisional" scale than "squad" scale. Subsequently, things like boarding-parties, damage control teams, crew watch rotations, ship captains and capabilities and history, ship specific up-grades, interior ship floor plans, various internal ship sub-system damage and repair times, etc, hasn't been taken into account along with all the other sorts of things at the "squad" scale level. The combat algorithm seems pretty much wr

Delete everything in your Prefs.ini and place the below there instead (cut, copy and paste; do it in Note Pad or similar). It is my AP Prefs.ini. Then all you need do is fire up the game and change various defaults to your own desires. That's easy. A star base or some classes of ships shouldn't be able to move fast, say mines. The problem with the game engine is that the core speed setting of a typical ship is NOT absolute. All ships are forcefully made to go faster when the player discovers new technologies for speed, even when it is totally unrealistic for some ship designs. There is no cost required to get the improved speed, and there is no time spend in a shipyard to gain new engines for better speed. Ships get

Saddly, GC is very limited. It won't let you use custom maps. AP does! That up-grade to AP is really worth it and not expensive. AP is just a really massively improved version of GC. You get two more races AI as well; plus lots of new menu options, a map editor, etc.

I'm easy, and my only main requirement is that the user interface be every bit as efficient as MooII, playable by track ball or mouse, and include a tabular, sortable, summary where the player can complete purchases from savings (if global money is available) or be re-routed to the appropriate game screen - etc, etc, etc. Also, user configurable game options are a must so that users and tweak variables to thier own tastes (spying as a selectable game feature, for example, not as a core game fun

Looking for epic size battles? Looking for way to play while using well planned tactics? A hard game or easy? Then try "For Epic Battles" custom map. I use this for "power" games that push AI players toward high technology achievements - games can run long, but the AIs all run a great chance for becoming powerful empires to cause you a serious frustration or a serious profit, depending on how to manipulate the AIs. Try it with these settings: Altarians, Arceans, and T

Alternatively, create a political party... such will give you a big immediate boost.... but it would apply to any planet you settle... making the game somewhat pointless in some regards... of course, an AI may take the same party... //------------------------------------------------------------------------ POLITICALPARTY XXXX //------------------------------------------------------------------------ ID X DisplayName "XXXX" Description

http://users.rcn.com/aulonacara/Galatic%20Civ/ Unpack the zip file to a temporary folder. It should create various folders which correlate to the installed AP game folders. Find the readme text file and follow the instructions for installion. This is for AP installations, but it may work on GC installations (not sure). Yep, there seemed a lack of interest, and I figured some prefer it to be directly located at the library here. I think it is just to big to be kept here, and the

You will need to eliminate (delete) the respective graphics (MDL file if the Gfx folder) for those ships as well if you truely wish to start from scratch. Of course, you'll need new MDL ship graphic file to match your new ship descriptions and designs. Recall, however, some tech files and events (?) actually name specific ship names which you will have eliminated. You need to change the respective tech file ship calls to whatever new names you create for your new ships. This can all get

Tip... Important the *.SHIP file call the exact name of the MDL file (in most cases). Some of the game MDLs contain several ships. Most user made MDLs are tied to only one ship design (all mine are, anyway). The file name of the ship inside the MDL needs to match the MDL name exactly, or there will be more black boxes in the game. This is a common problem when people rename MDLs.... don't do that. If an MDL is called: Missile.MDL, then the MyShips.SHIP file should have a sectio

I'll leave the PQ-score-thing to the experts... I don't know for sure... just going on what I've seen posted in these forums. I don't submit scores. I play for my own satisfaction; having no desire to "compete" with others, to be honest; playing for "fun," not necessarily for a great score. Aside from that, the combined mod package is available now (on-line ftp): http://users.rcn.com/aulonacara/Galatic%20Civ/ Unpack into a temporary folder, find the readme file and fol

Are they near 64x64 for in-game use for MDL files creation? Or just PCX for new reports and other game menu pictures (whatever)? Perhaps you could email them to me some time for less than a meg. My own mod collection has no anomaly mods accept one of my own speed anomalies, similar to those already created by other modders. Are there any existing anomaly mods that you would recommend? I never could decide which ones to try. What about event file mods? I haven't tried a

http://users.rcn.com/aulonacara/Galatic%20Civ/ The most current file is now online: 1E Combined Mods.Zip There was a 1D Combined Mods dot zip, but I removed this due to the fact I accidently put an old Monster MDL graphic into the zip file. That is corrected in the 1E Combined Mods dot zip file. BTW, this is just to big to try to place at this site's library (I'm not sure they would accept such a large zip file anyway). It simply is much easier for me to put t

Wow, I leave for a while, and come back for a peak.... I didn't expect to even see this thread, to be honest. I've been playing this crazy game a lot lately! Lol.... killing a lot of otherwise useful time! Darn it! Well, its hard to leave it alone. Still love it. I pulled it off my ftp after discovering the play balance needed much more work than I thought. I think I have this worked out. Cross your fingers. I've refined and play balanced of the entire package of ships

I had the same problem. I eventually tried changing the screen resolution to a higher setting: 16 color, 1152x864, in order to see all the map buttons... it also needs be large so that the large size maps will display without crashing (perhaps).... that's just a guess on my part. But it works fine for me now. It's tricky to use, and may crash due to some bugs it seems to have when putting in out-of-range values or manipulating elements wrongly with the mouse. Hope it works for you!

I was putting them at my FTP site because it was much faster and much easier :) And far less "red tape." If the new version of GC wasn't in the pipe line I might consider putting them in this site's library. The long answer? The the main reason I haven't put these ship mods in the library is due to the fact that I created these for myself primarily. As such, they require existing mods created by others in order to function; they also would require all of my own techno

http://users.rcn.com/aulonacara/Galatic%20Civ/ A new stand-alone mod, the Chippoka Fighter; a follow-on design to the Amaymon Fighter. Enjoy. Down-load into temporary folder, unzip, and then read the readme.txt file for simple installation instructions. Will work for AP or GC installations. Hmm.... Battleship Galatica capital ship? It might be a interesting ship - I may need to revisit the idea.

Myself, I'm using Radeon X700... so from the picture, yes, if you're refering to the graphics card - in Russian (it looks like), but I see what you mean :) On the Radeon, my only option is to select 3D or OpenGL when using 3D, I can put the slider to "Performance" or closer to "Quality." The card is a high end card, and neither setting made a difference last night while I played the game; and the "slow motion" happenned in both graphic card options during one of my battles between two s
